Malondialdchyde level was increased significantly in all regions of brain and
the increase was dose dependent. Mid brain showed highest level of lipid peroxidation.

Symmetrical peripheral gangrene: Unusual complication of dengue fever
Symmetrical peripheral gangrene (SPG) is a rare clinical entity, infective, and noninfective both types of etiologies are responsible. The basic underlying pathology in SPG is being disseminated intravascular coagulation and carries a high mortality. Here, we describe a 52-year-old male with dengue fever, who developed bilateral symmetrical dry gangrene of both hand and feet. His dengue IgM antibody was positive. All the peripheral pulses of the affected limbs were palpable. Color Doppler study of upper and lower limb vessels showed normal flow. The patient was managed with intravenous fluids, low molecular weight heparin, and fresh frozen plasma. His general condition was improved within 72 h with no further progression of gangrene. Clinician should suspect the possibility of SPG while dealing a case of dengue fever presenting as peripheral gangrene
SOIL AND FOLIAR APPLICATION OF BORON ON WHEAT PRODUCTIVITY IN NORTH EAST ALLUVIAL PLAIN OF EASTERN INDIA
An on-farm trials was conducted during rabi season of 2013 in a randomized block design with six treatments on boron deficits soil at farmer’s field by KVK Purnea (Bihar) to validate, refine and popularize the technology developed at Bihar Agricultural University Sabour, Bhagalpur (Bihar) for enhancing the productivity of wheat [Triticum aestivum (L.) emend. Fiori & Paol.]. Application of 2.0 Kg/ha B as basal followed by 0.2% foliar application of B at 2-5 % spike initiation gave significant increase in yield attributes of wheat as compared to farmer’s practice (i.e. without boron application). The highest grain yield (3.58 t/ha) was observed where boron was applied 2.0 Kg/ha as basal fb 0.2% foliar application at 2-5 % spike initiation and it was most economical to increase wheat productivity

A preliminary study on the safety and efficacy of the compound Unani medicine Jawarish-e-Shahi in the treatment of palpitation
687-693Heart palpitations are the sensations or feelings that accompany an excessively rapid, skip-beat, or fluttering heartbeat. Heart palpitations can be brought on by a variety of factors, such as anxiety, tension, fear, caffeine, nicotine, some medications, dietpills, physical activity, and fever. Herbal remedies have long been utilized widely in the therapeutic management of palpitations because available synthetic medications have substantial negative effects. The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and effectiveness of the Unani medication Jawarish-e-Shahi in patients experiencing palpitations. The information provided here is an open-level, multicentric clinical study that was carried out at the “Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine in Aligarh”, Uttar Pradesh, from 2016 to 2019 on 74 cases of palpitation streated with Jawarish-e-Shahi. A p-value of<0.05 was proved to be significant in the statistical analysis of the presented data, which was conducted using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Dunnett's test. The study's findings, which were compared to baseline data from various follow-ups of palpitation cases treated with Jawarish-e-Shahi, demonstrated a notable improvement in a number of palpitation symptoms, including anxiety, perspiration, nausea, vomiting, and chest heaviness. A significant decline in diastolic pressure and pulse rate had also been observed. Reduction in number of pallor (pale appearance of patients) in baseline, 1st follow-up and post-treatment had been noted. Based on the investigation, the Unani medicine is safe and non-toxic. More research on a large size of population with palpitations is suggested for further study
Majun-e-Suranjan and Habb-e-Azraqi are two Unani compound drugs that are effective and safe in cases of gout - An initial study
708-716Present study evaluated the therapeutic efficacy and safety of two Unani compound drugs Majun-e-Suranjan and Habb-e-Azraqi in cases of gout on modern scientific parameters viz., clinical, biochemical and haematological. This work was conducted at Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Aligarh, during 2014-2019. 71 people were chosen from the pool of patients visiting the outpatient department (OPD). Patients received the Unani medicines Majun-e-Suranjan in a dose of 5.0 g and Habb-e-Azraqi in a dose of 1 pill (250 mg) twice daily after meals for a period of 56-days. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for the analysis of data, and the statistical significance of the findings was determined by Dennett's test. The study reveals that the two Unani medicines are safe, non-toxic, and significantly relieve the symptoms of gouty arthritis. It is suggested to conduct more research among a large population

