REPRESENTASI FEMINISME DALAM KARYA SASTRA (Kajian Semiotika Novel “Eks Parasit Lajang” Karya Ayu Utami)
Literature as one means disclosure of a person's thoughts expressed in text form either used as an expression that is packaged in a special language involving the use of symbols and signs. Inside the novel "Confessions of Ex Parasite Single" by Ayu Utami, clad in deep social and feminine side of writing using signs and symbols function as the author attempts to lift the value of gender from a different angle. The purpose of this study is to determine how the meaning of “Confession Ex Parasite Single” novel by the use of signs and symbols along with the relation both through semiotic approach from Elaine Showalter. Based on the results of this study can be explained that the author seeks to elevate feminism in terms of resistance to the values of cultural and religious norms, especially in addressing the virginity resulting in suppression of meaning radically in providing a perspective on the value of these gender perceive the culture of patriarchy begin a history of oppression of women with negative stigmatization against woman's bodies.Keywords: Text and Culture, Representation, Feminis
Zainab Al-Ghazali’s Interpretation in Naẓarât Fî Kitâbillâh About Domestic Violence
The problem of Domestic Violence is still heard and happening all around
us; the verses of the Qur'an, with their understanding of their own accord, are often
used as excuses to justify such acts. Wrong understanding of nusyuz and steps to
overcome it, as in Q.S. an-Nisa/4:34 and 128, can lead to domestic violence and
will also include claims that the Qur'an positions women as always weak compared
to men, in addition to being caused by wrong interpretations of verses also caused
by several verses that position women in a lower position than men, so the author
is interested in examining the interpretation of female mufassir, i.e. Zainab al�Ghazali.
The research method used in this study is descriptive research with a
qualitative approach characterized by literature research. This study used two data,
namely: the primary data in this study was the book of Zainab al-Ghazali entitled
Naẓarât Fî Kitâbillâh and several of her other books, while the secondary data in
this study were literature such as books, journals and others that contained material
that supported this research.
According to Zainab al-Ghazali, physical violence, that is, hitting a wife, is
not allowed; according to her, the position of men as leaders of the family does not
mean that men should mistreat women. Psychic violence, i.e. 'aḍl or forbidding and
obstructing the will of a wife's choice, which results in a woman's psychic. Sexual
Violence, that is, a husband is prohibited from sexually assaulting his wife
arbitrarily, which means that the husband does not commit violence when courting
his wife. Economic Violence: A husband must not take back the dowry given and
is obliged to provide for his wife. The solution to domestic violence, according to
Zainab, if there is a quarrel or dispute in the household, it is recommended that the
judge reconcile the two (ishlah). The husband and wife must cooperate in
maintaining and managing domestic life to create a harmonious family that follows
Islamic rule
Methylglyoxal impairs human dermal fibroblast survival and migration by altering RAGE-hTERT mRNA expression in vitro
Fibroblasts are native residents in dermal layer of human skin which are important for dermal regeneration and essential during cutaneous wound healing by releasing inflammatory markers and actively migrate to close an open wound. Premature skin ageing due to methylglyoxal (MGO) has recently caught the attention considering its potential to accelerate the emergence of skin ageing signs, however previous studies were only focused in primary neonatal dermal fibroblast and NIH3t3 fibroblast cell line. Therefore, thorough investigation is required to study the impact of MGO on primary human dermal fibroblast isolated from adult subject (HDFa). In our experiments, short exposure of MGO was observed to induced significant reductions in cell viability at concentrations of 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15, and 17.5 mM (p < 0.005) after 3 hours of treatment. The cellular death of HDFa at 10, 12.5 and 15 mM of MGO were also marked by increased in intracellular ROS level, indicating the involvement of oxidative stress-induced death in these cells. We also observed enlarge scratch areas of cells exposed with 7.5 and 10 mM MGO compared to control after 26 hours, thereby suggesting a decline in cell migration and viability in this group. We propose the increased ROS as the consequence of AGE-RAGE activation which was marked by significant elevation of RAGE mRNA on cells exposed to 10 mM MGO. Our data also suggest the occurrence of DNA damage events via ROS-induced oxidation or mediated by decline in hTERT mRNA expression
