Silver release of Ag (I) doped hydroxyapatite: In vitro study
No full textTurkoz, Mustafa Burak/0000-0002-4127-7650; Erdem, Umit/0000-0002-0480-8176A material is produced by doping of silver (Ag (I)) which has antibacterial property to nano hydroxyapatite (nHAp), to remove the hipersensitivity in the teeth by closing the dentine tubules or dental micro cracks of the teeth and effective against for some bacteria. The doping of Ag (I) can also produces a toxic effect. Ag (I) can be released from the structure as a result of biological, physical and chemical effects and may cause toxicity. Therefore, it is important to determine whether the presence of Ag (I) has a toxic effect. In this study, Ag (I)-doped nHAp was synthesized by precipitation method and tried to determine the release values as a function of time compared to the doping rate by using the ICP-OES. Also, the products we produce in simulated body fluid were kept for retention periods of 4-20 weeks to determine degradation percentages. A cytotoxicity study was performed to observe the toxic effect that may be caused by possible Ag (I) release. According to the analysis, the release values in all products were observed in ppb level. And it is concluded that the materials produced are not degraded. Cell viability values of more than 70% were obtained. It was observed that the release of Ag (I) bound to Ag (I)-doped nHAp hexagonal structure was very low. It was concluded that the products are not degraded and Ag (I)-doped nHAp to a certain ratio is a biocompatible material that can be used in dentistry for treatment
Global sensitivity analysis for repeated measures studies with informative drop-out: A semi-parametric approach
No full textIn practice, both testable and untestable assumptions are generally required to draw inference about the mean outcome measured at the final scheduled visit in a repeated measures study with drop-out. Scharfstein et al. (2014) proposed a sensitivity analysis methodology to determine the robustness of conclusions within a class of untestable assumptions. In their approach, the untestable and testable assumptions were guaranteed to be compatible; their testable assumptions were based on a fully parametric model for the distribution of the observable data. While convenient, these parametric assumptions have proven especially restrictive in empirical research. Here, we relax their distributional assumptions and provide a more flexible, semi-parametric approach. We illustrate our proposal in the context of a randomized trial for evaluating a treatment of schizoaffective disorder
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Predictors of achieving remission in schizophrenia patients treated with paliperidone palmitate 3-month formulation

This analysis aimed to identify patient and disease characteristics during PP1M treatment associated with greater likelihood of achieving remission after transition to PP3M.Methods: A post hoc analysis of a randomized, Phase III, double-blind, noninferiority trial of PP3M vs PP1M (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT01515423) was conducted in adult patients with schizophrenia. Patients achieving clinical stability after 17 weeks of open-label PP1M were randomized to 48 weeks of double-blind treatment with PP3M or PP1M. The primary objective of this exploratory post hoc analysis was to identify demographic and/or clinical variables associated with persistent remission after treatment with PP3M. Multiple logistic regression analysis identified the following significant predictors of remission: Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) Marder negative symptom factor score, Clinical Global Impression-Severity (CGI-S) total score, and Personal and Social Performance (PSP) total score.Results: At double-blind baseline, a 1-point reduction in Marder negative symptom factor score was associated with a 20% increase in the odds of achieving remission after PP3M treatment; 1-point reduction in CGI-S was associated with a doubling in remission odds; and 7- and 10-point improvements in PSP scores, respectively, were associated with 42% and 65% increases in remission odds.Conclusion: Patients with early clinically meaningful improvements in disease symptoms and severity while establishing stable PP1M dosage are more likely to achieve remission after transition to PP3M. No full textFeatures of the embodiment of the author’s position in the essay by I. A. Goncharov “Pepiniere” are considered. The relevance of the study is due to the poorly studied poetics of this work. A review of the scientific literature on relevant topics is performed. Methodological and theoretical definitions are given. The