Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Full text linkAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan perilaku komunikasi Jemaat Ahmadiyah dalam posisi mereka sebagai kelompok yang dilarang menyebarkan ajarannya. Dengan menggunakan teori manajemen privasi komunikasi yang diperkenalkan oleh Sandra Petronio, penelitian ini berusaha menjelaskan proses dialektis yang dilakukan oleh jemaat Ahmadiyah di kota Semarang ketika berinteraksi dengan banyak orang dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Jemaat Ahmadiyah melakukan pembukaan informasi privat dengan komunikasi langsung dan tidak langsung. Jemaat Ahmadiyah melakukan pembukaan informasi privat bertujuan untuk mengklarifikasi kesalahpahaman ghair tentang Ahmadiyah. Jemaat Ahmadiyah kota Semarang cenderung menutup informasi privat mereka kepada keluarga dan teman ketika mereka baru berbai’at. Mereka juga menutup informasi privat kepada orang-orang Muhammadiyah, serta kepada kelompok-kelompok Islam garis keras, seperti FPI, LDII, termasuk juga kader PKS. Tetapi mereka membuka informasi mengenai Ahmadiyah kepada orang-orang dari kalangan NU, dan aparatur pemerintah. Abstract : This research aims to describe the behavior of Ahmadiyyah community in their position as a group that is prohibited from spreading its teachings. Using the communication privacy management theory introduced by Sandra Petronio, this research attempts to explain the dialectical process undertaken by the Ahmadiyah community in the Semarang city while interacting with many people in everyday life. The results of this study indicate that the Ahmadiyyah community conducts the opening of private information with direct and indirect communication. The Ahmadiyah community conducted the opening of private information aimed to clarify misunderstanding about “ghair” of Ahmadiyah. The Ahmadiyah community of Semarang tends to hide their private information from family and friends when they are newly banned. They also hide private informations to Muhammadiyah people, as well as to hard-line Islamic groups, such as FPI, LDII, as well as PKS cadres. But they do not hide information about Ahmadiyyah to people from the NU, and the government apparatus
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Spiritual Communication of Selakaran Among Sasak Muslim Community During The Covid-19 Pandemic
Full text linkThe COVID-19 pandemic has introduced unparalleled challenges to individuals worldwide, resulting in substantial alterations in lifestyles. These alterations encompass the adoption of health protocols, such as social distancing and frequent handwashing. Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that certain Sasak Muslim communities have opted for a distinctive approach in confronting the pandemic. Their chosen strategy revolves around the performance of rituals. These rituals, executed collectively, are perceived by the Sasak Muslim community as a means to counteract the global COVID-19 pandemic. To comprehensively explore the significance of these rituals within the Sasak Muslim community's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this qualitative research employs an ethnographic approach. The overarching goal is to gain insight into how these rituals are construed and employed by the community. The study's findings unveil that the Sasak Muslim community perceives the pandemic as a typical ailment, one that can be alleviated through a deepened connection with Allah. One of the primary methods through which this closeness is sought is an increased engagement in dhikr, which involves the remembrance of Allah, and prayers performed within the framework of specific rituals such as Selakaran
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Then the Ministry of Law and Human Rights officially freeze the Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) community organization because it is considered against the Pancasila. The impact of the government also directly prohibits all activities related to HTI. Kemendagri forbids all Civil Servants (PNS) to become HTI members, otherwise, their status as civil servants will be revoked. Even had also circulated a list of names of HTI members who served as civil servants of the State (ASN). This study aims to see the patterns of communication made by HTI members of Mataram city after the publication of Perppu No / 02 / Tahun / 2017 and freezing of HTI SK by Kemenkumham. The results of this study indicate that the HTI of Mataram responded to the release of Perppu no / 02/2017 and HTI freezing in several ways, including no longer using HTI identity when conveying the idea of Khilafah, abolishing the name of HTI in weekly bulletins dispersed in mosques but still explore the idea of Khilafah

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
