    THE INFLUENCE OF GUIDED TEACHING METHOD ON STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN WRITING RECOUNT TEXT AT GRADE X OF MAN KISARAN

    The aim of the study is to know whether guided teaching method can give significant influence on the student’s ability in writing recount text  at grade X of MAN Kisaran. This study was conducted by using  experimental design consisting 2 groups. One group was taught by using guided teaching method and the other one was taught by using conventional way. The location of this study is MAN Kisaran. The writer took 60 students as the sample and divided them into two groups, namely the experiment group and the control group. The instrument of collecting data is an essay test. To obtain the reability of the test, the writer used Product Moment analyzed by using t-test. The result of the analysis show that t-observed 61,25 and ttable = 2,046. It proved that alternative hypothesis is accepted because t-obserbed was higher than t-table.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa jenis kesalahan dan mendeskripsikan kesalahan yang paling banyak dibuat oleh mahasiswa dalam menulis teks procedure. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Universitas Asahan. Subjek penelitian dalam  penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester V prodi bahasa Inggris Universitas Asahan sebanyak 26 orang. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini berupa hasil tulisan mahasiswa dalam bentuk teks procedure. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi pengumpulan data, menganalisis data, menghitung data dengan menggunakan rumus statistik sederhana. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa mahasiswa banyak melakukan kesalahan dalam menggunakan bentuk tatabahasa (misinformastion) dengan frekuensi kesalahan sebanyak 116 kesalahan (22,01 %), yang kedua omission dengan total kesalahan 338 (64.14 %). Yang ketiga misordering dengan total kesalahan 73 (13.85 %). Kesalahan tersebut terjadi karena mahasiswa masih terpengaruh dengan bahasa ibu sehingga mereka masih menyamakan pola dan aturan bahasa tersebut dengan bahasa Inggris. Selain itu banyak mahasiswa yang masih memiliki kemampuan yang kurang dalam tatabahasa yang dapat dikarenakan pembelajaran yang belum optimal. Kata kunci: analisis kesalahan, kesalahan tatabahasa, teks procedur

    The Effect of Scaffolding Strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension at the Second Grade of SMA Swasta Daerah Kisaran in Academic Year 2021/2022

    Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada peran dalam penerapan Strategi Scaffolding terhadap hasil pada pemahaman membaca siswa di kelas dua SMA Swasta Daerah Kisaran pada Tahun Ajaran 2021/2022. Jenis penelitian ini adalah desain penelitian kuantitatif dengan dua kelompok pre-test dan post-test. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas XI yang terdiri dari 2 kelas. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA dan XI IPS. Pada kelas XI IPS sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan Strategi Scaffolding dan pada XI IPA sebagai kelas kontrol dengan menggunakan metode pembelajaran konvensional. Setelah pembelajaran selesai. Post-test diperoleh hasil rata-rata 75,21 untuk kelas eksperimen dan 58,26 untuk kelas kontrol. Hasil uji-t diperoleh t-test = 9,63 > t-tabel = 2,021 maka Ha diterima, dengan demikian diperoleh ada pengaruh hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan Scaffolding Strategy terhadap hasil belajar membaca pemahaman siswa di kelas XI IPA SMA Swasta Daerah Kisaran

    ABSTRACT This study aims to see and to improve of social media on adolescent literacy competency during the COVID 19. This study involved respondents from school units at including the Islamic Education Madrasah Foundation (YMPI) Silo Bonto Kec.Silaut Laut Kab. Asahan, SMK Technology and Industry Muhammadiyah 5 Kisaran, SMAN I Air Batu, Pulau Rakyat Private High School with a total of 100 respondents according to the theory used. The study used a qualitative approach by placing a questionnaire as a medium for collecting data. From the results of the study, it was found that the influence of social media on adolescent literacy during the Covid 19.     The aim of this research is to find out whether there is an effect in implementing the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) learning model on Student\u27s Skill in Writing of Descriptive Text in X Grade SMA Negeri 1 Meranti 2023/2024 Academic Year. This type of research is quantitative research with a two group pre-test and post-test research design. The population in this research is the entire class X which consists of 4 classes. The research sample consisted of 2 classes (classes X1 and X2) which were taken using cluster random sampling. In class X1 as an experimental class using the Picture Word Inductive Model. In class X2 as a control class with conventional methods. After the learning was completed, a post-test was obtained with an average result for the experimental class of 84.41 and the control class of 71.91.Thus  it was found that there was an effect on student learning outcomes using the picture word inductive model on student learning outcomes in English descriptive text material for class X SMA Negeri 1 Meranti.Keywords: Picture Word Wnductive Wodel,Pwim,Descriptive Text,Writing Skil

    ABSTRACT The comprehension of SMA English material, especially in terms of reading a text, is expected to be mastered by students because this can be a picture for them whether they are ready or not to practice the teaching in school when they are taking internship 3. This expectation motivates researchers to know the extent of understanding at the fourth semester studentsof English education study program in understanding  the news item text both at the level of literal comprehension and interpretive comprehension. This research is a descriptive quantitative research which aims at describing students\u27 comprehension in understanding the news item text. The population of this study was 32 students. Because the population was less than 100 students, all population numbers became the study sample. This research method is descriptive quantitative research. Data collection techniques used written test technique using objective questions as many as 10 items. Analysis of research data was carried out by giving scores on students’ answer sheets, calculating the average and percentage, recapitulating or making tables containing score values, categorizing data, classifying, drawing conclusion and the results obtained by students\u27 reading comprehension. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the reading comprehension of the news item text of the 4th semester students of English education study program at the literal level is 75.39% with a sufficient category and 42% level of interpretive understanding with a poor category. Key words : Reading Comprehension; News Item; Lecture in the Covid-19 Pandemi

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    The purpose of this study was to determine there was an effect of game based learning strategy on students‘ ability in writing recount text at x grade of SMA 1 Air Joman in 2023/2024 academic year. This research was quantitative research with a two-group research design, experimental group and control group. The population in this research was all students of X Grade consisting of 4 classes. The sample of this research was taken from 33 students of experimental class (X IPA 2) and 33 students of control class (X IPA 3). The instrument for collecting data was writing test. The post-test was obtained with the average results of the experimental group 74,84 and the control group 66,57. T-test results obtained tscore = 5,40> ttable = 2.65 (at 1% significant level) or 2.00 (at 5% significant level). It means that Ha is accepted, thus it is obtained that there is an effect of game based learning strategy on students‘ ability in writing recount text at x grade of SMA 1 Air Joman in 2023/2024 academic year.Key word : Game Based Learning Strategy, Writing, Recount Tex