scientific novelty of the article is in the fact that for the first time attention is paid to artistic techniques that allow to identify the author's position in the specified literary text. The author of the article grounds her opinion from the fact that, despite the dominance of the subjective point of view, other characters’ views stand out in the work. It is concluded in the study that the text of the work represents a biographical author and author-creator. It was established that the position of the author-creator is expressed through the title, epigraphs, which are quotes, as well as through different points of view, including the author-character, the author-narrator, the characters of the work. The author of the article dwells in detail on different ways of expressing the points of view of the author-character and the author-narrator. It is proved that the point of view of the author-character and the author-narrator can intersect, they are interchanged. The author's development of the term comic “point of view” is presented in the article

No full textL'obra de l'autor nord-català Jordi Pere Cerdà (1920-2011) teixeix una cartografia literària que abasta tota dimensió espacial -real, imaginada i ficcional. Les prospeccions que assagen els seus texts es fonen en el medi natural i rural, canten a l'amor, als veïns i als éssers fantàstics del folklore català, es comprometen amb els refugiats encarant-se a tota frontera i, també, a tot abisme interior i exterior que oprimesca l'ésser. El mapatge cognitiu i literari que crea Cerdà sobrepassa qualsevol obstacle per construir espais oberts i possibles, en comunió amb l'altre. Partint d'una aproximació teòrica geocrítica, aquest treball d'investigació aprofundeix en diverses nocions sobre l'espacialitat lligades a un context convuls, ple de transformacions a nivell socioeconòmic, polític, cultural i lingüístic, el qual determinarà la vida d'un autor i d'un territori transfronterer com el de la Cerdanya i la Catalunya del Nord. En definitiva, la rica experiència vital de Jordi Pere Cerdà ens permet reflexionar sobre les relacions que vulguem establir entre els individus i amb el nostre hàbitat natural i cultural, a fi d'esdevenir membres actius que participen de la transformació dels espais que configuren les nostres identitats.The work of the North Catalan author Jordi Pere Cerdà (1920-2011) weaves a literary cartography which reaches all spatial dimensions -real, imagined and fictional. The prospections proved by their texts merge with the natural and rural environment, sing to love, neighbours and the fantastic beings of the Catalan folklore. Such prospections also commit themselves with the refugees facing every frontier and, also, facing all interior and exterior abyss that oppresses the being. The cognitive and literary mapping created by Cerdà overcomes any obstacle to construct opened and possible spaces, in communion with the other. Based on the theoretical approach called geocriticism, this research study delves into various notions about spatiality linked to a convulsive context, full of transformations at a socioeconomic, political, cultural and linguistic level; these transformations will determine the life of an author and a cross-border territory such as Cerdagne and Northern Catalonia. In short, the rich experience of Jordi Pere Cerdà allows us to reflect on the relationships we want to establish between individuals, as well as between human groups and our natural and cultural habitat, in order to become active members that participate in the transformation of the spaces that make up our identities.Programa de Doctorat en Llengües Aplicades, Literatura i Traducci

treballar a les aules de primària els llibres de l’autora i il·lustradora Olga de Dios. Tractant de treballar
el llibre com a objecte artístic a nivell elemental. A més, de presentar a l’autora i il·lustradora, donarla a conèixer i veure els valors que transmet, també llegiríem quatre de les seues obres a l’aula com
són: “Leotolda”, “En familia”, “Rana de Tres Ojos”, i “Pájaro Amarillo”. Tot açò sumat a la
realització d’un quadern de classe on es colorejaria alguns dels seus personatges de les obres seguint
pautes a nivell curricular. Realitzaríem també una eixida a la biblioteca municipal, on a banda de
rebre una educació no formal, ens facilitaria una mica el fet d’endinsar-nos al món de la il·lustració
infantil, on allí dins, el professional encarregat ens guiarà pels llibres que hi haurà a la biblioteca. I,
per a concloure, elaboraríem un llibre creat per l’alumnat on seguint unes pautes establertes per Olga
de Dios al seu llibre “Leotolda” buscaríem fer una retroalimentació intentant contactar amb ella.
