Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Pemeriksaan Formalin pada Ikan Asin yang Dijual di Pusat Pasar Kota Medan
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya senyawa formalin pada ikan asin yang dijual di Pusat Pasar Kota Medan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif yaitu mengidentifikasi ada tidaknya senyawa formalin pada ikan asin di Pusat Pasar Kota Medan. Sampel ikan asin diambil dari 10 pedagang yang berjualan di Pusat Pasar Kota Medan. Jenis ikan asin yang diperiksa kadar formalinnya sebanyak 7 yaitu ikan asin kepala batu, ikan peda, ikan kakap, ikan pari, ikan pakang, ikan lidah dan ikan tenggiri. Analisis senyawa formalin dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan pereaksi asam kromatropat dan pereaksi tollens. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh sampel ikan asin yang diperiksa tidak mengandung formalin
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Pemanfaatan Telur Keong Emas (Pamacea canalicula) sebagai Media Pertumbuhan Bakteri Staphylococcus, E. coli dan Lactobacillus
Penelitian tentang Pemanfaatan Telur Keong Emas (Pamacea canalicula) Sebagai Media Pertumbuhan Bakteri Staphylococcus, E. coli dan Lactobacillus dilakukan untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan bakteri pada media telur keong emas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga tahapan yaitu a) Pembuatan media telur keong emas, b) Penanaman Koloni Bakteri Staphylococcus, Lactobacillus dan E.coli pada Media Telur Keong Emas dan c) Pewarnaan Gram Pada Biakan Bakteri Staphylococcus, Lactobacillus dan E.coli dalam media telur keong emas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa untuk bakteri E.coli, dan Staphylococcus ditemukan adanya tanda-tanda pertumbuhan bakteri baik secara fisik terlihat adanya perubahan warna, kekeruhan serta terdapat buih pada media dan mikroskopis terlihat adanya bakteri pada slide yang telah diwarnai dengan pewarnaan gram. Tetapi untuk bakteri Lactobacillus tidak ditemukan tanda-tanda pertumbuhan bakteri baik secara fisik dan mikroskopis. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa telur keong emas memiliki potensi sebagai media pertumbuhan bakteri E.coli dan Staphylococcus.Research on the Utilization of Golden Snail Eggs (Pamacea canalicula) as a Growth Media for Staphylococcus, E. coli and Lactobacillus Bacteria was carried out to determine bacterial growth in golden conch egg media. The research method used in this research is descriptive method. This research consists of three stages, namely a) Making golden snail egg media, b) Planting Staphylococcus, Lactobacillus and E.coli Bacteria in the media of Golden Snail Eggs and c) Gram Staining of Bacteria Staphylococcus, Lactobacillus and E.coli in the media of Golden Snail Eggs and c) Gram Staining of Bacteria Staphylococcus, Lactobacillus and E.coli in the media Golden snail. The results showed that for E. coli and Staphylococcus bacteria, there were signs of bacterial growth both physically visible in color changes, turbidity, as well as foam on the media and microscopic visible bacteria on the slides that had been colored with gram staining. But for Lactobacillus bacteria found no signs of bacterial growth both physically and microscopically. It can be concluded that the golden snail egg has potential as a growth medium for E. coli and Staphylococcus bacteria
Inventory of Types of Medicine Plants and Its Use by the Community in Malintang Village, Bukit Malintang Subdistrict, Mandailing Natal Regency North Sumatra

This study aims to identify and describe the types of medicinal plants and their use by the community in Malintang Village, Bukit Malintang District, Mandailing Natal Regency, North Sumatra. Based on the research results obtained from interviews with the community totaling 17 people from 370 heads of families, it can be concluded that there are 30 types of plants from 20 families that are useful as medicine in Malintang Village, Bukuit Malintang District, Mandailing Natal Regency, North Sumatra Province. There are 16 types of plants that are used for leaf parts, 6 types of fruit parts, 5 types of rhizome parts, 4 types of flower parts, 3 types of seeds, 2 types of tubers, 1 part of the skin and roots of each plant
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Effect of Applying Liquid Organic Fertilizer From Watermelon Peel Waste (Citrullus Lanatus) Against Plant Growth Curly Lettuce (Lactuca Sativa L.)
