    Psycholinguistic Approaches to Enhancing Arabic Speaking Proficiency through Comic Strips

    This study explores the effectiveness of using comic strips as a psycholinguistic approach to enhance Arabic speaking proficiency (maharat al-kalam) among students. Traditional methods of teaching Arabic often emphasize grammar memorization, which can disengage students and hinder their ability to apply the language in spoken contexts. In contrast, comic strips provide a visual and narrative framework that makes learning more engaging, promoting better vocabulary retention and comprehension of sentence structures. Quantitative data was gathered through pre-tests, post-tests, and speaking tasks, while qualitative data was obtained from questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The results showed significant improvement in the experimental group in terms of vocabulary retention, sentence structure comprehension, and speaking confidence. The visual and contextual elements of comic strips helped students internalize the language more effectively. Additionally.  However, some challenges were noted in understanding cultural contexts within the comic strips. Notably, while comics are typically used to motivate and enhance maharat al-qiro'ah (reading skills), this study found that they can also be effectively applied to improve maharat al-kalam (speaking skills) through the incorporation of Arabic vocabulary and a psycholinguistic approach.  This study concludes that comic strips offer a valuable and innovative tool for enhancing Arabic speaking proficiency, providing both cognitive and motivational benefits

    Azyumardi Azra is an Islamic thinker and reformer who is able to break down the barriers of bureaucracy, so he managed to transform IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta became UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.     Overview of Indonesian Islamic Education: A Social, Historical and Political Perspective

    The aim of this study is to examine how the historical genealogy of Islamic educational tradition, particularly the tradition of teaching and learning, has contributed to the development of Islamic education in Indonesia. By drawing together in an analytic way a historically based description of the social and political circumstances surrounding Indonesian Islamic education, the study discusses some significant issues concerning the religious base, knowledge base, structural form, and the pedagogical approach of Indonesian Islamic education, all of which are important to the development of a modern form of Islamic education. The argument of the thesis is that the existing values of the Islamic tradition in education, particularly evident in Madrasah schools, provide a valuable basis for further developing and reconstructing an effective Islamic education system in Indonesia. However, there is also a strong need to construct an Islamic education curriculum in Indonesia that can meet the challenge posed by the circumstances generally understood as 'modernity'. The quality of teaching and learning in the Madrasah are very much influenced by the quality of the wider Islamic education programme. Any change in the curriculum of Islamic education will thus have significant effects on the quality of the Madrasah schools in Indonesia. This thesis will thus conclude by suggesting some implications for further development of Islamic education that arise from the study. This is a qualitative study using an historical genealogical approach to discover, understand and analyze the challenges currently facing Islamic education In Indonesia. The techniques for collecting data involved, primarily, a critical reading of historical and contemporary policy documents. Primary and secondary sources were also collected, studied and subjected to a critical reading in the production of this account of Indonesian Islamic education

    Discourse of Faḍâ’il al-Qur’an: Muhammad Shadiq's Presentation of the Quran's Privileges in the Book of Qalb al-Qur’an

    The purpose of this article is to explain Muhammad Shadiq's Qalb al-Qur'an in his work, faḍâ’il al-Qur'an. The inquiries are as follows: What Qur'anic verses are contained in Qalb al-Qur'an? How do the faḍâ’il al-Qur'an forms in Surah al-Fâ'tiḥah verses 4-5 illustrate receiving privileges from the Qur'an? The book of Qalb al-Qur'an by Muhammad Shadiq has a representation of faḍâ’il al-Qur'an that has about 56 features, according to qualitative-descriptive methodologies, informative, and performative approaches from Sam D. Gill. These features consist of a combination of one or two verses that make up the 114 surahs of the Qur'an's qalb (heart). The author shows the fourth and fifth verses in Surah al-Fâ’tiḥah as qalb based on several interpretations as evidence of its specialty study. While the fifth verse discusses the responsibilities of a servant who must worship only Allah and always seek His help, the fourth verse discusses Allah's power in the cosmos and how He has the right to reward and hold each of His servants accountable in the hereafter. These two verses are regarded as the qalb in Surah al-Fâ’tiḥah because they have a much deeper, more distinctive, and all-encompassing meaning than the other verse

