This research focuses on sociability in the public space of Avenida Getúlio Vargas in the municipality of Chapecó. It is a result of ethnographic research in the street that had the focus of analysis practices that define, fragment and create posts in the public space chapecoense. Are presented different social contexts, different scenarios that harbor from the tour - as a form of customary use of public space that appears in central part of the avenue - the ballads in the street - established practices of young people who gather in certain spaces, create scenarios and points of meeting. These places are made of specific dynamics of social, analyzed in this work, around the relations of the "see and be seen". The different urban sociability identified on Avenida Getúlio Vargas emphasized the importance of this as an icon of public space in the city of Chapecó and the surrounding physical and symbolic of different sociability. Of the scenarios examined, the prolonga appears as paradoxical space, surrounded both by connotations of transgressive and permissiveness. Ambiguous relationships that are organized in terms of coexistence, of simultaneity and complementarity, consider allowing the public space in terms of permanence and discontinuities
This dissertation investigates events related to Brazil#s 500 years celebrations, which happened in 2000: Porto Seguro party, Brazil Rediscovery Exhibition and one of its modules, #Black in body and Soul# Exposition. The analysis involves the interface among art, politics and power, specifically articulated in the celebration context. It is based on narrative re-construction, considering the inclusion and exclusion of several discursive genres (visual, textual and sonorous), about the acting and interaction between different instances in the events: State, Press, Intellectuals and Public

Maestro en Artes PlásticasPregradoThis degree project, entitled "Metáforas del Dónde", was carried out by María Camila Vejarano Fuentes for the Fine Arts program at Universidad El Bosque in Bogotá, Colombia, in 2024. The work explores the concept of belonging and place through an unconventional curatorial practice, questioning traditional notions of artistic exhibition. The author collaborates with four artists to investigate the question "Where do you belong?", using "non-dialogues" as a method of reflection. The project takes place in "Visaje Grafiti", a graffiti gallery in Bogota, where the traditional presentation is inverted to give more emphasis to the creative process than to the final works. Drawing on theoretical concepts of Marc Augé and others, the text examines ideas of place, non-place, identity and otherness, reflecting on the condition of "outsider" and migration in the Colombian context. Ultimately, the project proposes a vision of art as a form of ethnographic exploration and seeks to generate new perspectives on belonging and identity in the artistic and social realm.

Background:The prevalence of cognitive impairment is insufficiently determined in developing countries. The aim of this study was to ascertain the prevalence of cognitive impairment without dementia and dementia in community-dwelling elderly in Brazil. Methods:This was a single-phase cross-sectional survey of the elderly (aged 60 years and above) living in the municipality of Tremembe, Brazil. Twenty percent of the households with elderly persons were randomly selected from urban and rural areas, to obtain a homogenous representation of all socioeconomic and cultural levels. Results:We assessed 630 individuals [mean age, 71.3 y (7.99); mean years of education, 4.9 (+/- 4.54)] and found prevalence rates of 17.5% (95% confidence interval, 14.6-20.6) for dementia and 19.5% (95% confidence interval, 16.6-22.8) for cognitive impairment without dementia. These prevalence rates were influenced by age (P<0.001) and by educational level (P<0.001). There was no significant sex difference among diagnostic groups (P=0.166). The prevalence of dementia was higher in relatively younger individuals (below 70 y) when compared with other studies. Besides, dementia was associated with low socioeconomic status, stroke, previous psychiatric disorder, alcoholism, and epilepsy. Conclusions:The prevalence of dementia in this study was higher than in other studies, particularly among younger elderly.[Cesar, Karolina G.; Brucki, Sonia M. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the primary structure and investigate peptides obtained from the cutaneous secretions of the amphibian, Leptodactylus vastus, as a source of bioactive molecules. The peptides obtained possessed the amino acid sequences, GVVDILKGAAKDLAGH and GVVDILKGAAKDLAGHLASKV, with monoisotopic masses of [M + H]± = 1563.8 Da and [M + H]± = 2062.4 Da, respectively. The molecules were characterized as peptides of the class of ocellatins and were named as Ocellatin-K1(1-16) and Ocellatin-K1(1-21). Functional analysis revealed that Ocellatin-K1(1-16) and Ocellatin-K1(1-21) showed weak antibacterial activity. However, treatment of mice with these ocellatins reduced the nitrite and malondialdehyde content. Moreover, superoxide dismutase enzymatic activity and glutathione concentration were increased in the hippocampus of mice. In addition, Ocellatin-K1(1-16) and Ocellatin-K1(1-21) were effective in impairing lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation and NF-kB activation in living microglia. We incubated hippocampal neurons with microglial conditioned media treated with LPS and LPS in the presence of Ocellatin-K1(1-16) and Ocellatin-K1(1-21) and observed that both peptides reduced the oxidative stress in hippocampal neurons. Furthermore, these ocellatins demonstrated low cytotoxicity towards erythrocytes. These functional properties suggest possible to neuromodulatory therapeutic applications.Alexandra Plácido is a recipient of a post-doctoral grant from the project FCT (PTDC/BII-BIO/31158/2017). Recobrimento radicular: enxerto autógeno ou alógeno? Revisão de literatura e casos clínicos comparativos
TCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Centro de Ciências da Saúde. Odontologia. Gingival recession is a common feature both among populations with poor oral hygiene, as well as the high standard of oral hygiene. Traumatic tooth brushing is one of the most prevalent etiologic factors. Such changes are handled primarily for aesthetics and hypersensitivity. Options as root coverage, for example, using ETCS (autogenous) or MDA (allogeneic - Alloderm®) techniques are constantly studied. Based on this, the present study has the main objective to discuss possible differences between the results obtained through the techniques of graft (autogenous x allogeneic) for root coverage, from a literature review and presentation of comparative clinical cases. To begin to review the descriptors of Health Science (DECS) to be used in the search strategy in online databases (Medline, PubMed) were defined. Some criteria were defined to refine the search results, as well as a manual search by author or references considered classic literature. To meet the overall objective of this study were used for comparison purpose, clinical cases from the literature and a case study conducted at UFSC. The results of root coverage achieved in this case were: 86.4% of coverage in areas where ETCS were used and 49.8% with MDA, the latter contrasting with the findings in the literature. Thus, it was concluded that the technique using autogenous graft has high predictability when compared with the allograft, but the clinical and cosmetic results are satisfactory in both techniques, presenting, and root coverage, an increase (in height and thickness) of keratinized mucosa that provides stability to the progression of recessions and the possibility of a second plastic periodontal surgery to achieve root coverage

