No full textInternational audienceWhy does consideration of the constitutive nature of technique imply a new way of thinking about the transcendental question? Bernard Stiegler’s work begins with this question, as he attempts to develop tools for analysing the a priori technical conditions of noesis. Starting with Technique and Time, we examine why Stiegler wishes to inherit this question, and show how he transforms it. What is at stake in this transformation is, on the one hand, a new articulation of what is de facto and de jure, according to a logic of the afterthought, and, on the other hand, a heteronomous conception of reason that implies thinking afresh about the belief in its necessity.En quoi la prise en considération du caractère constitutif de la technique implique-t-elle de penser nouvellement la question transcendantale ? L’œuvre de Bernard Stiegler commence par cette question en tâchant d’élaborer les outils permettant une analyse des conditions techniques a priori de la noèse. À partir de La technique et le temps nous interrogeons la raison pour laquelle Stiegler tient à hériter de cette question et nous montrons comment il la transforme. The Legend of Saint Alan: Larnaudie and Stiegler in the Oversight Committee Room
No full textInternational audienceTen years on from the 2008 global financial crisis, this article sets in dialogue two French treatments – by the novelist Mathieu Larnaudie and the philosopher Bernard Stiegler – of footage of the 2008 testimony of Alan Greenspan, former chairman of the US Federal Reserve, before the United States House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The article introduces and compares the concepts of ‘effondrement’ and ‘prolétarisation’ developed by the two writers in relation to the Greenspan hearing, and analyses how both understand the question of ideology as it emerges in the hearing. Informed by interviews conducted by the author with Larnaudie and Stiegler, the piece concludes by discussing the notion common to both writers that Greenspan is a ‘saint’ of the crisis

No full textPurpose/Context. This article explores Bernard Stiegler’s philosophy of technics, focusing on the moral dimension of the pharmacological perspective. Its purpose is motivated by the bioethical questions arising from the Stieglerian standpoint, particularly the phenomena of addictions to digital technology and the social and cognitive effects of the multimedia context.
Method/Approach. The methodological approach is Stiegler’s pharmacological perspective, whereby we can rethink the bases of ethics and morals in the digital realm.
Results/Findings. It makes a theoretical contribution to the debate on the adverse effects and benefits of adopting digital technology for all knowledge domains and social relationships, emphasizing attention disorders and symptoms of psychosocial distress.
Discussion/Conclusions/Contributions. It provides useful elements for a methodological rapproachement between the philosophy of technology and bioethics (from pharmacology and organology). Thus, the research and analysis of the Stieglerian corpus clarify the bioethical proposals that coexist from the pharmacological perspective.Propósito/Contexto. Este artículo hace un recorrido por la filosofía de la técnica de Bernard Stiegler, con un enfoque en la dimensión moral de la perspectiva farmacológica. Su propósito está motivado por las cuestiones bioéticas que surgen de la perspectiva stiegleriana, en particular, por lo que concierne a los fenómenos de las adicciones a la tecnología digital y los efectos sociales y cognitivos que el contexto multimedia genera.

El artículo hace una contribución teórica al debate sobre los efectos problemáticos y los beneficios de la adopción de la tecnología digital en todos los campos del saber y de las relaciones sociales, con un énfasis en los trastornos de la atención y los síntomas de malestar psicosocial.
Discusión/Conclusiones/Contribuciones. Su contribución está en los elementos útiles que ofrece para un acercamiento metodológico entre la filosofía de la tecnología y la bioética (desde la farmacología y la organología). En este sentido, el trabajo de investigación y análisis del corpus stiegleriano se presenta como una aclaración de las apuestas bioéticas que conviven en la perspectiva farmacológica.Objetivo/Contexto. This article examines the problem of cognitive impoverishment in the age of digital and information technologies through a critical discussion of two philosophers who have advanced lapidary diagnoses of the effects of contemporary media on human consciousness: Bernard Stiegler and Paul Virilio. Its purpose is to investigate possible lines of resistance against the cognitive effects of digital and computer media.
Methodology/Approach. The methodological approach proceeds through a comparative study, framed in the concept of "anthropic perimeter", a posthumanist approach to human subjectivity and biology.
Results/Findings. The article makes a theoretical contribution to the debate on the cognitive and political effects of new technologies.
Discussion/Conclusions/Contributions. His contribution consists of the identification of two possible philosophical responses to the current situation of addiction and impoverishment caused by media technologies. The theoretical framework delineates future lines of research on the subject from a posthumanist.Propósito/Contexto. Este artículo examina el problema del empobrecimiento cognitivo en la era de la tecnología digital y la información, a través de una discusión crítica de dos filósofos que han avanzado sendas diagnosis de los efectos de los medios contemporáneos en la consciencia humana: Bernard Stiegler y Paul Virilio. No full textWhy Simondon in a volume dedicated to Stiegler? It is not that Stiegler’s oeuvre cannot be examined without referring to the crucial influence that Simondon had for his thought. More important than this, it is only through Simondon that Stiegler makes sense. Simondon is keen to remind us that sense, first and foremost, stands for directionality: to make sense is to grasp a direction. Without Simondon’s critical reformulation of our technological becoming, Stiegler’s project remains null. In a non-zero-sum game, Stiegler through Simondon and (retroactively) Simondon through Stiegler, produce the norms and values of a directing sense that can indeed compel us to engage in our worldly endeavours with neganthropic care.Theory, Territories & Transition
Vulnerability of Primary Productivity and Its Carbon Use Efficiency to Unfavorable Climatic Conditions in Jambi Province, Indonesia
No full textClimatic conditions and land cover play crucial roles in influencing the process of carbon uptake through vegetation. This study aimed to analyze the effect of climate variability on carbon uptake of four different land covers in Jambi Province, Indonesia. The four land cover types studied were: forest, shrub, grass, and irrigated soybean, based on Community Land Model version 5. Forest was found to have the highest net primary production (NPP) compared to the other land covers. Seasonal climate variability showed no major effect on NPP and gross primary production (GPP). However, GPP and NPP experienced significant declines during El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO), particularly in 2015. Carbon use efficiency (CUE = NPP/GPP) was also affected by ENSO, where CUE decreased during El Niño, particularly in October and November with an increased number of days without rainfall. In addition, the difference between latent (LE) and sensible heat (H) flux, denoted as (LE-H), decreased from August to November. This difference was highly correlated with NPP. This result indicates that when water supply is low, stomata will close, thereby reducing photosynthesis and transpiration, and allocating more of the available energy to sensible heat flux rather than latent heat flux