Thesis: English Letters Department of Adab and Humanities Faculty, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, November 2014. The study in this paper discusses the translation procedure of the poem on the tittle ?Prayer for Rain? which is translated by Taufik Ismail. The important purpose in this research, the author tries to explain the translation procedures used in translating at poem Prayer for Rain by David Campbell. The writer uses descriptive qualitative method, to describe and analyze identifies the process of how an English word of the poem is translated into Bahasa Indonesia. In addition, this study also identifies whether the translation process results the changes of manner. To suport the analyses, the writer use some books, and dictionaries, namely A Text book of Translation (Peter Newmark), Teori & Praktek Penerjemahan (Frans Sayogie), Kamus Lengkap Indonesia-Inggris a(2004). The writer uses the theory of translation procedure. Finally, the writer finds fourteen words of translation procedure from Prayer for Rain poem. The background of the problem the author faces is examining the words of Sheikh Nawawi Al-Jawi, who shows his concern for theology in explaining the deviations committed by the Khawarij, Mu'tazilah, Jahmiyyah, theologians and philosophers by quoting the information presented by the Sheikh. Nawawi Al-Jawi in his books. This research aims to realise what has been pioneered by Syekh Nawawi Al-Jawi in strengthening the Islamic faith in Indonesian society -formerly until now- regarding theology which can be understood rationally through the method of studying the science of Kalam which is by the understanding of ahlussunnah wal jama'ah. The method used in this study is the thematic method, by observing the words of Sheikh Nawawi Al-Jawi and what the competent scholars pay attention to in the field of kalam by including other modern references from books of interpretation, hadith, language and others. This research is divided into three parts; the first part: a global explanation regarding ahlussunnah wal jama'ah in books written by Syekh Nawawi al-Jawi. The second part: the views and attitudes of Sheikh Nawawi Al-Jawi in discussing the science of kalam.     AbstrakRumah tradisional Kampung Pulo dibangun oleh Embah Dalem Syarif Muhammad, sekitar abad ke-17. Pembangunan keenam rumah  dan sebuah masigit yang kini berada di Desa Cangkuang Kecamatan Leles, Kabupaten Garut, diperuntukkan keenam putrinya dan seorang putranya. Arsitektur tradisional rumah Kampung Pulo, mencirikan unsur budaya Sunda, baik bentuk, struktur, dan ragam hiasnya walau tidak secara langsung, tetapi tetap mempertahankan tata nilai yang ada sepanjang perjalanan sejarahnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali dan memahami peranan masyarakat di dalam mempertahankan arsitektur rumah serta fungsi simbol-simbol dalam kehidupan masyarakat serta hubungannya dengan arsitektur rumah Kampung Pulo. Adapun metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian deskriptif analitis. AbstractTraditional houses of Kampung Pulo were built around 17th century by Embah Dalem Syarif Muhammad. These houses comprise six houses for his daughters and a mosque for his son. As a whole, the architecture of the houses reflect Sundanese traditional architecture that preserved its values over history. The goal of the research is to dig and to comprehend the role of the society in preserving the architecture and the function of symbols in the society in relation to the architecture itself. The methodology of research is based on Winarno Surakhmad (1985:139): a method that is used to investigate and to solve problems that covers collecting, analysing and interpreting data, as well as making conclusion based on the research.     ABSTRAK Metode dakwah adalah suatu kegiatan yang bertujuan untuk mengajak atau memanggil dalam kebaikan dalam bentuk lisan, tulian, tingkah laku yang dilakukan secara sadar dan berencana dalam usaha mempengaruhi orang lain baik dilakukan secara individual maupun secara kelompok supaya timbul dalam dirinya suatu pengertian, kesadaran, serta pengamalan terhadap ajaran agama sebagai pesan yang disampaikan kepada anak-anak panti asuhan Syarif hidayatullah untuk membina akhlak anak, sehingga akhlak anak panti menjadi lebih baik lagi, karena akhlak menempati posisi penting dalam ajaran Islam. Oleh karena itu, seorang muslim mempunyai kewajiban untuk membina akhlak sesuai ajaran islam yang dicontohkan Rasulullah saw. