Dimensioamento e Análise de Diferentes Propostas de Longarinas para Pontes de Concreto Armado

TCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Centro Tecnológico. Engenharia Civil.

Results of integrated magnetic and GPR surveys in the St. Vincenzo archaeological site (Stromboli Island, Italy)

Identification of buried cultural heritage in geophysical records is hampered by the often irregular geometry and by the limited target/background contrast. Data integration offers a viable solution in favorable cases and in particular for areal mapping of buried foundations or building remains through the integration of magnetic and GPR surveys. Irregular and isolated targets, lacking lateral continuity and identifiable geome t r i c p a t t e r n , a r e c h a r a c t e r i s t i c o f pre- and proto- historic sites and require complementary strategies to achieve optimum interpretation results. We propose and test a combined 2.5/3-D GPR survey strategy based on single-fold and mul t i - fold data, integrated by magnetic (gradiometric) surveys. GPR data analysis is based on standard section/volume interpretation complemented by multi-attribute and wavelet analysis for the identification of targets of potential archeological interest. The method is tested on a dataset from the St. Vincenzo protohistoric site (Stromboli Island, Italy). The results give evidence of many often superimposed buried remains and allow detailed pre-excavation planning. Geophysical outcomes are validated by the archaeological excavation that identified remains of a Middle-Bronze Age (1650-1400 B.C.) village and most recent structures and objects

On the Sudakov Form Factor, and a Factor of Two

I answer a question that Roman Jackiw asked me, and I draw some lessons from the answer. The question is: why is the Sudakov form factor larger by a factor of two, if computed for off-shell fermions, in comparison to the onshell case? The answer sheds some light on the interplay between infrared and collinear singularities — and the importance of factors of two

New Land Values Patterns in the Space of the Italian Metropolitan Areas: The Case of the Logistic Retro-port in Naples

    No full text
AbstractIn the perspective of the new level of government - the Metropolitan city of Naples- one of the most challenging projects concerns the redevelopment of the ex-industrial areas located in the eastern zone of the city, characterized by the presence of the port. One of the reasons for the slowness in which the program of urban regeneration proceed (NaplEst) is the generic identification of the demand for new functions in an area which plays a strategic role in the metropolitan context. The article, starting from an analysis of the land values in the space of the metropolitan city, wants to highlight their evolution. With reference to the land values in the peripheral areas, it is possible to see new values, more significant with regard to the past. In this new and discontinued framework of land values, a more realistic proposal for the regeneration of the retro-port is relevant: the logistic function, in accordance with the “State Plan of a first Intervention for the South industrial ports”

Iranians in China : Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, and Bureaus of Commerce

Forte Antonino.
