    Valence bond approach and Verma bases

    The unitary group approach (UGA) to the many-fermion problem is based on the Gel’fand–Tsetlin (G–T) representation theory of the unitary or general linear groups. It exploits the group chain U(n)⊃U(n−1)⊃⋯⊃U(2)⊃U(1) and the associated G–T triangular tableau labeling basis vectors of the relevant irreducible representations (irreps). The general G–T formalism can be drastically simplified in the many-electron case enabling an efficient exploitation in either configuration interaction (CI) or coupled cluster approaches to the molecular electronic structure. However, while the reliance on the G–T chain provides an excellent general formalism from the mathematical point of view, it has no specific physical significance and dictates a fixed Yamanouchi–Kotani coupling scheme, which in turn leads to a rather arbitrary linear combination of distinct components of the same multiplet with a given orbital occupancy. While this is of a minor importance in molecular orbital based CI approaches, it is very inconvenient when relying on the valence bond (VB) scheme, since the G–T states do not correspond to canonical Rumer structures. While this shortcoming can be avoided by relying on the Clifford algebra UGA formalism, which enables an exploitation of a more or less arbitrary coupling scheme, it is worthwhile to point out the suitability of the so-called Verma basis sets for the VB-type approaches

    Investigation of the reactivity of AlCl3 and CoCl2 toward molten alkali-metal nitrates in order to synthesize CoAl2O4

    Cobalt aluminate CoAl2O4 powder, constituted of nano-sized crystallites, is prepared, involving the reactivity of AlCl3 and CoCl2 with molten alkali-metal nitrates. The reaction at 450 °C for 2 h leads to a mixture of spinel oxide Co3O4 and amorphous γ-Al2O3. It is transformed into the spinel oxide CoAl2O4 by heating at 1000 °C. The powders are mainly characterized by XRD, FTIR, ICP, electron microscopy and diffraction, X-EDS and diffuse reflection. Their properties are compared to those of powders obtained by solid state reactions of a mechanical mixture of chlorides or oxides submitted to the same thermal treatment

    Quantum channel correction outperforming direct transmission

    Long-distance optical quantum channels are necessarily lossy, leading to errors in transmitted quantum information, entanglement degradation and, ultimately, poor protocol performance. Quantum states carrying information in the channel can be probabilistically amplified to compensate for loss, but are destroyed when amplification fails. Quantum correction of the channel itself is therefore required, but break-even performance—where arbitrary states can be better transmitted through a corrected channel than an uncorrected one—has so far remained out of reach. Here we perform distillation by heralded amplification to improve a noisy entanglement channel. We subsequently employ entanglement swapping to demonstrate that arbitrary quantum information transmission is unconditionally improved—i.e., without relying on postselection or post-processing of data—compared to the uncorrected channel. In this way, it represents realization of a genuine quantum relay. Our channel correction for single-mode quantum states will find use in quantum repeater, communication and metrology applications.Full Tex

    Development of Program in VB to Compute Tractor Parameters on Automatic Steering

    A comprehensible Visual Basic (VB) computer program is developed to find out the tractor parameters for an automated steering system. Tractor parameters such as real wheel and front wheel trajectory coordinates, clockwise front and rear wheel angle and corrected front and rear wheel angle can be calculated. Front wheel trajectory data, rear wheel trajectory, distance between front and rear wheel(X13), Tractor velocity vector(V) and Tractor turning angle with center line are input variables for developed software. The tractor parameters are being calculated with the help of mathematical model which are already fed in program. The developed program successfully calculates the tractor parameters on automated steering . This developed software could guide an autonomous agricultural tractor in the field. Furthermore, software navigates agricultural tractor both in straight or curved path at normal field operational speed.</jats:p

    In vivo imaging has revolutionized understanding of the spatiotemporal complexity that subserves the generation of successful effector and regulatory immune responses. Until now, invasive surgery has been required for microscopic access to lymph nodes (LNs), making repeated imaging of the same animal impractical and potentially affecting lymphocyte behavior. To allow longitudinal in vivo imaging, we conceived the novel approach of transplanting LNs into the mouse ear pinna. Transplanted LNs maintain the structural and cellular organization of conventional secondary lymphoid organs. They participate in lymphocyte recirculation and exhibit the capacity to receive and respond to local antigenic challenge. The same LN could be repeatedly imaged through time without the requirement for surgical exposure, and the dynamic behavior of the cells within the transplanted LN could be characterized. Crucially, the use of blood vessels as fiducial markers also allowed precise re-registration of the same regions for longitudinal imaging. Thus, we provide the first demonstration of a method for repeated, noninvasive, in vivo imaging of lymphocyte behavior