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui metode dakwah dalam pembinaan akhlak anak yatim, piatu, yatim piatu dan anak terlantar di panti asuhan Syarif Hidayatullah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelittian ini adalah metode lapangan (Field Research) yang bersifat deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi kemudian data yang telah terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan metode berfikir induktif. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan, maka penulis menjelaskan Hasil penelitian ini adalah 1) Metode dakwah yang digunakan di Panti Asuhan Syarif Hidayatullah, menggunakan lebih dari satu metode dikarenakan tidak semua metode cocok diterapkan pada anak-anak di panti asuhan tersebut, jenis metode dakwah yang digunakan dipanti asuhan adalah metode dakwah Al-Hikmah, Mau’idza hasanah atau nasihat yang baik, nasihat yang baik ini diberikan oleh pengasuh panti kepada anak asuh agar pesan yang disampaikan bisa tersalurkan, metode dakwah yang selanjutnya yaitu al-Mujadalah yaitu metode dengan mengajak diskusi tanya jawab jadi melatih anak berani mengutarakan pendapat. 2) Metode dakwah yang digunakan di panti asuhan Syarif Hidayatullah, berdampak kepada perilaku dan tingkah laku anak yang menjadi lebih iv baik yaitu mengerjakan hal yang baik dan meninggalkan hal yang buruk contohnya melakukan sholat 5 waktu berjamaah di masjid, anak selalu terbiasa membaca al-Quran. Keberhasilan metode dakwah yang digunakan di panti asuhan yaitu dari jumlah 28 anak diantaranya 13 anak perempuan dan 15 anak laki-laki, sekitar 17 anak panti asuhan yang laki-laki maupun perempuan yang mengalami perubahan akhlak menjadi lebih baik dan sisanya 11 anak yang belum mengalami perubahan signifikan. Faktor penghambat dan pendukung dalam pembinaan akhlak di panti asuhan Syarif Hidayatullah, yaitu pergaulan anak di luar panti merupakan faktor penghambat pembinaan akhlak, dikarenakan anak asuh yang sedang mencari jati diri terpengaruh dengan pergaulan. Faktor pendukung pembinaan akhlak yaitu banyak pengajar/ pengasuh yang selalu memberikan pembinaan akhlak sesuai dengan ajaran islam. Therefore, a Muslim has an obligation to develop morals according to Islamic teachings as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad. The aim of this research is to find out the da'wah method in developing the morals of orphans, orphans and neglected children at the Syarif Hidayatullah orphanage. The method used in this research is a field method (Field Research) which is descriptive qualitative in nature. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interviews and documentation, then the data collected was analyzed using inductive thinking methods. Based on the research conducted, the author explains the results of this research are 1) The da'wah method used at the Syarif Hidayatullah Orphanage uses more than one method because not all methods are suitable for application to children in the orphanage. The type of da'wah method used in the orphanage is the Al-Hikmah, Mau'idza Hasanah da'wah method. or good advice, this good advice is given by orphanage caretakers to foster children so that the message conveyed can be transmitted, the next da'wah method is al-Mujjadi, which is a method by inviting a question and answer discussion to train children to dare to express their vi opinions. 2) The da'wah method used at the Syarif Hidayatullah orphanage has an impact on children's behavior and behavior becoming better, namely doing good things and leaving behind bad things, for example praying 5 times a day in congregation at the mosque, children are always used to reading the Koran. The success of the da'wah method used in the orphanage is that out of a total of 28 children, 13 girls and 15 boys, around 17 children from the orphanage, both boys and girls, experienced changes in their morals for the better and the remaining 11 children have not experienced any changes. significant. Inhibiting and supporting factors in developing morals at the Syarif Hidayatullah orphanage, namely the interaction of children outside the orphanage is an inhibiting factor in moral development, because foster children who are looking for their identity are influenced by social interactions. The supporting factor for moral development is that there are many teachers/caregivers who always provide moral guidance in accordance with Islamic teachings.
