The causal relationship between hotel restaurant brand attributes, customer brand personality, walk-in customer dining experience, satisfaction and post behaviour intention / Tuan Ahmad Tuan Ismail
Brands are becoming a dominant trend in all industries as building a strong brand
creates value for both the firm and the customer. The relationship between brands and
consumers is built once the customers get to know a brand, use its facilities and
experience it. The importance of brand is without an exception is also associated with
the restaurant industry. That's the reason why creating a strong brand is one of the
strategies used by many independent and hotel restaurant operations in attracting and
retaining customers for its performance and operational survival. Nevertheless,
despite the increasing interest in the concept of brand loyalty, brand awareness, brand
image, brand competitiveness in general restaurant setting and its operational aspects,
there has been still very little research looking at the association of brands with the
hotel restaurant setting in" particular. In this sense, the influence of hotel restaurant
brands attributes together with the customer brand personality on the customers
dining experience, satisfaction and their post behavior intention has yet not
holistically been investigated. With this gap, the present study empirically
investigates the causal relationship between the five-star hotel restaurant brand
attributes, customer brand personality and the walk- in customer dining experience,
satisfaction and their post purchase behavior. In achieving the outcomes, a causal
research design using through a quantitative approach was used and the walk-in
customer who patronage of the selected five-star hotel restaurants in the Klang Valley
were chosen as a sample for this study. Through drop-off and collect approach
adopted for the administration, 482 usable questionnaires were successfully collected.
With the various statistical analyses ranging from frequency, descriptive, inferential
and the Multivariate Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) via AMOS (Analysis of
Moment Structures) is used to answer the objectives, research questions and
hypotheses. With that, some useful insights pertaining to the issues investigated was
significantly obtained. The results of the structural modelling revealed that the hotel
restaurant brand attributes (food quality, service quality and physical environment)
have a very slight influence on the walk-in customer post purchase behavior
compared to customer brand personality. The hotel restaurant brand attributes (food
quality, service quality and physical environment) and customer brand personality
however have a strong influence of the walk-in customer dining experience and their
dining experience at the five-star hotel restaurants also influences their level of
satisfaction as well as the post purchase behavior intention. It is interesting to note
that the intangible dining experience has an indirect effect on the relationship between
the customer brand personality and the walk-in customer satisfaction. As expected,
satisfaction is giving a mediating effect on the relationship between dining experience
and customer post purchase behavior. These optimistic indications carry varying
consequences and implications to the academic perspective and practical perspective
particularly pertains to the walk-in customers and hotel restaurant operational
management and those closely associated with this kind of business operation
Effect of varying resin content and board densities on the properties of three layers particleboard from kelempayan. / Tuan Mohd Fakrul Tuan Ismail
The aim of this study was to investigate the use of Kelempayan species in
manufacturing three layer particleboard panels. The boards were fabricated
with three different densities (500 kg/m3
, 600 kg/m3 and 700 kg/m3
). The
sample also has different type of the resin content (8 %, 10 % and 12 %).
The boards produced was evaluated for its modulus of rupture
(MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE), internal bond (IS), water absorption (VVA)
and thickness swelling (TS) in accordance with the Japan industry Standards
(JIS) A 5908:2003. The result show passed standard value based on JIS A
5908:2003 Type 13 for mechanical properties is density 600 kg/m3 with
resin 12 %, the result shown in MOR (14.94 MPa) and IS (0.29 MPa). For
density 700 kg/m3 with resin 8 % and 10 % only pass in MOR and IS but for
resin 12 %, the all mechanical properties passed the standard value of JIS.
For physical properties, only pass in thickness swelling (11.90 %) with
density 600 kg/m3 and 12 % resin content. It is concluded that the boards
with the density of 700 kg/m3 were able to fulfill the Japan Industry Standards
specifications
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

The characterization of recycled concrete aggregate as filter in removal of phosphorus
Phosphorus (P) is one of the key nutrients that lead to eutrophication problem in surface water. However, the existing conventional wastewater treatment system to remove phosphorus is expensive and require a complex process. Therefore, a system using low cost and environmental friendly should be practiced to overcome this problem. Recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) used as a filter system emerged as an alternative technology for phosphorus removal. This can overcome the problem of construction site waste by converting the waste into something valuable products. Thus, this study aim to investigate the physical and chemical characteristic of RCA that influenced adsorption of P. RCA was analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) testing to determine chemical composition. Results shows that RCA is highly contained with Aluminium, Calcium and Magnesium elements that enhanced the Phosphorus adsorption
Geo-engineered dredged marine sediments via induced consolidation and heat treatment for reclamation works
Typically, dredged marine sediments (DMS) are soft, relatively poor in engineering properties and contaminated from upstream sources. DMS are therefore routinely discarded inland or offshore, inadvertently raising contamination risks throughout the process. However, with pre-treatment to both eliminate the contaminants and to enhance the engineering properties, DMS can be reused as backfills in reclamation works. The present study examines the combination of preloading and heating to address the aformentioned problems. 1D compressibility tests with the standard oedometer were executed at incremental loads of 5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 kPa
to examine the material’s consolidation behaviour. The consolidated sample from each
loading was then subjected to staged heat treatment at 105, 350, 550 and 650 °C to decontaminate the DMS. The contamination level was indirectly assessed via electrical conductivity (EC) and pH measurements at predetermined time intervals of heating for 24 hours. The oedometer tests showed significant improvement in terms of settlement control under preloading of the DMS, where excess pore water was forcefully discharged to induce consolidation and stiffening of the soil. As for the heat treatment, both EC and pH readings indicated the highest chemical activity in the temperature window of 300-400oC, suggesting an optimal decontamination rate for all preloading cases within the temperature range. In summary, combined preloading and heat treatment of DMS could reduce post-construction settlement of the DMS in reclamation works as well as the contamination risks, where field application would require an incorporated removal system for the dissolved contaminants
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