Advances in Minimally Invasive General Surgery: A Narrative Review of Techniques, Technologies, and Patient Outcomes
Minimally invasive general surgery (MIGS) encompasses a broad spectrum of contemporary operative techniques and technologies, including laparoscopy, robotic assistance, novel access approaches, advanced energy platforms, enhanced imaging, and emerging digital tools. This narrative review, conducted through a structured literature search of major medical databases, critically examines the evolution of these innovations and their impact on surgical practice, patient outcomes, and healthcare systems. Evidence from randomized controlled trials, meta-analyses, and large observational studies published over the past decade indicates that MIGS is generally associated with reduced postoperative morbidity, shorter hospital stay, reduced postoperative pain, faster functional recovery, improved cosmetic outcomes, and enhanced patient-reported quality of life compared with open surgery. However, important limitations persist, including heterogeneity in study design, limited long-term outcome data for emerging technologies, steep procedural learning curves, and disparities in global access. Particular emphasis is placed on the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and simulation-based training, which hold the potential to enhance operative precision and accelerate skill acquisition but require rigorous validation and ethical oversight. Cost-effectiveness and international dissemination remain central concerns, underscoring the need for scalable innovations and standardized training models to achieve equitable adoption. Sustainable advancement in MIGS will depend on rigorous evidence generation, structured training pathways, cost-conscious implementation, and policies that promote equitable access across healthcare systems
Study to monitor the adverse effects by different HAART regimens in HIV patients with tuberculosis
Background: In the modern era, AIDS is not less than a disaster for the human race. More than two-third of HIV-infected individuals have an associated infectious pulmonary disease. Mycobacterium tuberculosis is more virulent than most of other opportunistic pathogen causing latent infection. HIV is characterized by a profound immunodeficiency resulting from a progressive, quantitative and qualitative deficiency of the subset of CD4 T lymphocytes referred to as helper T cells leading to the patient at high risk of developing a variety of opportunistic infections. At present AIDS is incurable but some of the drugs have shown to decrease the mortality and morbidity of the disease. These are called as Highly Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy (HAART). However, these drugs are associated with a significant number of side effects. This work has been conducted in order to study the demographic profile of HIV patients with TB and monitor the adverse effects of different HAART regimens among them.Methods: A total of 3078 patients screened for the study. Those who were diagnosed with HIV were enrolled. Pretreatment parameters like, CD4, CD8 + lymphocyte count and their ratio, haemogram etc. were recorded. Patients were divided into four groups and were started with different HAART regimens. They were monitored regularly for the appearance of any adverse effects.Results: The prevalence of HIV sero-positivity was found to be 3.60%. Out of them, 71.18% were males and 28.82% were females. The highest prevalence (43.29%) was in the age group of 21-50 years. The sero-positive rate was found more in married males as compared to married females and unmarried cases. Side effects were present in all the groups. The most common side effect was GI intolerance and was most frequent in Group I. Anemia and neutropenia occurred in the Zidovudine containing groups (group I, III and IV). Peripheral neuropathy occurred most commonly in cases of Group II. Rashes occurred in nevirapine containing groups. Liver function derangement was noticed more in group I and II. 71.4% of patients on HAART regimen showed improvement in symptoms while 28.57% did not show any improvement.Conclusions: The prevalence of HIV sero-positivity in our study was 3.60%. The rate of sero-positivity was more in males as compared to females while it was highest in the individuals of 21-50 years of age. The most common side effect was GI intolerance and was most frequent in Group I. Anemia and neutropenia occurred most frequently in Zidovudine containing groups. Peripheral neuropathy occurred most commonly in cases of Group II (Stavudine + Lamivudine + Nevirapine). Deranged lipid profile was found to occur due to indinavir in patients of Group IV. After starting on HAART regimens, 74.4% showed significant improvement in symptoms
A Retrospective Study of Characteristics of HIV Infected Individuals Opting Out from Antiretroviral Treatment under National Programme
Background: Retention in care is important for optimal treatment outcomes and effective positive prevention. Reports from India and other countries have mentioned various factors affecting retention but the data on 'opting out' from Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) under the National AIDS Control Programme are scanty. Aim and Objectives: To estimate prevalence and predictors for opting out from Antiretroviral Treatment among HIV infected individuals attending ART center at ICMR-National AIDS Research Institute, Pune. Material and Methods: In this retrospective study, records of individuals taking ART between
January 2006 and May 2017 were reviewed. An individual who no longer wished to continue treatment with the national programme because of his/her personal choice and stopped visiting the centre was reported as being 'opted out' from the programme. Results: Of the total 3842 individuals ever initiated on ART, 115 (3%) individuals opted out. The possibility of opting out from ART was
4.9 [95% CI: 1.78-13.6, (p=0.002)] times more in individuals who showed declining trend in their CD4 counts and 8.8 [95% CI: 3.33-23.27,(p<0.001)] times more in individuals who received treatment for less than a year. Sixty four (56%) opted out individuals could not be contacted telephonically. Of the 51 (44%) individuals that
were contacted, 16 replied that they will visit the clinic as per their convenience. The reasons for opting out from ART in remaining 35 patients were inconvenience for coming to the clinic in terms of
distance or financial issues (13), taking treatment from private sector (10), side effects of the drugs (5), death (4) and taking treatment from other government programme clinics (3). Conclusion: Efforts should be taken to address the issues of
individuals not willing to continue ART from the programme clinics (opted out). The counseling should be strengthened to prevent the individuals opting out from the treatment. The national operational guidelines for ART services need to address the issues of these individuals so that they can be brought back into the programme
CDX2 inducible microRNAs sustain colon cancer by targeting multiple DNA damage response pathway factors
Meta-analysis of transcripts in colon adenocarcinoma patient tissues led to the identification of a DNA damage responsive miR signature called DNA damage sensitive miRs (DDSMs). DDSMs were experimentally validated in the cancerous colon tissues obtained from an independent cohort of colon cancer patients and in multiple cellular systems with high levels of endogenous DNA damage. All the tested DDSMs were transcriptionally upregulated by a common intestine-specific transcription factor, CDX2. Reciprocally, DDSMs were repressed via the recruitment of HDAC1/2-containing complexes onto the CDX2 promoter. These miRs downregulated multiple key targets in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway, namely BRCA1, ATM, Chk1 (also known as CHEK1) and RNF8. CDX2 directly regulated the DDSMs, which led to increased tumor volume and metastasis in multiple preclinical models. In colon cancer patient tissues, the DDSMs negatively correlated with BRCA1 levels, were associated with decreased probability of survival and thereby could be used as a prognostic biomarker.
