Synergia Project
The Synergia Project is a new initiative whose purpose is to promote online learning technology to support the diffusion of co-operative knowledge (both formal and tacit) and practice to meet the challenges of building a sustainable, equitable, and socially just future. A key aim of the project is to bridge the international co-operative movement with the emerging movement for a new commons and the global movement for sustainability.
Housed at the Athabasca University (AU) and supported by the participation of British Columbia-Alberta Social Economy Research Alliance (BALTA) in Canada, Co-operatives UK, Schumacher College, and the P2P Foundation, the project commenced in December 2013 with a dialogue process that engages key innovators and experts from the co-op, new commons and sustainability fields to participate in the design and content of an online learning platform using MOOC technology. The project is funded by the AU Research Fund.
The completion of the program design and the confirmation of the MOOC content comprise Stage 1 of the project. Stage 2 entails the completion of the MOOC “curriculum” and the launch of the Synergia MOOC with links to concrete development opportunities on the ground.
The project is being co-ordinated by Mike Gismondi at the Centre for Social Science at AU. John Restakis, Research Associate with Co-operatives UK and Research Investigator with the FLOK Project, is Lead Researcher for the Project and Pat Conaty, Research Associate with Co-operatives UK, is the Research Lead for the UK.Athabasca University; BC-Alberta Social Economy Research Alliance (BALTA); Co-operatives UK; Schumacher College; and the P2P Foundatio
Synergia Summer Institute – Monte Ginezzo, Tuscany - Transition to Co-operative Commonwealth: Pathways to a new political economy
Synergia will be organizing its first face-to-face program at the Synergia Summer Institute, September 4 - 23, at Monte Ginezzo in Tuscany. Transition to Co-operative Commonwealth - Pathways to a New Political Economy, is an intensive 3-week program that will cover Synergia's key online course subjects and feature many of our course developers and collaborators as instructors and workshop leaders.
The course unites the global with the local through the diffusion of ideas, models, and practices that advance game-changing solutions in the following key areas:
• Co-operative Capital & Social Finance; Alternative Currencies
• Co-op & Commons-Based housing & Land Tenure; Community Land Trusts
• Renewable Energy; Community-owned energy systems
• Local & Sustainable food systems; Community Supported Agriculture
• User-controlled health & social care; Social & Community Service Co-ops
• Co-operative and Commons Governance
• Platform Co-operatives, Digital Commons & Peer-to-Peer productions systems
• Convergence and the New Political Economy; Principles, Propositions, and Practices
This document provides the detailed Synergia program for further information about content, the program structure, instructors, fees and other details.Synergia ; Synergia Institut

Simulation of the Fermilab Booster using Synergia
High precision modeling of space-charge effects is essential for designing future accelerators as well as optimizing the performance of existing machines. Synergia is a high-fidelity parallel beam dynamics simulation package with fully three dimensional space-charge capabilities and a higher-order optics implementation. We describe the Synergia framework, developed under the auspices of the DOE SciDAC program, and present Synergia simulations of the Fermilab Booster accelerator and comparisons with experiment. Our studies include investigation of coherent and incoherent tune shifts and halo formation

Transverse space charge effect calculation in the Synergia accelerator modeling toolkit
This paper describes a transverse space charge effect calculation algorithm, developed in the context of accelerator modeling toolkit Synergia. The introduction to the space charge problem and the Synergia modeling toolkit short description are given. The developed algorithm is explained and the implementation is described in detail. As a result of this work a new space charge solver was developed and integrated into the Synergia toolkit. The solver showed correct results in comparison to existing Synergia solvers and delivered better performance in the regime where it is applicable

Overview of the synergia 3-D multi-particle dynamics modeling framework
High precision modeling of space-charge effects is essential for designing future accelerators as well as optimizing the performance of existing machines. Synergia is a high-fidelity parallel beam dynamics simulation package with fully three dimensional space-charge capabilities and a higher-order optics implementation. We describe the Synergia framework and model benchmarks we obtained by comparing to semi-analytic results and other codes. We also present Synergia simulations of the Fermilab Booster accelerator and comparisons with experiment
Synergia-pientuulivoimalan saneeraus
