The thesis discusses the Japanese sub-culture called visual kei and its confluence with the 19th century European art trend called decadence. At first, visual kei and decadence are defined and the author’s relationship to visual kei is discussed. Decadence and its relationship to orientalism is also addressed. After that the thesis introduces the joint themes of visual kei and decadence: violence, dreams, gender and disease. In the end a few words are said on the political nature of them.
Both visual kei and decadence exemplify gloominess and will to escape the so called normal. They both see decay inevitable and want to turn it into something beautiful.
The purpose of the thesis is to determine the themes of visual kei as they apply to the author and his art. Although visual kei is inspiring, it has many aspects to be criticised. The author’s viewpoint to visual kei themes varies from that of the visual kei artist

Lastly, the paper investigates the impact of online sexual information on Japanese young people's behaviors and values in comparison with that of other countries in an attempt to provide the basis for accurate measures. Whangai: remembering, understanding and experiencing
The Māori customary practice of whangai is often equated with adoption or foster care.
There are, however, significant differences between the institutions. Adoption or foster care, tends to be mainly focused on the interests of the child. The institution of whangai, while being cognizant of the interests of the child, is weighted more towards establishing, nurturing and cementing relationships between individuals, families and broader relational networks. In this paper we draw on the lived experiences of six people who have been raised as whangai and/or have raised whangai. We were interested in their understanding of the cultural concept of whangai, how the customary practice of whangai has changed over time, and their projected thoughts on future generations’ experience of whangai. Findings suggest that the institution of whangai remains as a strong vehicle for both the care of children and for the nurturing of whangai kinship relationships. While participants recognised that contemporary Māori social environments have contributed toward multiple manifestations of whangai, most felt it to be an institution that will be valued and carried into the future

Kei Hiruta: Hannah Arendt and Isaiah Berlin: Freedom, Politics and Humanity, Princeton University Press 2021. : Hannah Arendt and Isaiah Berlin: Freedom, Politics and Humanity, by Kei Hiruta.
The first thing to notice about Kei Hiruta’s monograph is that it is not a partisan book. The second is that it is one of those works that, while including the historical itinerary, also covers the philosophical debate that runs through it. Kei Hiruta’s research is thus, located at the intersection of political philosophy and intellectual history. The present monograph is the outcome of his project entitled “Berlin’s Bête Noire: Hannah Arendt and Isaiah Berlin on Freedom, Politics, and Humanity” which chronicles the intellectual, political, and personal conflict between Arendt and Berlin. Hiruta has also edited the book Arendt on Freedom, Liberation, and Revolution (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019). Here, the author delves into the idea of freedom and totalitarianism as points of disagreement and agreement between two giants of twentieth-century thought. He thus elaborates a concise and essential document of political theory. The first thing to notice about Kei Hiruta’s monograph is that it is not a partisan book. Johnnie To Kei-Fung\u27s Where a Good Man Goes
REVERTING TOSOCIAL ORDER BY CONTAINMENT: JOHNNIE TO KEI-FUNG\u27S WHERE A GOOD MAN GOES The 1999 Hong Kong International Film Festival hailed the Hong Kong director Johnnie To Kei-Fung as a Director in Focus, featuring eleven of his films. The opening film of the Festival was his world premiere, Where a Good Man Goes, casting Lau Ching-wan and Ruby Wong, telling a story of the return of a prodigal son. The film, in short, evolves around a central theme "home". The author of this article suggests that this "home" is of the concept of a traditional home held by the Chinese, from ancient days to the present, and is also patriarchal. The film\u27s story also tells of the "grand narratives" governing the order of the Chinese society since the early ages, which incidentally coincide with the Western view, that no evil can escape judgment and if a prodigal son returns,..
Aesthetics of the beautiful: Ideologic tensions in contemporary assessment
Pedagogy is an uncertain art. Yet by its very nature, contemporary teaching and learning practice typically suggests that the expert teacher must come to know their student well enough to plan and predict for educational challenges that will expand and extend their thinking. In many countries, this process is underpinned by bureaucratic ideology that has persuasively developed an agenda for assessment as accountability for pedagogy. As a result assessment practice in these educational institutions is very public, highly accountable and heavily prescribed through curriculum documents that claim to encompass societal agendas. In some cases, such practices are even legislated. Assessment practice is now seen as integral to the pedagogical process since it is through assessment that the teacher purportedly comes to understand the learner; thus providing a rationale for the teaching approaches and strategies that are applied in order to progress learning. In this chronotopic location I suggest there is little room for uncertainty, since the quest to capture the "essence" of the learner and mould them towards societal goals is as much a political agenda of accountability as it is pedagogical
