DA MASCULINIDADE AO “MACHISMO BRUTAL AGUDO”: PERCURSOS MASCULINOS EM PEDRO JUAN GUTIÉRREZ
Get PDFBased on the works of O rei de Havana and Fabián e o caos, by the contemporary Cuban author Pedro Juan Gutiérrez, the constructions of masculinities, that is, the different socio-historically attributed aspects of the being of being "man" are discussed. To do so, we take up the considerations of Elisabeth Badinter, in XY: sobre a identidade masculina; by Kate Millet, in Política sexual; by Wilhelm Reich, in A revolução sexual and by Heleieth Saffioti, in O poder do macho. It focuses the construction of masculine identities, which reflects, in turn, in sexuality and in relation to the other. The objective is, therefore, to recognize how, independently of the political system adopted, patriarchal relations determine the differentiation between right and wrong conduct in certain contexts, such as being gay in Cuba after the Castro revolution, leading to dissent and homophobia. It is also observed how these determinations of masculinity influence the relations between men and women, as well as they are based on a fragile discourse that bases the axiology’s of the being man.Com base nas obras de O rei de Havana e Fabián e o caos, do autor contemporâneo cubano Pedro Juan Gutiérrez, discute-se as construções das masculinidades, ou seja, os diferentes aspectos sócio-historicamente atribuídos ao ser do “ser homem”. Para tal, retoma-se as considerações de Elisabeth Badinter, em XY: sobre a identidade masculina; de Kate Millet, em Política sexual; de Wilhelm Reich, em A revolução sexual e de Heleieth Saffioti, em O poder do macho. Focaliza-se a construção das identidades masculinas, sendo que essa reflete na sexualidade e na relação com o outro. Objetiva-se, portanto, reconhecer como, independentemente do sistema político adotado, as relações patriarcais determinam a diferenciação entre as condutas certas e as condenáveis, em determinados contextos, como ser gay na Cuba pós-revolução castrista, que levam às dissidências e à homofobia. Observa-se igualmente como essas determinações da masculinidade influenciam as relações entre homens e mulheres, assim como alicerçam-se em um frágil discurso que fundamenta as axiologias do ser homem

Get PDFPoetry is capable of lyrically representing complex situations that instigate us to reflect on the purpose of our existence in a cruel universe. Thus, in this study, we consider the existentialist philosophical perspective of Martin Heidegger (2008) as an interpretative key within the poetry of the Portuguese poet Ruy Belo, which elucidates an existential aspect present in Belo’s poetics. The objective of this work is to establish connections between Heideggerian philosophy and the poetry of Ruy Belo (2017) to investigate the poetic persona present in the poem “Canto de Outono”. Accordingly, the methods used were based on hermeneutic-ontology research and bibliographical analysis. Critically, we emphasize the presence of time as the foundation of the poem. The poetic persona reflects on the ephemeral nature of the subject and encounters himself in the condition of existence in life as a passage, whereas nature, which initially grants vital energy to the individual, takes back for its own what is has borrowed. Therefore, time grants the subject a devastating action both on the individual himself, as his temporality is annihilated by the temporal movement, and of reality in its entirety, in the sense of the course of renewal of the seasons and of nature.A poesia consegue representar liricamente situações complexas que nos fomentam um pensamento reflexivo sobre nosso motivo de existência em um universo feroz e cruel. Com isso, neste estudo, enxergamos o campo filosófico existencialista de Martin Heidegger (2008) como uma chave interpretativa dentro da poesia do poeta português Ruy Belo que elucida um aspecto existencial presente na poética beliana. O objetivo do trabalho está centrado em estabelecer conexões entre a filosofia heideggeriana e a poesia de Ruy Belo (2017) para, dessa maneira, investigarmos densamente a voz lírica presente no poema “Canto de Outono”. Para isso, os métodos utilizados basearam-se na investigação filosófica hermenêutica-ontológica e na análise bibliográfica. Sobre a leitura crítica, sublinhamos a presença do tempo como fundamento do poema. O ser lírico reflete sobre o caráter efêmero do sujeito e se encontra na condição de existência na vida enquanto passagem, ao mesmo tempo que a natureza, que inicialmente concede energia vital ao indivíduo, toma de volta para si o que fora emprestado. Logo, o tempo confere ao sujeito uma ação devastadora tanto do próprio indivíduo, enquanto sua temporalidade é rasgada pelo movimento temporal, quanto da realidade como um todo, no sentido do curso de renovação das estações e da natureza
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
