Applications of inorganic nanoparticles as therapeutic agents
During the last decade, various functional nanostructured materials with interesting optical, magnetic, mechanical and chemical properties have been extensively applied to biomedical areas including imaging, diagnosis and therapy. In therapeutics, most research has focused on the application of nanoparticles as potential delivery vehicles for drugs and genes, because nanoparticles in the size range of 2-100 nm can interact with biological systems at the molecular level, and allow targeted delivery and passage through biological barriers. Recent investigations have even revealed that several kinds of nanomaterials are intrinsically therapeutic. Not only can they passively interact with cells, but they can also actively mediate molecular processes to regulate cell functions. This can be seen in the treatment of cancer via anti-angiogenic mechanisms as well as the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases by effectively controlling oxidative stress. This review will present recent applications of inorganic nanoparticles as therapeutic agents in the treatment of disease. © 2014 IOP Publishing Ltd.149641sciescopu

In Vivo Micro-CT Imaging of Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells Labeled with Gold-Poly-l-Lysine Nanocomplexes
Developing in vivo cell tracking is an important prerequisite for further development of cell-based therapy. So far, few computed tomography (CT) cell tracking studies have been described due to its notoriously low sensitivity and lack of efficient labeling protocols. A simple method is presented to render human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) sufficiently radiopaque by complexing 40 nm citrate-stabilized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with poly-l-lysine (PLL) and rhodamine B isothiocyanate (RITC). AuNP-PLL-RITC labeling does not affect cellular viability, proliferation, or downstream cell differentiation into adipocytes and osteocytes. Labeled hMSCs can be clearly visualized in vitro and in vivo with a micro-CT scanner, with a detection limit of approximate to 2 x 10(4) cells per mu L in vivo. Calculated Hounsfield unit values are 2.27 per pg of intracellular Au, as measured with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrophotometry, and are linear over a wide range of cell concentrations. This linear CT attenuation is observed for both naked AuNPs and those that were taken up by hMSCs, indicating that the number of labeled cells can be quantified similar to the use of radioactive or fluorine tracers. This approach for CT cell tracking may find applications in CT image-guided interventions and fluoroscopic procedures commonly used for the injection of cellular therapeutics. © 2016 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. 김태호의 《Decalcomanie》, 《분열》, 《Requiem for Shadow》, 《Beyond Images》를 중심으로
This study provides an overview of the works of the author himself, Taeho Kim, focusing on his compositional techniques, and by that aims to illuminate the characteristics of his musical language resulting from the usage of musical materials. Defined are the musical intentions, the character of the main materials, and the features of the harmony and timbre of the following pieces: 《Decalcomanie》 and 《Division》, both mainly utilizing pitch materials, and 《Requiem for Shadow》 and 《Beyond Images》, both mainly utilizing timbral materials.
In 《Decalcomanie》, the pitch motives that constitute the six fragments, which are the interval structure utilized thematically, function as the central material of the piece. 《Division》 applies certain interval materials to the interval structure, horizontal and vertical, of the piece in general; they emerge from the melodies constructed from the motivization of poetic words, and utilization of motives in the instrumental parts. In 《Requiem for Shadow》, which adopts timbral transfiguration as its main material, the expansion of the compositional intervals of the chords secures the structural logic of the utilization of harmonic materials by providing harmonic relation between sections each with the timbral features that differ according to the section they belong. In 《Beyond Images》, comprised chiefly of expression of diverse melodic lines, various timbral effects portray the timbal embellishments of melodies and their atmospheres.국문초록

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Mesoporous silica-coated luminescent Eu3+ doped GdVO4 nanoparticles for multimodal imaging and drug delivery
We describe a simple method for synthesizing mesoporous silica-coated luminescent europium-doped
gadolinium vanadate (GdVO4:Eu3+@mSiO2) nanoparticles. Their biomedical applications as a potential
imaging nanoprobe for both fluorescence imaging and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and as a
simultaneous anti-cancer drug delivery vehicle are also discussed. Eu3+ doped GdVO4 nanoparticles
exhibit strong red photoluminescence and the Gd3+ in GdVO4 can be used as a T1 contrast agent for
MRI. T1-weighted MR contrast enhancement as well as sustained intracellular drug delivery can be
achieved by the mesoporous silica layer coating onto a single nanoparticle. Enhanced T1 MR contrast was proven by relaxometric studies on water access to the paramagnetic core. GdVO4:Eu3+@mSiO2
nanoparticles as a new type of theragnostic (imaging and treatment) agent can provide new
opportunities in a cancer treatment.141511Nsciescopu
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