The effects of luteinizing hormone as a suppression factor for apoptosis in bovine luteal cells in vitro
Hormonal and Laboratory Profile of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (Pcos) Women Visiting Fertility Center in Indonesia
Our study aims to scrutinize the hormonal and laboratory profile of women with PCOS visiting a fertility center in Indonesia. A computerized database of 120 PCOS women and 120 controls was retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. According to analysis, the concentration of AMH and basal LH were significantly more elevated in the PCOS group than in the control group (6.77 vs. 2.05, P<0.001; and 6.8 vs. 5.3, P<0.001, respectively). The level of basal FSH was significantly lower in the PCOS group (5.83 vs. 7.86; P<0.001). After an IVF cycle, PCOS women had significantly higher retrieved oocytes and mature oocytes compared to controls (18 vs. 8, P<0.001; 12 vs. 6, P<0.001). The number of fertilizations, cleavages, and top-quality cleavages were also higher in the PCOS group than in the control group (10 vs. 4, P<0.001; 10 vs. 4, P<0.001; 4 vs. 2, P<0.001). At the blastocyst stage, patients with PCOS had a higher number of blastocysts and top-quality blastocysts than control (9 vs. 4, P<0.001); 4 vs. 1, P<0.01). However, the clinical pregnancy was significantly higher in the control group than in the PCOS group (52.6% vs. 16.7%; P = 0.045)
Immature oocyte proportion in a cohort led to poor embryo development but did not reduce clinical pregnancy rate
Purpose This study aimed to evaluate the efects of immature oocyte proportion in a cohort on both IVF laboratory
and clinical outcomes.
Materials and methods This retrospective cohort study took place at Morula IVF Jakarta Clinic from January 2016
to July 2020. A total of 1.826 couples undergoing IVF-ICSI/IMSI were included and classifed into four groups according
to the proportion of immature oocytes retrieved during OPU as follows: (1) immature≤15% (n=1.064), (2) immature
16–25% (n=369), (3) immature 26–50% (n=331), and (4) immature>50% (n=62). Primary outcomes were clinical pregnancy and miscarriage. Embryology laboratory results were assessed as the secondary outcomes. Statistical analyses
were carried out utilizing Kruskal–Wallis or chi-square tests. p-value<0.05 was considered statistically signifcant.
Results Increased proportion of immature oocytes in a cohort was signifcantly associated with body mass index,
tubal factors, and estradiol level on trigger day (p<0.05). Neither clinical pregnancy nor miscarriage was associated
with the immature oocyte proportion (adjusted p-value=0.872 and p=0.345, respectively). However, a higher proportion of immature oocytes signifcantly reduced the total number of fertilized oocytes, number of top-quality cleavages, and blastocysts (p<0.001). Furthermore, embryo transfer cancelation rates due to poor embryo quality were
elevated signifcantly.
Conclusion Despite overall poor embryo development in the laboratory, our study seems to suggest that the proportion of immature oocytes in a cohort has no impact on clinical pregnancy and miscarriage rate in IVF program.

Optimizing infertility treatment for ovarian endometrioma: is surgical intervention preferable before or after in‑vitro fertilization programs?
Purpose Endometriosis is one of the common endometrial pathologies that occurs in reproductive-age women and could
lead to infertility. This study set out to observe which clinical management of endometriosis with endometrioma is prominent
in improving IVF outcomes.
Materials and methods This was a retrospective cross-sectional controlled study at Bunda General Hospital and Morula IVF
Jakarta Clinic, Indonesia from Jan 2018 to Dec 2022. A total of 279 patients diagnosed with endometriosis were recorded.
Of that, 86 couples with endometrioma underwent an in vitro fertilization program (IVF). Forty-eight women performed IVF
prior to the removal of endometrioma through surgery (IVF-OPS) while the remaining underwent surgery for endometrioma
removal followed by an IVF program (OPS-IVF). Each group was compared to the control group which was administered to
an IVF program without the removal of endometriosis. The primary outcome was the clinical pregnancy rate. Mann–Whitney
or Kruskal–Wallis and Chi square were used for statistical analysis. A p value of < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Results A comparable clinical pregnancy rate was observed across the three groups (p = 0.068). Nonetheless, the IVF-OPS
approach led to an improved number of top-quality blastocysts compared to both the control and OPS-IVF groups (p < 0.05).