69 HalamanPupuk organik cair (POC) adalah pupuk alternatif yang dapat diproduksi secara
mendiri. Manfaat penggunaan POC yaitu dapat meningkatkan kualitas tanah dan
produksi tanaman. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh dan
konsentrasi terbaik dari pemberian POC kulit semangka (Citrullus lanatus) terhadap
pertumbuhan tanaman selada keriting (Lactuca sativa L.). Penelitian dilaksanakan dari
bulan Mei sampai Juli 2022, di Laboratorium Analisis Tanah Fakultas Pertanian USU
dan di lahan pekarangan rumah, Jl. Gatot Subroto, Sei sikambing, Gang Sukasetia no 8,
Medan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian eksperimental
dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 4 kelompok
perlakuan dan 1 kelompok kontrol, dengan masing-masing 3 ulangan. Konsentrasi yang
digunakan terdiri dari 5 taraf yaitu: (P0: 0% (kontrol) = 0 ml poc + 1000 ml air = 1L,
P1: 2,5% = 25 ml poc + 975 ml air = 1L, P2: 5% = 50 ml poc + 950 ml air = 1L, P3:
7,5% = 75 ml poc + 925 ml air = 1L, P4: 10% = 100 ml poc tanpa air). Data hasil
penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji ANOVA, yang selanjutnya dilakukan uji
BNT apabila ada pengaruh beda nyata antar perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan
bahwa, pemberian pupuk organik cair dari limbah kulit semangka tidak berpengaruh
nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, lebar daun dan berat basah tanaman
selada keriting. Perlakuan dengan konsentrasi 100 ml POC tanpa pengenceran membuat
tanaman selada menjadi layu dan mati. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi pupuk organik cair
yang diaplikasikan pada tanaman selada keriting menyebabkan pertumbuhan tanaman
selada keriting semakin tidak optimal. Liquid organic fertilizer (POC) is an alternative fertilizer that can be produced
independently. The benefits of using POC be can to improve soil quality and plant
production. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and the best
concentration of POC on watermelon rind (Citrullus lanatus) on the growth of curly
lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.). The research was carried out from May to July 2022, at the
Soil Analysis Laboratory of the USU Faculty of Agriculture and in the yard of the house,
Jl. Gatot Subroto, Sei sikambing, Gang Sukasetia no 8, Medan. The research method
used is an experimental research method using a completely randomized design (CRD)
consisting of 4 treatment groups and 1 control group, with 3 replications each. The
concentration used consisted of 5 levels, namely: (P0: 0% (control) = 0 ml poc + 1000
ml water = 1L, P1: 2.5% = 25 ml poc + 975 ml water = 1L, P2: 5% = 50 ml poc + 950
ml water = 1L, P3: 7.5% = 75 ml poc + 925 ml water = 1L, P4: 10% = 100 ml poc
without water). The research data were analyzed using the ANOVA test, then the BNT test
was carried out if there was a significant difference between treatments. The results
showed that the application of liquid organic fertilizer from watermelon rind waste had
no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, leaf width and wet weight of curly
lettuce. Treatment with a concentration of 100 ml of POC without dilution made the
lettuce plants wither and die. The higher the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer
applied to the curly lettuce plant causes the growth of the curly lettuce plant to be less
than optimal
Ethnobotany of Mangroves as Food Ingredients by Communities in Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra
