Mobility plays a central role in the socio - economic dynamics of cities. The innovation recently brought into the market for mobility by apps and social media impacts upon the economic appeal of cities and benefits both the demand and the supply side s of the market. Several ‘practice - based communities’ now offer innovative solutions producing such effects. Their initiatives do not move through the traditional channels of policy and big investment, although they still contribute towards market efficien cy and appreciate the human capital of urban realities. They do so by collecting and conveying useful information to the whole community of users, by proposing new ways of sharing and using resources, and by favouring the equilibrium conditions in the mark et. This paper discusses practice - based communities and suggests what policymakers could (or should) do to promote similar initiatives
The lifetime determination of ARC reactor as a load-following plant in the energy framework
Energy studies are interdisciplinary studies. They involve not just technical aspects, but also environmental, social and political aspects. In this framework, an advanced technological innovation as a part of simple solution for the energy problem is considered. The role of the fusion energy as new energy source and in particular the project Affordable Robust Compact (ARC) fusion reactor as new technology is presented as part of energy policy. The most innovative characteristics of ARC is its integration in the energy grid as load-following power plant. In particular, the proposed study investigates the stresses induced in the vacuum vessel, the closest component to the plasma. The performed analysis has been focused on the quantification of time in which the vessel would fail due to repeated thermal stress when it works as load-following. It has been demonstrated that the vacuum vessel lifetime can be quantified from three to five years on the basis of the thermal cycles considered (i.e. 3, 10 and 20 cycles per day)
Who is the author of the 1876 Stefano manuscript?
For over one hundred years the Stefano manuscript was a private document in the possession of the Baccich family and descendants. It told a story of the 1875 Stefano shipwreck as narrated by the shipwreck survivor and the founding family patriarch Miho Baccich. In these circumstances the question of authorship of the manuscript was immaterial and did not arise as an issue. However, with the publication of the manuscript the author‟s name, or names, need to be formally attributed to it. It turns out that this is not such a clear-cut matter.
As we shall see, all informed sources attributed the authorship, and the ownership, of the manuscript to Miho Baccich. But the manuscript itself was written by Canon Stjepan Skurla – a priest from Miho‟s hometown of Dubrovnik. The question then arises: should Skurla also be considered as an author of the manuscript, or, even as the sole author (as some would have it)

Evaluation of a potential reintroduction of nuclear energy in Italy to accelerate the energy transition
Nuclear energy was adopted in Italy in the past to deal with the insufficient fossil fuels on the national territory. After a public vote subsequent to the Chernobyl accident, Italy abandoned the use of nuclear energy and nowadays adopts a mix of fossil fuels and renewable energy sources for electricity production. However, the urging environmental pollution and climate change issues are forcing Italy to realize a so-called “energy tran- sition” towards a more sustainable energy production and consumption system. In this framework, following the examples of other countries, it could be re-evaluated the adoption of nuclear to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels. In the present paper, it is presented an overview of the nuclear energy history in Italy and the current and projected electricity demand and supply. Then, with reference to the Italian framework and policies, the main advantages and disadvantages of a hypothetical reintroduction of nuclear energy are presented. The analysis shows that the adoption of nuclear energy would bring several advantages in terms of lower emissions, higher security of supply and enabling of possible other technologies; the main disadvantages are related to the op- posing public opinion and the nuclear waste management
Exploration of a fast pathway to nuclear fusion: first thermomechanical considerations for the ARC reactor

From Lausanne to Luxembourg: the CJEU’s Seraing Judgment and the Boundaries of Sports Arbitration Under EU Law
In this expert analysis, Professor Stefano Bastianon dissects the CJEU’s landmark Seraing ruling (Case C-600/23), which reshapes the contours of sports arbitration under EU law. With particular focus on judicial review and EU public policy, the author explores how the Court balances the autonomy of arbitral mechanisms like CAS with the imperative of effective judicial protection — a judgment that could have far-reaching implications for the future of dispute resolution in sport
Recensione di Robert G. La France, Bachiacca: artist of the Medici court, Firenze, Olschki, 2008
ABSTRACT ITALIANO

ARC reactor: A preliminary tritium environmental impact study
The fusion pilot power plant ARC is a conceptual design of a D–T Tokamak under investigation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Special attention is paid on the radiological hazard, which until now has been translated in the reduction of materials activation. Indeed, one of ARC main goals is to be fast deployable in any US site: thus, the radiological risk associated to its presence must be minimized, both for the population and the environment. Tritium is one of the main sources of radiological hazard in ARC and it is almost ubiquitous: it is found in the vacuum chamber, in the blanket, in structural materials and in tritium processing and storing components. In this work, a safety analysis is proposed to quantify the radioactivity release following an accidental scenario. Tritium inventories in the main components are estimated starting from the preliminary design of the FLiBe circuit. The source term is quantified assuming the occurrence of a severe accident damaging key components. Afterward, the environmental impact and the doses to the most exposed individuals are evaluated through suitable population doses codes, and ARC compliance with safety limits is assessed
