Coscienza e religione in Hobbes: una prospettiva etico-politica

    No full text

Methodologies and tools for collecting, recording and sharing flood data information and associated damages and losses

As disaster risk is increasing, due to many causes as the land use change, increased exposure in hazard prone areas, climate change, higher amount of data available through the years etc., many international organizations have underlined the importance of gathering and recording disaster loss data. The disaster loss data can be very useful because with increased understanding of the disaster trends and their impacts, better prevention, mitigation and preparedness measures can be planned to reduce the impact of disasters on the communities. In the common goal of reducing the risk of forthcoming disasters, legislation, initiatives, documents and frameworks at national, European and international level have been produced during the last decades to find common targets and set milestones. In Europe the “Floods Directive” 2007/60/EC (FD) require Member States to develop, among others, a Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment – PFRA. To support the PFRA, in Italy was conceived the FloodCat flood events catalogue (Flood Catalogue) which is a web-GIS platform created by the Department of Civil Protection to allow the systematic collection of information on past flood events. In this study a comparison is made between FloodCat and some selected international, European and national level frameworks, documents, directives and databases in order to see how much FloodCat is in line with similar initiatives in the Disaster Risk Reduction field. The state of emergency in Italy have been investigated in a holistic manner starting from alerting procedures to the declaration of the state of emergency and state of natural calamity till the damage compensation by the state administration. The implementation of FloodCat system in Marche Region as a pilot region for FloodCat test, use, improvement and optimisation have been described in detail. An event case study (May 2014) have been analysed from the point of view of damage data. And finally an effort have been made to apply economic damage estimation to FloodCat records. This study pays particular attention to the damage and loss data after flood events

Forest Commons as a Model for Territorial Governance

    No full text
Territorial governance enables territorial development, moving away from sectorial approaches, towards place-based and highly adaptable models. Most territorial governance studies take a socio-institutional, or spatial planning perspective. Still, territorial governance happens in and through other policy domains, interacting among them and with the territory in various ways, to produce territorial development. The sustainability of the latter is affected by the presence of collective action and socio-ecological resilience, best seen through the study of socio-ecological interactions. As an example to unravelling territorial governance through lenses of other policy domains, this chapter examines ecosystem-based forest commons’ governance. Resilience of forest commons as resources and as institutions leads the society towards sustainable territorial development at local and global scales. The illustration of this account comes through exploring the Albanian model of forest commons within a river basin. The model embodies all ecosystem values besides the merely utilitarian ones and discusses the dimensions of territorial governance for forest commons. It does so through fit-to-context factors for robustness and adaptability. Evidences are collected through visual surveys, interviews, and focus groups systematically researching a number of commons’ variables of endurance and functionality

    No full text

Self-directed learning: An innovative strategy for sport and physical education.

    No full text
A rapidly developing research area focuses on the study of Self-directed learning (SDL) applied to sport and physical education. The hypothesis is that this methodology can, in extracurricular contexts, improve development and athletic performance in an effective and efficient way. The data were collected by 20 secondary school students, engaged in an 80 m fast running performance, divided into two groups: the first group followed the SDL methodology (n = 10; age = 16.7) and the second group (n = 10; age = 16.9) followed traditional training programme led by a schoolteacher. At the same, initial conditions were evaluated by an entry test (speed test) and at the end of the two treatments, which lasted for 3 weeks, the test was re-administered to evaluate the results and individual interviews were conducted to evaluate perceptions and self-efficacy. In addition to fast running, arms and legs were assessed with isotonic exercises. The monitoring of the two treatments was self-directed in the SDL and conducted by the teacher in the traditional training. The results obtained demonstrate the SDL in sports performance, if not performed by professionals in which the practice is already validated, obtains poor results in terms of both outcomes and perception. The result of this experimental work provides the basis for the interventions that promote the SDL methodology applied to sport and physical education within formal school contexts, still used today in informal and sporting contexts

CONTEMPORARY TRENDS IN STUDIES ON MOBILE LEARNING OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES: A META-ANALYSIS.

    No full text
Previous research has provided a review of the literature on the state of research on mobile learning, but the use of m-learning and MALL to formal and informal learning of foreign languages needs further study. The need to review the language learning assisted by mobile devices emerges from a globalized context, in which pedagogy must question itself to plan and design research drawings in which mobile learning assumes a fundamental importance in teaching practice aimed above all at new generations of students. This study adopts a meta-analysis approach to systematically review the literature, thus providing a more complete analysis and synthesis of 83 studies from 2009 to 2018. Previous studies focus on the effectiveness and design of the mobile learning system. The search for databases and citations was performed by limiting the keywords referring to m-learning and to MALL. Compared to existing reviews, the results confirm revealing a skill-based approach to language learning with an emphasis on vocabulary, learning factors that influence students' perceptions and availability to use new cellular technologies
