Bakalaureusetöö Keskkonnakaitse õppekavalValgepõsk-lagle on Eestis kevadrändel peatuv haneline, kelle populatsiooni arvukus on alates 1950. aastast 120 korda suurenenud. Lääne-Eesti on olnud traditsiooniline valgepõsk laglede peatusala läbi aegade. Riikliku seire raames toimunud valgepõsk-laglede lennuloenduse andmete kohaselt on Lääne-Eestis peatuvate laglede arvukus stabiliseerunud vaatamata liigi populatsiooni jätkuvale kasvule. Käesoleva töö eesmärgiks on teada saada, kuidas on muutunud peatuvate valgepõsk-laglede levikumustrid kevadrändel aastate lõikes, ning kas peatuvate laglede arvukus Eestis on kevadrändel jäänud stabiilseks või suurenenud. Töös kasutatud andmed pärinevad eElurikkuse andmebaasist ja Lääne-Eestis läbiviidud lennuloendustest. Enne andmetega töötamist tuli neid korrigeerida, näiteks välistada ülelennul või rändel olevad isendid, saartel loendatud linnud. Peale andmete korrigeerimist moodustati alates rannajoonest sisemaa poole tsoonid kuni 2 km, 2–7,5 km ning lisaks 7,5– 15 km ja 15–30 km. Eesti rannik jagati omakorda kolmeks lõiguks: Põhja-, Lääne- ja Edela Eesti. Töös saadi teada, et Eestis kevadrändel peatuvate valgepõsk-laglede arvukus on jätkuvalt kasvav. Viimastel kümnenditel on oluliselt kasvanud ka sisemaal peatuvate lagled hulk. Saadi teada, et Lääne- ja Edela-Eestis peatuvad lagled eelistavad rannast kuni 7,5 km kaugusel asuvaid toitumisalasid ning Põhja-Eestis peatuvad lagled 15 km kaugusel asuvaid toitumisalasid. Kuna kevadrändel peatuvad linnud on suureks murekohaks põllumeestele, tuleks põllumajanduskülvikutel kahjude vähendamiseks taastada ja hooldada rannaniite. The Barnacle goose is a goose that stops during spring migration in Estonia, and its population has increased 120-fold since 1950. West Estonia has always been a traditional staging place for Barnacle goose. According to the census data of Barnacle goose conducted within the framework of geese monitoring, the number of geese stopping in West Estonia has stabilized despite the continuing growth of the species population. This study aims to determine how the distribution patterns of Barnacle goose in spring migration have changed over the years and whether the number of staging geese in Estonia has remained stable or increased during spring migration. The data used in work comes from the eElurikkus database and aerial censuses conducted in West Estonia. Before data analysis, it was corrected and reviewed. After fixing the data, the zones up to 2 km, 2–7.5 km, 7.5–15 km and 15–30 km from the coastline were created to study the spatial distribution of birds from the coastline. The Estonian coast was divided into three sections: Northern, Western and Southwestern Estonia. It was found that the number of Barnacle geese staging in Estonia during spring migration continues to grow. The number of Barnacle goose staging inland has also increased significantly in the recent decade. It was found that geese staging in Western and Southwestern Estonia prefer feeding areas up to 7.5 km from the coastline but up to 15 km away from the shoreline in northern Estonia. As birds staging during spring migration is a major concern for farmers, coastal meadows should be restored and maintained to reduce crop damage

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    Get PDF
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Lõputöö eesmärk oli valmistada koostöös ansambliga Terminaator kaheksa erinevat lavakostüümi, mis moodustavad viis komplekti- laulja Jaagup Kreem (särk “Beth” & jakk “Rip”), kitarrist Taavi Langi (meeste poolkombinesoon “Lloyd”), basskitarrist Henno Kelp (särk “Lee” & ratsapüksid “Jimmy”), klaverimängija Rene Puura (särk “John” & vest “Tate”) ja trummarist Roland Puusepp (särk “Kayce”). Töös kirjeldatakse suvel toimuva Urissaare kantrifestivali jaoks valminud kollektsiooni loomise protsessi. Nende arvutuskäikude põhjal on arvutatud ligikaudne toodete omahind kui ka müügihind- Särk “Beth” 254,4 €, ratsapüksid “Jimmy” 125,7 €, Särk “John” 287,2 €, särk “Kayce” 99,6 € , särk “Lee” 242,3 € , poolkombinesoon “Lloyd” 170,4 € , jakk “Rip” 153,9 € ja vest “Tate” 95,8 €The aim for the thesis “Creating Stage Costumes for the Rock Band Terminaator” was to make, in collaboration with the band Terminaator, eight different stage costumes which form five sets- singer Jaagup Kreem (shirt "Beth" & jacket "Rip"), guitarist Taavi Langi (overalls "Lloyd"), bass guitarist Henno Kelp (shirt "Lee" & chaps "Jimmy"), pianist Rene Puura (shirt "John" & vest "Tate"), and drummer Roland Puusepp (shirt "Kayce"). The thesis describes the process of creating the collection for the Urissaare country music festival held in the summer. The keywords for designing the collection were country style and effectiveness with both design and fabrics to compose a visual coherence. Earthy tones such as denim blue, light brown, dark brown, beige, green, and black were chosen as colors. The design included typical country style elements like leather, fringes, embroideries, chaps, overalls, various yokes, and traditional country checkered fabrics. Fashion and technical drawings were created by using Adobe Illustrator. The pieces were constructed using the M. Müller & Sohn construction method—basic block patterns for shirt, pants, jacket, and vest were constructed and then modeled according to the design. After making samples, necessary adjustments were made considering the specific body characteristics of the band members. Patterns were created using Lectra Modaris software. In the technological aspect, unit schemes were made for all models, and as an addition at the end of the thesis, the description of sewing process flow of the products is provided (annex 9). Artificial leather fabrics, upholstery fabric, black fabric, and interlinings recurred in different models, for which combined markers were made using Lectra Marker Manager and Marker Making programs to achieve more efficient placement. An approximate fabric consumption for each model was calculated. Thread consumption calculation was also done, seams of each model were measured and multiplied by the corresponding coefficient and 15% wastage of thread was added. Based on these calculations, an approximate cost price and selling price of the products were calculated- shirt “Beth” 254,4 €, chaps “Jimmy” 125,7 €, shirt “John” 287,2 €, shirt “Kayce” 99,6 €, shirt “Lee” 242,3 €, overalls “Lloyd” 170,4 €, jacket “Rip” €153,9 €, and vest “Tate” 95,8 €

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    Get PDF
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
