CAMPUR KODE PADA TEKS LAGU DALAM ALBUM CAN’T BUY MY LOVE OLEH YUI YOSHIOKA
Code mixing is the use of more than one language or code in a discourse although the pattern is not clearly understood. In the globalization era, Japan language has been influenced by the foreign culture. The example of this case is the code mixing of the texts of songs in Can’t Buy My Love Album. Problems in this research are (1) how is the form and type of code mixing in the text of Japan language songs in Can’t Buy My Love Album which are performed by Yui Yoshioka, and (2) how is the function of communication in the code mixing in the text of Japan language songs in Can’t Buy My Love Album which are performed by Yui Yoshioka. Research is qualitative descriptive. The objective of research is to obtain a descriptive view about code mixing in Japan song texts. Result of research indicates that there are four code mixings in the texts of Japan songs in Can’t Buy My Love Album. These four code mixings represent the form of code mixings which are the insertion of words, phrases, word replicates, and clauses. The type of song texts in Can’t Buy My Love Album is the external type of code mixing. There three functions of communication in Can’t Buy My Love Album, which are social communication, expressive communication and instrumental communication. The author suggests that other student shall carry out further research with the wider data source to obtain more variable results.  Keywords: Language, Language Variation, Code Shift, Code Mixin
The few works which talk about the transition from sail to steam in the
Spanish merchant marine, analyze it in terms of decadence and failure. But
these imptessions do not pair with an analysis of the Spanish fleet from an
International perspective: it was among the pionneers, together with Great
Britain, to complete the technological modernization of its ships. The objective
of this paper is to describe and explain the process of technical diffusion, the
changes in the institutional framework, and the business strategy of Spanish
shipowners in this context.Publicad
Existence of Firth's modified estimates in binomial regression models
In logistic regression modeling, Firth's modified estimator is widely used to
address the issue of data separation, which results in the nonexistence of the
maximum likelihood estimate. Firth's modified estimator can be formulated as a
penalized maximum likelihood estimator in which Jeffreys' prior is adopted as
the penalty term. Despite its widespread use in practice, the formal
verification of the corresponding estimate's existence has not been
established. In this study, we establish the existence theorem of Firth's
modified estimate in binomial logistic regression models, assuming only the
full column rankness of the design matrix. We also discuss other binomial
regression models obtained through alternating link functions and prove the
existence of similar penalized maximum likelihood estimates for such models

A Note on the Formal Groups of Weighted Delsarte Threefolds
One-dimensional formal groups over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic are classified by their height. In the case of K3 surfaces, the height of their formal groups takes integer values between 1 and 10 or ∞. For Calabi-Yau threefolds, the height is bounded by h¹'² + 1 if it is finite, where h¹'² is a Hodge number. At present, there are only a limited number of concrete examples for explicit values or the distribution of the height. In this paper, we consider Calabi-Yau threefolds arising from weighted Delsarte threefolds in positive characteristic. We describe an algorithm for computing the height of their formal groups and carry out calculations with various Calabi-Yau threefolds of Delsarte type. While the author was preparing for this manuscript, he visited Noriko Yui several times at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Queen’s University and at the Fields Institute in Canada. Connecting the Metropolis and the Colony: the Despatches from the Governors of Hong Kong to the Colonial Office of the UK, 1843 – 1926
This study investigates into the communication history of Hong Kong from 1843 to 1926 in the colonial period. It aims to fill the gaps as seen in previous studies of the British Empire, British colonialism and the history of Hong Kong. The study has found that the time-consuming process of conveying official despatches to the Colonial Office posed persistent problems for both the Governors of Hong Kong and the Secretary of State in the United Kingdom. With the advent of the telegraph, however, more efficient communication between the counterparts was achieved. The Colonial Office was thus equipped with an efficient means for instant updating of the situation in Hong Kong as well as close monitoring of the administration of the Hong Kong government. Our study also analyses the “information order” existed within the correspondence between the Colonial Office and the Governors, which was considered to be framed by the rules and regulations imposed by the Colonial Office. Drawing upon statistical findings, the researcher argues that, apart from telegrams, confidential and secret despatches served as key components of the nerve system of the British rule; our examination of their usage, the underlying regulations and endorsement (or otherwise) from the home government serves to unmask the power relations as well as the conscious and subconscious anxieties of the Empire and its colonies.Cheng, Yui Tat.Thesis Ph.D. Chinese University of Hong Kong 2017.Includes bibliographical references (leaves ).Abstracts also in Chinese.Title from PDF title page (viewed on …).Detailed summary in vernacular field only
