Prior to the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia mission of promoting domestic tourism by local tourist, this study encompasses in exploring one creative opportunity in promoting tourism destination which is celebrity endorsement. The relationship between celebrity endorsements, destination image and tourist intention to visit towards a tourism destination were investigated. By using self-administered questionnaire adapted from previous researchers, some of the issues of interest were obtained.Samples of 412 local tourists in Kuala Lumpur has complete the set of survey questionnaire regarding the issues in order to accomplish the objective of the study. The idea is that when celebrity endorsement is communicated towards a desired target market, it could have the ability to create positive attitude towards the destination, which in turn may have positive influence on intention to visit the destination. The results show an interesting finding whereby destination image were found mediate the relationship between celebrity endorsement and intention to visit. This study will contribute to other researcher since there are few studies on celebrity endorsement in the hospitality industry especially in Malaysia. Besides that, effectiveness of celebrity endorsement in promoting tourism destination could create a large boost in sale in hospitality industry because of the increasing number of tourist to visit a particular destination

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Silvaco modelling and characterization of bulk and partially depleted devices for 0.35 and 0.5 µm channel gate length / Syed Omar Farouq Syed Mashor

This thesis presents about the Silvaco Modelling and Characterization of BulkSi and Partially Depleted SOI (PD SOI) Devices for 0.35 and 0.5 µm Channel Gate Length. Two scales of channel lengths, 0.35µm and 0.5µm have been used for the comparison. The comparisons are focused on three main electrical characteristics which are leakage current, threshold voltage and subthreshold voltage for bulk-Si nMOSFET and PD SOI technology. The structure of n-MOSFET is constructed using Silvaco Athena and its electrical characteristics are examined by Silvaco Atlas. From the result analysis shown that the electrical characteristics of Partially-Depleted SOI devices reduce threshold voltage, subthreshold slope and leakage currents as compared to bulk-Si devices [1]. Lowering the threshold voltage means that the supply voltage can be reduced significantly without degrading device speed performance and reduce time taken for device to turn on or turn off [2]. Next, steeper subthreshold slope is desirable due to low power application for the device [3]. Moreover, lower leakage will give advantage since it is suitable for high speed application [3]. Hence, the comparisons that have made shown that 0.5µm channel gate length produced better electrical characteristics compared to 0.35µm channel gate length. However, all the issues and weakness in electrical characteristics as the device shrinks can be improved using SOI technology. Finally, a summary of the work is presented along with insights gained toward future research as the device scaling down

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Entrepreneurial intention from the context of B40 strata / Faizah Mashahadi, Syed Ashrene Syed Omar and Razmah Mahmod

Malaysia has achieved much in reducing poverty and quality of life for most of the population. The government is consistently taking effective measures to transform the country from a low-income to high-income country. However, Malaysia is now facing with the reality of slow progression in the transformation process because of Covid-19. Indeed, the number of B40 strata has increased tremendously. Despite the pandemic that has forced the government to make major adjustment on the transformation program, the government is still optimist and committed to boost up the household income of low-income earners (B40). Due to the significance of entrepreneurship to improve standard of living and income distribution, this study aims to examine the determinants of entrepreneurial intention among B40 strata in Malaysia. Following the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), the study examines the extent to which attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control predict entrepreneurial intention among B40 strata in Malaysia. A questionnaire survey is done using the sample of B40. The hypotheses are analysed by using partial least square-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The result suggests that only attitude and perceived behavioural control are significant to explain B40 entrepreneurial intention. While subjective norm is found as a non-significant predictor in explaining B40 entrepreneurial intention. The paper extends the current knowledge on entrepreneurial intention by analysing TPB and provide insightful input from the context of entrepreneurial intention among B40 in Malaysia

Fast food restaurant industry scenario in Malaysia:college students' perceptions / Ahmad Esa Abdul Rahman , Sharifah Nadzrah Syed Omar

The proliferation of fast food restaurants is one of the most notable developments in the Malaysian foodservice industry. The sector has grown at a rapid rate over the past 20 years. Despite the continuing debate in western countries about fast food's role and contributions toward the deterioration of public health, the industry is believed to be benefiting from current local demographic trends, urbanization and changing lifestyles. Given that college students are considered as major customers of the fast food industry, it is noteworthy to investigate how they perceive the industry in Malaysia. The study initially explores college students' perceptions of fast food restaurant's service quality. It also examines the attributes that influence consumer preferences for fast food restaurants and analyses different fast food brand positions in the college market. This quantitative study was conducted at various public and private higher learning institutions in Klang Valley. A survey was conducted through distributing questionnaires to college students from different academic programs. A total of 1000 self-administered questionnaires were distributed with a 98.5% response rate. Using quantitative analysis, the data was computed and analyzed by using SPSS program. The results indicate that college students perceive fast food restaurants in Malaysia to be of a high quality. Their fast food restaurant choices were strongly influenced by the restaurant's cleanliness, consistency of menu items, and location. The results further suggest that McDonald's is the strongest fast food brand in Malaysia, followed by KFC and then Burger King, giving a clear dichotomy between those restaurants that have an established image and those that have not. Marketers need to identify the factors that local customers consider more important when making a decision on the selection of a fast food restaurant, and their marketing strategies should have a sound understanding of consumer perceptions and preferences and how they differ across different cultures