Transcriptomic Analysis of Fludioxonil Resistance Mechanisms in Botrytis cinerea
Botrytis cinerea is a destructive plant pathogen that infects a wide range of economically important crops. Limiting pathogen infection during production and after harvest is largely dependent on fungicide applications; fungicide-resistant isolates of B. cinerea have been recovered from various hosts. Resistance of B. cinerea to fludioxonil has been associated with overexpression of transporter genes (BcatrB and mfsM2) and mutations on histidine kinase proteins (Bos1, Bchhk2, Bchhk17). To identify possible mechanisms associated with fludioxonil resistance, the genomic expression of three sensitive and three low-resistant isolates was studied. Overexpression of BcatrB was observed when comparing low-resistant and sensitive isolates but was not specific to the fludioxonil treatment. Seven amino acid substitutions and one deletion were identified in the transcription factor Bcmrr1 in low-resistant isolates, associated with overexpression of BcatrB. The L497 deletion, previously associated with highly resistant isolates (MDR1h), was observed in two low-resistant isolates. Other differentially expressed genes associated with transmembrane transport, oxidoreductase activity, and lipid metabolic processes could be key in understanding the fungicidal mechanism(s) of fludioxonil. Expression profiles were isolate-specific. Following fludioxonil exposure, two sensitive isolates of B. cinerea sensu stricto showed a change in gene expression levels associated with cell membrane and peroxidase activity. In one low-resistant isolate of B. cinerea group S, fludioxonil exposure resulted in the overexpression of stress response genes and MFS transporter Bcstl1; one sensitive and two low-resistant isolates showed no significant changes in gene expression profiles. This work provides insight into the effect of fludioxonil on B. cinerea and potential fungicide resistance mechanisms. [Figure: see text] Copyright © 2024 The Author(s). Femoral Physeal-Sparing ACL Reconstruction With Iliotibial Band Autograft Over-the-Top With Associated Lateral Extra-Articular Tenodesis
Background: Injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the pediatric population have been exponentially increasing over the years. However, surgical techniques typically employed for ACL reconstruction (ACL-R) in adults may injure the physes of skeletally immature patients, resulting in growth disturbances. Indications: Currently, ACL-R is recommended for most patients, aiming to return the patient to their previous activities as well as reduce the risk of further instability, meniscal and chondral injuries, and early osteoarthritis. Pediatric ACL-R techniques may vary widely. In this video, the technique chosen was over-the-top on the femur with a vertical tibial tunnel, in addition to a lateral extra-articular tenodesis, using the iliotibial (IT) band as the graft. Technique Description: The patient is positioned in standard supine arthroscopic position. An incision is made over the lateral epicondyle and the IT band is exposed. A 2-cm-wide graft is harvested. The proximal aspect of the graft is truncated as high as possible, and the distal aspect is left attached to Gerdy tubercle. Arthroscopic portals are established, and the remanent ACL is debrided, exposing the posterior aspect of the lateral femoral condyle. The capsule is penetrated using a Schnidt tonsil to establish the over-the-top position, which is subsequently exchanged for a cardiac clamp. The graft sutures are grasped using the clamp and pulled into the joint. The tibial tunnel is drilled at the anatomic footprint of the ACL. The graft is threaded over-the-top of the lateral femoral condyle and through the tibial tunnel. Finally, femoral graft fixation is performed on the lateral femoral condyle using interrupted sutures through the IT band and periosteum, and tibial graft fixation is performed with standard interference fixation. Results: Previous literature shows low re-rupture rates, excellent postoperative patient-reported outcomes, and high return to sport rates. Conclusion: In the pediatric population, there is still no ACL-R technique defined as the gold standard. The described technique is a valuable option for ACL-R in skeletally immature patients, with low revision rates and excellent postoperative outcomes. In addition, this technique minimizes the risk of growth disturbances and effectively stabilizes the knee, allowing patients to return to previous activities.
