Book review and author interview: island story: journeys around unfamiliar Britain by J.D. Taylor
What is life really like for those who inhabit the island we call the UK? Island Story: Journeys Around Unfamiliar Britain presents J.D. Taylor‘s attempt to find out. Accompanied by a tent and travelling on a rusty bike, Taylor travelled around Britain, meeting strangers and talking to people in his attempt to capture a sense of modern-day Britain at a time of ostensible malaise, cynicism and alienation. Stephen Lee Naish praises this poetic mixture of travelogue, class polemic, fable and myth for drawing out the UK’s complexities and contradictions, and speaks to Taylor about the impetus behind his illuminating ‘journey around unfamiliar Britain’
Ferrocina Glover & Taylor 2007, n. gen.
Genus Ferrocina n. gen. TYPE SPECIES. — Ferrocina multiradiata n. sp. (here designated). ETYMOLOGY. — Latin ferrum, iron, a reference to the rusty brown coloration. DIAGNOSIS. — Shell small, thin, subovate, posteriorly truncate, sculpture of numerous fine radial ribs crossed by fine commarginal threads. Hinge plate thin, single small cardinal tooth in right valve, two in left valve, lateral teeth small to obsolete. Anterior adductor scar detached from pallial line for 1/3 of length. Inner shell margin crenulate. Colour usually rusty red-brown. REMARKS In general shape with the truncated posterior margin and the sculpture of fine radial ribs Ferrocina n. gen. has superficial resemblance to species of Cardiidae. Amongst Lucinidae, Parvilucina and Liralucina n. gen. species often have fine radial ribs but differ from Ferrocina n. gen. in having much more prominent hinge teeth and a very short anterior adductor scar only slightly detached from the pallial line.Published as part of Glover, Emily A. & Taylor, John D., 2007, Diversity of chemosymbiotic bivalves on coral reefs: Lucinidae (Mollusca, Bivalvia) of New Caledonia and Lifou, pp. 109-181 in Zoosystema 29 (1) on page 152, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.539229

This projet proposes to recognize the contribution of Miguel Barbosa to the literary and artistic portuguese scene, particularly in the context of the portuguese police literature, a peculiar universe and deserving of this claim.
To that end, in addition to addressing the novel as an artistic form of the contemporary era, we drow the route traveled by the detective story, with a brief incursion by Portuguese police novel. Rusty Brown and Toulouse Lautrec Nose, of Miguel Barbosa, under the pseudonym of Rusty Brown, is part of a series of police of the author novels, serving as a pretext to study the contemporary Portuguese police literature and, on the other, to confirm the multifaceted personality that characterizes the author and the originality of his police narrative of multiple inspiration

Effect of feeding frequency on growth performance, reproduction efficiency and skin coloration of rusty cichlids (Iodotropheus sprengerae)
In the present study, the effects of five different feeding frequencies including every other day (2F1), one (F1), two (F2), three (F3), and four (F4) times daily on growth, reproduction, the coloration of rusty cichlid (mean body weight 2.04 ± 0.01 g and mean total length 4.35 ± 0.01 cm) were investigated. The trial was carried out in 15 100-L fiberglass circular tanks conducted to 4000-L freshwater recirculating system with three replicates for 16 weeks. Fish were stocked in each tank at a density of 10 individual with sex ratio 1:4 (male:female) and they were fed with a commercial ornamental cichlid diet to near satiation. At the end of the trial, final mean weight (FMW) and specific growth rate (SGR) increased with increasing feeding frequency (P <.05). The highest final mean total length (FMTL) was found in F3 group with 9.07 cm (P <.05). Although the average seed production (ASP) of F3 (mean of 98 ± 8.89) and F4 (mean of 93 ± 4.04) were significantly similar, the highest fecundity was observed in F4 group. For the coloration parameters, the final redness (a*) of F4 group was the highest (P <.05). The cost-effective groups of the present experiment were F3 and F4 groups. In conclusion, three times daily feeding is recommended the best application for profitable commercial cultures of rusty cichlid due to decreasing labor. © 2019, © 2019 Taylor & Francis.Ege ÜniversitesiThe present study is a part of doctorate thesis of Onur Karadal prepared in Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Ege University, ?zmir, Turkey. Versatile Object-oriented Real-Time Operating System
Thesis (M.Eng. and S.B.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, 2001.Includes bibliographical references (p. 79-80).This electronic version was submitted by the student author. The certified thesis is available in the Institute Archives and Special Collections. As computer software has become more complex in response to increasing demands and greater levels of abstraction, so have computer operating systems. In order to achieve the desired level of functionality, operating systems have become less flexible and overly complex. The additional complexity and abstraction introduced often leads to less efficient use of hardware and increased hardware requirements. In embedded systems with limited hardware resources, efficient resource use is extremely important to the functionality of the resources. Therefore, operating system functionality not useful for the embedded system's applications is detrimental to the system. Component-based software provides a way to achieve both the efficient application-specific functionality required in embedded systems and the ability to extend this functionality to other applications. This thesis presents a component-based operating system, VORTOS, the Versatile Object-oriented Real-Time Operating System. VORTOS uses a virtual machine to abstract the hardware, eliminating the need for further portability abstractions within the operating system and application level components. The simple modular component architecture allows both the operating system and user applications to be extremely flexible by allowing them to utilize the particular components required, without sacrificing performance.by Rusty Lee.M.Eng.and S.B
