GERAKAN KEAGAMAAN BARU DALAM INDONESIA KONTEMPORER: Tafsir Sosial Atas Hizbut Tahrir
New various religious movements in Islam have emerged in several Muslim countries, including in Indonesia. Many consider them to be a blatant manifestation of radicalism and fundamentalism of Islam although their proponents reject such a label. One of the rising movements in Indonesia is Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI). Fundamentalism is a common and widespread religious phenomenon since it is found trans-nationally. HTI represents the form of trans-national Islamic movement. This article seeks to examine HTI as a new rising trans-Islamic movement in contemporary Indonesia. By focusing on the HTI’s religious outlooks, ideology and social movement, this article argues that HTI is representation of fundamentalist movement. Fundamentalism here is defined as a form of religious movement that attempts to preserve fundamental tenets laid down in the Scripture, and reinterprets them in contemporary socio-political realms. The feature of fundamentalism in HTI is expressed in its religious thoughts and understanding and in the ways in which it re-appropriates Islamic doctrines in modern and contemporary socio-political contexts. Keywords: Hizbut Tahrir, fundamentalism, religious movements</p
Quantitative data: A case of an oil and gas company under a sustainable change
A quantitative dataset collected from an established oil and gas company in Europe. Survey-based research was developed based on institutional theory and carried out among the company’s employees. Our survey helps understand the process of legitimating new sustainable technologies (renewable energy) in an established oil and gas company. The data was used in two articles. The first article introduces and validates a measure of a company’s institutional profile for sustainability, develops a model, tests the model fit and validates the measures. The second article develops a model that focuses on the drivers, barriers and strategy selection criteria that lead the company to invest in a technology that is outside its core business
What Brings them There? Reflections on the Persisting Symbolism of Tahrir Square
Cairo’s Tahrir Square presents a riddle. This irregular expanse of land and surrounding building surfaces has acquired a central symbolic place in Egyptians’ collective memory, demonstrated by its recurrent use for decades as the primary site for voicing people’s grievances and proclamations. To its romantics and its detractors, what happens in or around Tahrir Square remains crucial as an index to some perceived collectivity. Despite being a twentieth-century addition to a city with a much longer history, and despite the presence of older squares with central locations and considerable sizes (including Maydan Ramsis and Maydan Abdin), Maydan al-Tahrir now sits uncontested atop a hierarchy of symbolic urban spaces in Cairo and other Egyptian cities. How did Tahrir Square acquire such symbolic status? When protesters repeatedly took their grievances to Tahrir Square since January 2011, and in previous waves of street actions over decades, none declared going to confront a specific institution or associate with a particular building in the square. What then did they imagine occupying when there

'The People Want The Regime Brought Down': Popular Geopolitics and The 2011 Egyptian Revolution
This thesis uses popular geopolitics in order to examine the eighteen days of the 2011 Egyptian revolution. Popular outlets such as novels, films and cartoons have been identified by geopolitical scholars as legitimate sources through which to analyse political issues and define geopolitical identities. (ó’Tuathail & Dalby, 1998; Dodds, 2008; Sharp, 2000; Dittmer, 2007). In the case of Egypt, these sources carry particular importance, as past research indicates the power that Egyptian popular entertainment has on the formation of Egyptian national identity (Fahmy, 2011). Within the 2011 Egyptian revolution, popular culture sources largely contributed to the success of the revolution (El Zein & Ortiz, 2011; Macfarland, 2011).
This work uses examples of popular literature from the 2011 Egyptian revolution to explore not just the expressed emotions, articulated identities, agency and experience of the Egyptian population living it. The texts of Khaled Al Khamissi’s Taxi, Tarek Shanin’s Al-Khan, Nariman Youssef’s diary of her experiences in the square and examples of the protesters’ signs and poetry are examined through a detailed discourse analysis. The thesis begins with an introduction to how the four texts and popular cultural discourses shape and challenge the geographical imagination of Egypt prior to 2011. It shows how the texts construct the geopolitical identity of the Egyptian protester in Tahrir Square, and how the Egyptian protester also utilised the popular literature to construct their own identity. With reference to the different spaces of the revolution acknowledged in the texts, it contributes to the space and geography of the revolution. Reading these texts reveals the extent of the Egyptian protesters’ grievances and their experience throughout the event. It provides a space for their voice and agency. This thesis argues the importance of focusing on popular geopolitics more regularly in analyses of major political events
The translational network of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia
This paper explores the regional network of the Indonesian chapter of Hizbut Tahrir (HT), a transnational Islamic group aiming to revive the Islamic Caliphate. Focusing on the chapter of HT in Indonesia, the paper highlights how Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) supports the activities of other HT chapters in the region and beyond. The key argument of the paper is that an understanding of HTI's transnational activism brings new insights to the current understanding of HT as a transnational movement. The author seeks to show the linkages between HTI and other HT chapters around the world and to analyse the implications of HTI's transnational activism

Tahrir is here !
