Wine and globalisation: foreword
Over the past few months, the debate surrounding the films Mondovino and Sideways has helped to illustrate the tensions related to the globalisation of the wine industry and the so-called rivalry between the New World and Old Europe, between brand names and terroir, modernity and tradition, as many concepts masking the complexity of the process. The term “globalization”, widely used in the media, needs to be treated cautiously. In common parlance, the term designates various phenomena such as..

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Des mangeurs, des producteurs : dynamiques des Terroirs
In Aquitaine today prosper all kinds of events promoting regional food products, whether food fairs or gastronomic salons, where “produits de terroir” are celebrated. This touristic area, characterised by an important and varied agro production, is particularly famous for its food although it has not always been the case. The ethnologist examines the processes which give existence to such products and how they are used by diverse protagonists.
This paper was presented during the International Conference Wine, Vineyards and Civilisations held in Bordeaux in 2005. It is the result of an ethnographic study performed as a complement within the context of a wide-scale public health survey, the object of which was to examine a possible correlation between a moderate consumption of wine and better cerebral ageing. The following text, based on interviews with 70 senior people living in the Bordeaux area, aims at relating actual wine consumptions and representations to the daily life organisation of these people.

Local food between nature and culture: from neighbour farm to terroir. Interview of Laurence Bérard
V.A.: Laurence Bérard, you stand for one half of the famous Bérard and Marchenay duo whose works on terroir products in France simply cannot be ignored ; this is the reason why you accepted this interview for our AOF issue on local food products. I’ll just start with the plain question: when I say local products, what do you think of? L.B.: you’re not saying terroir products, for a change… I.T: That’s the point, is there a difference between the French expression terroir products and local p..
