La popolazione della Liguria occidentale tra Repubblica ligure e Impero francese: i dati delle fonti governative
The authorities of the Ligurian Republic and, following 1805, those of the French Empire, maintained consistent interest in demographic statistics. With the cooperation of parish priests and mayors, various estimates of the Ligurian population were compiled. Despite inherent inaccuracies and other limitations, these estimates still offer insights into the demographic landscape of Liguria during that period and its subsequent evolution. This article focuses on the demographic data pertaining to Western Liguria, primarily sourced from documents held at the State Archives of Genoa and Savona. These records facilitate an analysis of the demographic and administrative changes that transpired in the region from the late 18th to the early 19th centuries

An exact line integral representation of the physical optics field scattered from a penetrable planar structure illuminated by a plane wave
The purpose of this letter is to present an exact line integral representation of the PO field scattered from a penetrable planar structure illuminated by a plane wale. The formulation is valid for an arbitrary position of the observation point. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the procedure, an estimation of the decrease in computation time with respect to the traditional surface integration is reported as a function of the dimensions of the dielectric plate. Heuristic diffraction coefficient for plane-wave scattering from edges in periodic planar surfaces
Radiation of a vertical electric dipole over a resistive sheet
The radiation of a vertical electric dipole over a thin dielectric slab is analysed. The problem can be decomposed into two simpler ones involving the radiation of the same dipole, first over a perfectly conducting plane, which has a trivial solution, and then over an impedance plane, for which the Green's function can be directly obtained from the corresponding scalar problem. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the solution for real structures of finite extension, the results are compared with those obtained by resorting to a moment method solution and to a physical optics technique. The proposed Green's function can be used to analyse the radiation of wire antennas in the presence of planar resistive structures
PO near-field expression of a penetrable planar structure in terms of a line integral
An exact line-integral representation of the physical optics (PO) field scattered in near zone by a penetrable planar structure illuminated by a plane wave is discussed
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