48 HalamanPenelitian mengenai mangrove di Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan masih terbatas pada pemanfaatn hutan mangrove secara umum saja, belum membahas secara detail mengenai pemanfaatan jenis mangrove sebagai bahan pangan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis mangrove yang dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pangan oleh masyarakat di Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan Kabupaten Deli Serdang Sumatera Utara. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan pedoman wawancara semi terstruktur terhadap informan/responden. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif dan persentatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 5 jenis mangrove yang dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pangan yaitu api-api (Avicennia marina) (66,67%) untuk membuat dodol, berembang (Sonneratia caseolaris) (100%) untuk membuat sirup dan selai, perepat (Sonneratia alba) (66,67%) untuk membuat sirup dan selai, jeruju (Acanthus ilicifolius L.) (20%) untuk membuat kue bawang, dan nipah (Nypa fruticans) (10%) untuk membuat jus. Bagian tumbuhan yang dimanfaatkan dari tanaman mangrove ialah buah (80%) dan daun (20%). Cara pemanfaatan dari tanaman mangrove ialah dimasak (70%), digoreng (20%) dan dimakan langsung (10%). Research on mangroves in Percut Sei Tuan Sub-district was limited to the general utilization of mangrove forests, without discussing in detail the utilization of specific mangrove species as food ingredients. The aim of this research was to determine the mangrove species utilized as food by the community in Percut Sei Tuan Sub-district, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. The method used was descriptive qualitative, employing a semi-structured interview guide with the informants/respondents. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and presented in percentages. The research findings indicated that there were five mangrove species utilized as food: fires (Avicennia marina) (66.67%) to make dodol, berembang (Sonneratia caseolaris) (100%) to make syrups and jams, perepat (Sonneratia alba) (66.67%) to make syrups and jams, jeruju (Acanthus ilicifolius L.) (20%) to make chips, and nipah (Nypa fruticans) (10%) for making juice. The plant bagians utilized from mangrove plants were fruits (80%) and leaves (20%). The utilization methods for mangrove plants included cooking (70%), frying (20%), and consuming them directly (10%)
Pemanfaatan Tanaman oleh Etnis Tionghoa dalam Ibadah di Beberapa Vihara di Kota Medan
Etnis Tionghoa adalah salah satu etnis yang memanfaatkan tumbuhan dalam
beberapa kebutuhan upacara, ritual maupun pengobatannya. Penelitian ini mengenai
pemanfaatan tanaman oleh etnis Tionghoa dalam ibadah yang bertujuan untuk
mengetahui jenis-jenis tanaman yang digunakan oleh etnis Tionghoa dalam ibadah
dibeberapa Vihara di Kota Medan dan pemanfaatannya. Metode yang digunakan dalam
penelitian ini adalah deskriptif yang bersifat kualitatif melalui pendekatan secara emik
dan etik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di 5 Vihara yang berada di Kota Medan, diperoleh
29 jenis tanaman dari 18 famili yang dimanfaatkan oleh etnis Tionghoa dalam ibadah.
50% tanaman dimanfaatkan sebagai sesaji dan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan makanan
dalam sesaji 50%. Bagian yang tanaman yang dimanfaatkan yaitu Batang 3%, Daun
13%, bunga 19%, Buah 32%, Biji 13%, Umbi 10%, Semua bagian 10%.Chinese is one of the ethnic that use some plants for their ceremony needs as
well certain ritual and therapy for most illness. This research about utilization of plants
for Chinese etnic of prayer ceremony. The purpose of this research was to asses some
kinds of useful plants among Chinese ethnic for their praying ceremony in some Viharas
in Medan with their specific function. This research used descriptive qualitative method
through emic and ethnic approach. Based on the observations which were carried out
in 5 Viharas in Medan 29 kinds of plants 18 families were used for prayer ceremony
purposes. 50% of these plant were used for offerings without being processed as
remaining 50% were processed as food/beverages which were used for offerings as
well. Regarding to functional parts, 3% of these plants were used utilizing the plant’s
stem, leaves (13%), flowers (19%), fruits(32%), seeds (13%), beets (10%), and some of
them were used as whole plant which represented as 10% of whole species
