Objective: To describe a case of successful triplet pregnancy after testicular sperm extraction (TESE) from a man with AZFc deletion and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Design: Case report. Setting: University hospital. Patient(s): A 38-year-old man affected by complete AZFc deletion and azoospermia. Intervention(s): Spermiogram, Y-chromosome microdeletion screening, TESE for sperm recovery from testicular tissue on the same day as ICSI, transfer of frozen-thawed embryos, vaginal ultrasound examination. Main Outcome Measure(s): The Y chromosome genetic status of an azoospermic patient who underwent TESE and ICSI, the fertilization and pregnancy outcome. Result(s): The patient was found to be azoospermic, and the deletion screening showed complete AZFc deletion. After TESE, the recovered testicular sperm were selected for ICSI. Three good quality embryos were obtained and were frozen due to ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome in the female partner. After transfer of the thawed embryos, a triplet pregnancy was diagnosed by vaginal ultrasonography at the seventh week of gestation. Two male and one female healthy babies were born. Conclusion(s): This is the first report of a successful triplet pregnancy after the transfer of frozen-thawed embryos in a couple in whom the male partner was azoospermic and a carrier of complete AZFc deletion. This deletion should not adversely affect a man's TESE retrieval prognosis or the fertilization, cleavage, and implantation of embryos. The offspring were healthy, although the two sons inherited the AZFc deletion. Copyright © 2010 American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Published by Elsevier Inc

Objective: To evaluate the performance of real time elastosonography (RTE) in the iden- tification of different types of penile lesions in patients with Peyronie’s disease. Materials and methods: Seventy four consecutive patients with complaints of Peyronie’s disease underwent B-Mode ultrasonography (US) and RTE of the penis in the same sit- ting. In each patient all sequences of elastosonography and B-Mode US were recorded and compared to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the new imaging technique. Results: B-Mode US detected penile plaques in 64 patients (86.41%) and elastosonography con- firmed these data. In the remaining 10 patients elastosonography documented, in five of them, areas of reducing elasticity suggesting the presence of initial fibrosis. Cohen’s K was used to eval- uate the discordances between B-Mode US and Elastosonography scan. A p value 30°, and the penile plaque evalua- tions were completely concordant. Conclusions: RTE is a simple, non invasive, rapid complementary imaging technique that may improve the accuracy of B-Mode US in detecting penile lesions in patients with Peyronie’s disease

Valeria Della Valle, The language of Luigi Einaudi between classicism and pathos, in Luigi Einaudi: economic freedom and social cohesion, by Alfredo Gigliobianco, Rome-Bari, 2010, p. 138-154. The author makes a linguistic reading of texts by Luigi Einaudi, to identify the lexical, stylistic and rhetorical characters of the writings of the economist, the popularizer, the journalist, the President of the Italian Republic. On them has long weighed the label of a crisp, neat, icy writer. In fact, subjecting its vast production on close examination, it reveals the extraordinary ability in the use of various language modes: solemnity, friendly conversational syntactic, lexical inventions and popular modes, descriptions with bright colors and extreme simplicity

White middle-class men in Rio de Janeiro. The making of a dominant subject

Based on the biographical accounts of upper-middle-class white men living in wealthy parts of Rio di Janeiro, Valeria Ribeiro Corossacz analyzes specific experiences of whiteness as they are produced at the intersection of multiple categories, in particular gender, class, and sexuality. White middle class men in Rio de Janeiro investigates what it means to be classified as a white person and a man in a society known for its valorization of racial mixing and yet deeply structured by racism, class and gender inequalities. Ribeiro Corossacz focuses on certain experiences in the men’s biographical trajectories representing moments of apprenticeship in a specific model of white, heterosexual and heteronormative middle-class masculinity and describes how these experiences are constructed as normative. This book explores how class, gender and race privilege are mutually produced and perceived by these men as “normal”. Examining instances of silence and what is left unsaid but also these men’s ability to provide precise descriptions of power relations and violent episodes, the author encourages us to observe the condition of dominant subjects as a keystone of the reproduction social discrimination

In recent years, due to the rise of cultural productions through different media, an increase in the number of journalistic publications of hybrid texts has been observed, which results from the fusion of the narrative and informative functions. The spaces traditionally devoted to different types of journalistic texts which – apart from those merely informative, may include cultural-related and opinion articles – make possible the appearance of articles which distinguish themselves trough entailing both characteristics. Therefore, this paper analyses two articles written by J. Carrion and published in the Spanish edition of The New York Times in 2018. The articles will be scrutinised in relation to the narrative and essayistic works of the author. We illustrate some characteristics of what is generally referred to as narrative journalism, as defined by Herrscher (2012) and Casals Carro (2005), among others. This will allow us to trace a profile of the author, journalist and writer which is linked to the social environment and of his work

n the present paper the author presents the main representations of language education and disability of Bangladeshi migrant families living in Venice. Moreover, the author presents how those representations could create problems in intercultural communication between migrant families and social operators. Data were collected during two focus groups realized together with the support of social workers of the Municipality of Venice during a research that started in October 2018 and ended in March 2020. Among the main findings, it is clear that families do not know which language use in the language education of their children. It is also necessary to employ intercultural and interlinguistic mediators in order to facilitate the communication between social-workers and migrant families. It is also necessary to take into consideration new different social educational and healthcare services in order to face the needs of families who live in a situation of marginalization and vulnerability, especially in families with children with disability

Between the end of dictatorship (1974) and the entry into the EEC (1986), Portugal starts a process of rethinking of its own past which, from a literary point of view, corresponds to a renewed attention to the author-narrator-character relationship. Among the examples of metanarrative characters not yet considered by critics, the intervention will focus on O que diz Molero by Dinis Machado (1977) and Walt, or frio and o quente by Fernando Assis Pacheco (1978)
