Abstract. A cross section descriptive study was carry out including 420 domestic cats from zoonosis centers of Bogotá (354 animals) and Cali (66 animals). The majority of cats were mixbreed animals (94,7%) with ages that oscillated between one and thirty six months. All the populations was submitted to physical examinations, evaluation of ectoparasites presence and capillary and venous blood sampling for clinical laboratory tests and smears to evaluate the presence of haemoparasites presence evaluation by Giemsa and Gram stains. Blood smears samples were taking without anticoagulant in order to identify the presence of: Babesia spp, Hepatozoon spp, Cytauxzoon spp, Trypanosoma spp, Leishmania spp, Dirofilaria spp, Mycoplasma spp, Anaplasma spp, Ehrlichia spp or Rickettsia spp. The 70,5% of the animals showed normal temperature and 46,9% pale mucous membranes. It was identified Mycoplasma spp 36% of presentation frecuency by a parásitological methods, however in 306 cats that had blood dried filter paper samples, it was established a 95% of presentation frecuency by PCR. For the case of the presence of ectoparasites the flea specie found in the cats evaluated was Ctenocephalides felis felis (37,1%); the presence of ticks was not observed. It was found association between Mycoplasma spp infections and the pale and white mucous membranes color. The values of presentation frecuency for Mycoplasma spp are related to the size of the sample and the diagnostic method employed .The findings of this study 36% of infections by parásitological methods and 95% by PCR demostrates the importance that the feline infectious anemia has within an environment such as ours.
Abstract: Anaplasmosis is a disease of great importance in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, which generates significant economic losses in world livestock production. It is an infection caused by bacteria of the genus Anaplasmaand affects a wide variety of hosts, including cattle, sheep, dogs and humans. In Colombia, there are few reports on the presence of Anaplasmain small ruminants, the diagnostic techniques used for identification include history, clinical signs, microscopy and only one molecular study, carried out in goats of the Department of Santander, however, thesereports have not allowed to identify the Anaplasmaspecies present in the country's sheep population. The detection of Anaplasma sp.,was carried out using blood samples takenfrom clinically healthy sheep in the municipality of Montelíbano, Córdoba, blood smears were evaluated by direct microscopy and molecular analyzes were initially made by PCR for the msp4gene of Anaplasma spp, subsequently the positive animals were evaluated to detect Anaplasma marginale andAnaplasma ovisalso using PCR for the msp4gene. The products were purified and sequenced to characterize the Anaplasma species present and the sequences obtained were used in the construction of a phylogenetic tree todetermine the genetic diversity of the species found It was found that 9.58% (16/167) of the individuals were positive to the direct microscopic examination while 35.33% (59/167) were initially positive to Anaplasma sppand later typified in its entirety as Anaplasma marginale. The BLASTn analysis of the sequences of the isolates showed that there is no great variability among them, however, the phylogenetic study allowed to determine the presence of two genotypes within the population, which were grouped in clades with isolates from North and Latin America respectively.Maestrí
Effect of Zinc supplementation of different Zinc sources on the Eimeria spp., control and growth of two sheep breeds in colombian tropic highlands
(Texto tomado de la fuente)Effect of Zinc supplementation in different Zinc sources on the Eimeria spp., control and growth of two sheep breeds in Colombian tropic highlands: Eimeriosis is a disease caused by parasites of the genus Eimeria, in Colombia the knowledge about the infection and its manifestations in ovines is scarce. The objective of this study was to know the species of Eimeria present in the herds of CIDTEO, and the effect of supplementation with an inorganic and an organic source of zinc on the excretion of oocysts and the presence of diarrhea and the decrease in weight gain in Creole and Hampshire breeds of the Centro Agropecuario Marengo (CAM). The body weight and its association with linear measurements were found for these two breeds. Results: The Eimeria species identified in the four breeds analyzed: Criolla, Hampshire, Romney Marsh and Corriedadale were: E. ashata, E. ovinoidalis, E. crandallis, E. faurei, E. granulosa, E. parva, E. weybridgensis, E. pallida, E. ovina and E. punctata. For the supplementation phase it was found that the oocyst count, transformed to log oocysts per gram (log OPG) was higher in the Hampshire breed than in the Criolla (2.92 vs. 2.29, P<0.05). The main manifestation was soft stool consistency, profuse diarrhea was found only in 4 / 82 individuals. Lamb body weight was affected by breed and type of lambing (P<0.001). Zinc supplementation had no effect as a protector against infection but did have an impact on decreasing the presentation of diarrhea and a trend toward decreased weight gain reduction at peak oocyst/ g fecal shedding. body weight was higher for single births (7.75 kg vs. 9.69 kg, P<0.05). It was also found that the Criollo breed is more resilient to the consequences of the infection. The Hampshire breed showed higher body weight (9.25 kg vs 8.19 kg), Body weight prediction equations for suckling lambs were developed from linear measures for each breed.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
