TINA as a virtual market place for telecommunication and information services: the VITAL experiment
No full textThe VITAL (Validation of Integrated Telecommunication Architectures for the Long-Term) project has defined, implemented and demonstrated an open distributed telecommunication architecture (ODTA) for deploying, managing and using a set of heterogeneous multimedia, multi-party, and mobility services. The architecture was based on the latest specifications released by TINA-C. The architecture was challenged in a set of trials by means of a heterogeneous set of applications. Some of the applications were developed within the project from scratch, while some others focused on integrating commercially available applications. The applications were selected in such a way as to assure full coverage of the architecture implementation and reflect a realistic use of it. The VITAL experience of refining and implementing TINA specifications and challenging the resulting platform by a heterogeneous set of services has proven the openness, flexibility and reusability of TINA. This paper describes the VITAL approach when choosing the different services and how they challenge and interact with the architecture, focusing especially on the service architecture and the Ret reference point definitions. The VITAL adjustments and enhancements to the TINA architecture are described. This paper contributes to proving that the TINA-based VITAL ODTA allows for easy and cost-effective development and deployment of advanced end-user and operator services, and can indeed act as the basis for a virtual market place for telecommunications service
Engineering of interworking TINA-based telecommunication services
Get PDFThis paper describes a Service Creation approach being developed in the EU funded ACTS TOSCA (TINA Open Service Creation Architecture) project to rapidly develop validated TINA based multimedia telecommunications services. The approach is based around object-oriented software frameworks in SDL which are specialized towards services by means of graphical paradigm tools.
Further, in TOSCA, the need for service interworking across service provider domains via federation has been recognized in order to allow users to join service sessions offered by providers they are not customers of. However, service interworking may cause undesired behavior - the so called service interaction phenomenon. This paper focuses on this issue and the underlying technology of the service creation approach with emphasis on how service federation has been implemented

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência da Computação.O contínuo crescimento das redes de telecomunicações e das aplicações multimídia para a internet tem despertado interesse não só de pesquisadores, como também de profissionais da área de redes de computadores e de usuários em geral. Neste cenário, os fornecedores necessitam de mecanismos para se assegurarem que irão receber pelos serviços que estão disponibilizando, e os usuários também precisam ter a garantia de que pagarão exatamente pelo que solicitaram. Todos estes serviços e informações podem ser alvos de ataques, e estes ataques podem ser provenientes de dentro da própria rede ou por indivíduos externos a esta rede. Neste contexto, o TINAC (Telecommunications Information Networking Architecture Consortium) desenvolveu uma arquitetura detalhada para as redes de comunicação multi-serviço que permite o acesso às informações entre provedores e usuários em tempo-real, dentro de um ambiente seguro e confiável. Neste trabalho, será discutido as características e os requisitos de contabilidade e segurança dentro do contexto do gerenciamento de contabilidade. Um modelo para a segurança da contabilidade TINA é proposto utilizando os conceitos de segurança multilateral, o qual permite o estabelecimento de relações seguras entre os diversos participantes TINA. Por fim, um protótipo será implementado para validar os conceitos apresentados

