    Corporate Governance und M&A Erfolg

    No full text

Inventory of programs aimed at attracting High-Skilled migration to the EU

    No full text
This report concentrates on four TEMPER country destinations (Italy, France, Spain and the UK) to explore the policies fostering the migration of high skilled immigrants (HSM). The report succinctly reviews the literature on the benefits of HSM and the policy innovations existing internationally. The country analysis is qualitative and does not refer to demographic dynamics. It shows that while HSM policies are largely developed and sophisticated in the UK than in France and, specially, in Spain and Italy, there is some space for convergence across countries. Despite its evident benefits, HSM policies are not a-cyclical and have suffered a number of adjustments during the economic downturn. The general approach to defining skills based on education has been overcome in all three countries. Only the UK and France have taken a decisive step forward in developing supply driven policy schemes, while Spain and Italy remains strictly attach to an underdeveloped demand driven model.TEMPER projectPeer reviewe

High Strain Rate Behaviour of AA7075 Aluminum Alloy at Different Initial Temper States

    No full text
The aim of this work is to study the mechanical properties of alloy AA7075 in both T6 and O temper states, in terms of visco-plastic and fracture behavior. Tension and compression tests were carried out starting from the quasi-static loading condition 10-3 up to strain rates as high as 2 x 103 s-1. The high strain rate tests were performed using a Split Hopkinson Tension-Compression Bar (SHTCB) apparatus. The tensile specimens were also subjected to micro-fractography analysis by Scanning Electronic Microscope (SEM) to evaluate the characteristics of the fracture. The results show a different behavior for the two temper states: AA7075-O showed a significant sensitivity to strain rate, with a ductile behavior and a fracture morphology characterized by coalescence of microvoids, whilst AA7075-T6 is generally characterized by a less ductile behaviour, both as elongation at break and as fracture morphology. Brittle cleavage is accentuated with increasing strain rate. The Johnson-Cook viscoplastic model wad also used to fit the experimental data with an optimum matching

Prediction of rolling force during temper rolling

    No full text
In temper rolling thickness reduction is small (0,5 – 2%) and the elastic deformation of the work roll should be taken into account. During finishing rolling, classical cold rolling theories fail to predict the roll flattening and thus the rolling force. Numerous different mathematical models have been developed for temper rolling process. However, often the non-circular theories are computationally expensive and the range of usability is questionable. In this study, elasto- plastic finite element analysis, laboratory rolling tests and inverse computing from skin pass mill process data has been carried out. The aim is to find the roll shape, contact length and the rolling force to create a simplified model for controlling of temper rolling. In addition, the ability of different skin pass rolling theories has been compared with measured process values. </p

Petrography and provenance of sand temper within ceramic sherds from Carriacou, Southern Grenadines, West Indies

    No full text
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 38-45)Carriacou, the largest of the Grenadine Islands, contains abundant ceramic bearing archaeological sites. A total of 73 sherds collected fromlO of these sites was petrographically analyzed in this study to determine their provenance, along with sherds from Petite Martinique (n = 5). Additional geological material, beach sands (n = 30) and outcrop rock samples (n =28) was collected from Carriacou, Petite Martinique, Grenada, and Barbados for comparison. Thin sections inade from the sherd, and geological samples (n = 138) were stained for calcium and potassium feldspar recognition. Selected representative samples (sherds n = 36, sands n = 9, and rocks n = 2) were point-counted using the Gazzi-Dickinson method with maximum counts of 300 grains (temper/sand) per thin section. Matrix, porosity, and cement categories were tallied separately. The percentage of temper in the sherd samples ranges from 16-41 %. Petrographic analysis of the sherd samples reveals at least four temper groups: Igneous (n = 69), Placer (n = 3), Potassic Volcanic (n = 5), and Quartzose (n = 1) based upon composition and texture. Group 1 (Igneous) temper shows a continuum from more feldspathic-rich (QFL%Q = ~80%) to more volcanic lithic-rich (QFL%Q = ~40%) end members. Major components include plagioclase, opaque minerals, pyroxene, and volcanic lithic fragments exhibiting microlitic and lathwork textures. Group 2 (Placer) temper contains many of the same mineralogical components as Group 1 with a much more significant proportion of dense minerals (total grain % dense minerals = ?50%) such as pyroxene, amphibole, and opaque minerals. Group 3 (Potassic Volcanic) temper contains significant proportions of potassium feldspar and potassium-rich volcanic lithic fragments (QmKP%K = ?37%). Minor components include plagioclase and opaque minerals. Group 4 (Quartzose) temper contains dominant monocrystalline quartz (QFL%Q = 88%; QmKP%Qm = 90%) and metamorphic lithic fragments (LmLvLs%Lm = 80%). Minor components include polycrystalline quartz, feldspar, and dense minerals. [More in document