D’aquesta manera tancaríem el cicle que vam començar donant-la a conèixer com a escriptora i
il·lustradora, i exploraríem on està el límit de la creativitat del propi alumnat.The final degree project you are going to see below is a project that looks at how books by author and
illustrator Olga de Dios can be worked on in primary school classrooms. Considering the book as an
artistic object at an elementary level. Besides presenting the author and illustrator, introducing her,
and seeing the values she transmits, we would also read four of her works in the classroom, such as:
"Leotolda”, "In the family", "Three-Eyed Frog", and "Yellow Bird.". All this, in addition to the
creation of a class notebook in which some of his characters from her work would be colored
following guidelines at the curricular level. We would also go out to the local library, where in
addition to receiving a non-formal education, it would make it a little easier for us to enter the world
of children's illustration, where inside, the professional in charge will guide us through the books
which will be in the library. And, to conclude, we would make a book created by the students, where
following some guidelines established by Olga de Dios in her book "Leotolda" we would look for
feedback by trying to contact her. In this way, we would close the cycle that we started by presenting
her as an author and illustrator, and we would explore where the limit of creativity of the students
themselves is
Efficacy and safety of once-monthly injection of paliperidone palmitate in hospitalized Asian patients with acute exacerbated schizophrenia: an open-label, prospective, noncomparative study
No full textHuaFang Li,1 Ibrahim Turkoz,2 Fan Zhang3 1Shanghai Mental Health Center, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, People’s Republic of China; 2Janssen Research & Development, LLC, Titusville, NJ, USA; 3Xi’an Janssen Pharmaceutical Ltd., Beijing, People’s Republic of China Introduction: This single-group, open-label, prospective, noncomparative, multicenter, Phase IV study explored the efficacy and tolerability of paliperidone palmitate (PP) in hospitalized patients with acute exacerbation of schizophrenia.Methods: Asian patients of either sex, between 18 and 65 years of age, diagnosed with schizophrenia (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition) with acute exacerbations within the previous 4 weeks, were enrolled. Intramuscular PP was initiated at doses of 150 milligram equivalent (mg eq) (day 1) and 100 mg eq (day 8), followed by a monthly maintenance dose between 75 mg eq and 150 mg eq (days 36 and 64). Primary efficacy endpoint was the change from baseline in the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) total score (last-observation-carried-forward) at week 13.Results: Of the 212 enrolled patients, 152 (71.7%) completed the 13-week treatment; withdrawal of consent (24 [11.3%] patients) was the most common reason for study discontinuation. Mean (standard deviation) PANSS total score from baseline (90.0 [17.41]) improved significantly at day 4 (-6.1 [9.27]; 95% confidence interval: -7.38, -4.85; P<0.001) and week 13 endpoint (-23.9 [23.24]; 95% confidence interval: -27.10, -20.78; P<0.001). Similarly, the secondary endpoints (Clinical Global Impression-Severity, Physical and Social Performance, each PANSS subscale, and Marder factor scores) improved significantly from baseline to week 13 endpoint (P<0.001 for all). At week 13, 112/210 (53.3%) patients had a 40% improvement in the PANSS total score (responder rate), and 133/212 (62.7%) patients were ready for hospital discharge. Overall, 139 (65.6%) patients experienced at least one treatment-emergent adverse event (TEAE). Most common (>5%) TEAEs were hyperprolactinemia, constipation, nasopharyngitis, insomnia, increased weight, and tremor. Worsening of schizophrenia (3.3%) and sinus bradycardia (2.0%) were serious TEAEs; no deaths were reported.Conclusion: PP was generally tolerable and efficacious in a hospital setting for the treatment of acute exacerbated schizophrenia with significant improvements in psychotic symptoms, social functioning, and severity of illness.