Eventually, IVF-OPS was shown to be a prominent approach for endometriosis with endometrioma management in comparison
to OPS-IVF in terms of clinical pregnancy rate as well as embryology laboratory outcomes (p < 0.05).
Conclusion Our result suggested that intervention of endometriosis with removal surgery was superior when performed
after the IVF program.

The Utilization of Oocyte Cryopreservation Among Indonesia Women
Our study aims to assess the utilization of oocyte cryopreservation (OC) in Indonesian women. Data from 122 women who had undergone OC was retrospectively analyzed from medical records. The baseline profile, clinical characteristics, and main outcomes comprising intentions for oocyte vitrification and outcomes following oocyte warming were examined. Out of 122 women who underwent OC, 49 patients returned and use their cryopreserved oocytes with a median duration of storage was two months. Arranged from the greatest to the least, participants had undergone the cycle of OC due to sperm factor [51 (41.80%)], increased embryo availability [6 (12.1%)], postponement of marriage [6 (12.1%)], social reasons [10 (8.19%)], and other reasons [8 (6.55%)]. Meanwhile, treatment due to advanced maternal age [6 (4.91%)], poor ovarian reserve [6 (4.91%)], cancer [5 (4.09%)], PCOS [2 (1.63%)], and endometriosis [2 (1.63%)] was reported among remaining subjects. Clinical pregnancy was reported in 12 (40.0%) patients constituting of each 6 (50.0%) subjects of day-3 and day-5 embryo transfer, respectively. Our study demonstrated that sperm factor, increased embryo availability, and postponement of marriage is the main reason for women undergoing OC in Indonesia.
Vitrification alters growth differentiation factor 9 and follicle-stimulating hormone receptor expression in human cumulus-mural granulosa cells
Objective: Ovarian tissue vitrification is widely utilized for fertility preservation in prepubertal and adolescent female patients with cancer.
The current literature includes reports of successful pregnancy and live birth following autografting. However, the effects of the vitrification
process on cumulus-mural granulosa cells (C-mGCs)—somatic cells in ovarian tissue crucial for oocyte maturation and early embryonic development—remain unclear. This study was conducted to explore the impact of vitrification on the cellular function of C-mGCs by quantifying the expression of growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF-9), bone morphogenetic protein 15 (BMP-15), follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR), luteinizing hormone receptor (LHR), connexin 37, survivin, and caspase 3.
Methods: Mature and immature C-mGCs were obtained from 38 women with polycystic ovary syndrome who participated in an in vitro fertilization program. The C-mGCs were then divided into two groups: fresh and vitrified. The expression levels of target genes were assessed using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction.
Results: After vitrification, GDF-9 expression was significantly decreased among both mature and immature C-mGCs, with 0.2- and 0.1-fold
changes, respectively (p0.05).
Conclusion: Vitrification may compromise oocyte maturation through reduced GDF-9 and FSHR expression in C-mGCs after warming.

Clinical Pregnancy Is Not Associated with Sperm Quality in POSEIDON Group 1 and 2 Patients
This study is aimed at establishing the effects of varying sperm quality on IVF-ICSI/IMSI outcomes in unexpected poor ovarian
responder subjects of POSEIDON groups 1 and 2. In the present study, 1,263 couples with female partners who fulfilled the
POSEIDON group 1 and 2 criteria were recruited. All couples underwent ICSI or IMSI at Morula IVF Jakarta Clinic,
Indonesia. Patients were subsequently classified into six groups, according to semen conditions of the respective male partners:
(1) normozoospermic, (2) teratozoospermia, (3) oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OAT), (4) asthenozoospermia, (5) severe OAT,
and (6) cryptozoospermia. Laboratory and clinical outcomes of the IVF-ICSI/IMSI program were then evaluated. Early and
late embryonic development parameters including the number of fertilization, cleavage and blastocyst stages, and blastocyst
quality differed significantly among the different sperm quality groups (p < 0:05). No difference was observed in the number of
embryo transfers and clinical pregnancy among the studied groups (p > 0:05). Our study has demonstrated the effect of sperm
quality on embryo development at the early and later stages; however, the clinical pregnancy was not impaired in the
unexpected poor responders of POSEIDON groups 1 and 2