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência da Computação.Na área das telecomunicações, a crescente evolução e o constante desenvolvimento de novas tecnologias, aliado a fatores econômicos, tem proporcionado um grande impacto em praticamente todos os setores da sociedade. Além disso, a inexistência de padrões no setor de telecomunicações evidenciou as diferenças entre as estruturas das operadoras, onde existe uma constante introdução de novos serviços. Para atender rapidamente esta necessidade, faz-se necessário o uso de tecnologias avançadas que permitam conduzir a especificação e desenvolvimento desses serviços de uma maneira ágil e eficiente. Dentre tais tecnologias, pode se citar a orientação a objetos, reuso de componentes, sistemas distribuídos, arquitetura de serviços e, principalmente, TINA (Telecommunications Information Networking Architecture) devido à sua natureza aberta e independente de tecnologia. Os conceitos e os princípios de TINA foram elaborados com o objetivo de solucionar problemas existentes em IN (Intelligent Network), como o de controle de serviços centralizados e do modelo de dados de serviços. Nesse sentido, torna-se evidente que serviços mais complexos como multimídia e vídeo conferência precisam ser manipulados e gerenciados de uma forma mais rápida, eficiente e dinâmica. Neste contexto, TINA desenvolveu uma arquitetura detalhada para as redes de comunicações multi-serviços que permitem o intercâmbio de informações entre os usuários e os provedores em tempo real dentro de um ambiente seguro e confiável, onde o gerenciamento dos serviços TINA definidos pelas funções de gerenciamento FCAPS (Failure, Configurations, Accounting, Performance e Security) são ainda questões abertas para a pesquisa. Portanto, este trabalho de pesquisa tem como objetivo realizar um estudo e a análise deste contexto, propondo um modelo para responder as questões de segurança em um ambiente de serviço TINA. Este modelo esta principalmente relacionado com o gerenciamento de contabilidade em tempo real para múltiplos usuários e múltiplos provedores, onde os aspectos de segurança estão relacionados às políticas e mecanismos proporcionados pelos modelos de Segurança Multilateral e RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) e validado através do uso da técnica de descrição formal LOTOS e a implementação de um protótipo

The TINA Consortium is developing a software architecture that aims to support both communication and information services in an open services market. This paper examines the suitability of TINA for use in an open services market based on Internet technology. An implementation of a composite, IP-based service that uses features of the TINA Service Architecture is presented, and the implications for the wider integration of TINA and the Internet in the delivery of open services are discussed

Lo que se intenta hacer es sacar a la luz la labor realizada por Modotti en España durante la Guerra Civil, en cuanto momento más desconocido en las biografías a ella dedicadas. Modotti, compañera sentimental del comandante «Carlos J. Contreras», trabajó para el Socorro Rojo Internacional, desempeñando decisivas y peligrosas funciones como enfermera, a lado de Matilde Landa y también como periodista para la revista Ayuda. Entró así en contacto con varios exponentes de la cultura española y entre ellos con Miguel Hernández de cuyo libro, Viento del Pueblo fue promotora. Finalmente lo que se pretende es presentar la vida de Modotti desmitificándola y restituyéndole el papel que tuvo en España y en general en el ámbito del movimiento internacionalista.The article is about the interesting life of the famous photographer and revolutionary Tina Modotti who lived between the American and European continent during the crucial time of the twenties and thirties in the 20th century. The aim of the text is to high light the work done by Modotti in Spain during the Civil War, as this was a virturally unknown period in the biographies about her. Modotti, the paramour of the commandant -Carlos J. Contreras», worked for the International Red Aid and carried out important and dangerous missions as a nurse alongside Matilde Landa, and also as a journalist for the journal Ayuda. In this way she carne into contad with many representative people of the Spanish culture, among them, Miguel Hernández who was a promoter of the publication Viento del pueblo. Finally, with this paper we would like to produce a demystified biography of Modotti in order to highlight the historie role that she truly played both in Spain as well as in tihe fíeld of the internationalist movement.Publicad

The Use of TINA Principles in the Management of Internet Multimedia Conferences
No full textThis paper shows how some of the TINA principles used in the development of Service Management techniques for the Broadband ISDN may be applied to the management of Internet Services. In the original B-ISDN concept of these services, it was assumed that there would be B-ISDN components in both the network and subscriber systems. In the Internet version of the services, it was considered that IP Multicast would be used for the multimedia conferencing services. In the approach adopted here, the normal Internet functionality is maintained unchanged in the subscriber equipment; modifications in the access network dealt with the differences between the BISDN and the Internet. The paper discusses the architecture adopted, the applications services integrated and the methods employed to demonstrate remotely the system. The latter encompassed the novel use of Direct Broadcast Satellite connectivity, for the purposes of the demonstration
