Sustainable infrastructure, energy projects, and economic growth: mediating role of sustainable supply chain management
Economic integration and infrastructure connectivity among countries has garnered significant interest due to its immense scale and potential political and economic impact. Special economic zones (SEZ), energy projects, and sustainable infrastructure are influential catalysts that have the potential to boost economic stability and promote growth through the execution of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) practices and adoption of a friendly approach to glocalization. However, literature on Supply Chain Management has provided limited coverage on this phenomenon. This research investigates the potential of SEZs, energy projects, sustainable infrastructure as key drivers for building economic resilience. It also examines the mediating role of SSCM and glocalization. Data was gathered from participants who were knowledgeable about the economic landscape and engaged in activities related to SEZs, sustainable infrastructure, and energy projects through a questionnaire. The study employed structural equation modeling (SEM) technique to investigate the hypothesis and examine the mediating role. The study findings indicate that SEZ establishments foster economic resilience by attracting foreign investment, promoting industrial diversification, and facilitating technology transfer. Energy projects, including development of renewable energy sources and energy infrastructure, enhance energy security and mitigate potential risks associated with energy scarcity. Through effective supply chain management, responsible sourcing, green logistics, and waste reduction, economic resilience can be bolstered. Also, glocalization, which seeks to reconcile global and local viewpoints, plays a vital role in ensuring economic stability. Multinational companies’ coordination mechanism for extending corporate social responsibility to Chinese suppliers
From the global supply chain perspective, this research explores how multinational companies (MNCs) can extend corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices to emerging countries such as China. A two-stage supply chain game model consisting of a Chinese supplier and a MNC is constructed. The study finds that an increase in the level of the Chinese supplier's CSR increases the product demand and the stakeholders' economic profits, but reduces the supplier's economic return; the product demand and the stakeholders' benefits increase along with the product green degree improvement, but the changes in the Chinese supplier's economic profits are jointly affected by the level of CSR and green production efficiency. The supply chain coordination can be achieved based on a revenue sharing contract. Finally, the effects of revenue sharing fraction and supplier's CRS level on product green degree, supplier's revenue and MNC's earnings are discussed by numerical simulation
Responsibility disengagement or sharing? Cooperative fulfilling mechanism of solid waste management in the remanufacturing supply chain
Due to limited resources and meager profits, collectors have insufficient motivation to fulfill their responsibilities, resulting in severe secondary pollution in the recycling process. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on the interests of collectors to motivate them to fulfill their solid waste management (SWM) responsibilities better. This paper focuses on remanufacturers’ altruistic behavior in the context of collectors’ compliance. Based on the Stackelberg game method, this paper constructs decision-making models for remanufacturers concerned or not concerned about the interests of collectors and compares the optimal decision-making outcomes of each model. The study finds that (1) based on remanufacturers’ altruistic concerns, a coordination mechanism for sharing responsibility-fulfilling costs for collectors can motivate them to fulfill their responsibilities and improve the performance of the remanufacturing supply chain. (2) The proportion of the remanufacturer’s share of the responsibility cost for the collector should not be too low, which is not conducive to encouraging the collector to fulfill the responsibility. However, the sharing proportion should not be too high, as this will increase the burden on the remanufacturer. This paper demonstrates the applicability of remanufacturers to moderately share responsibility costs for collectors to incentivize collectors to fulfill their responsibilities. The findings bridge the gap in research on SWM in remanufacturing supply chains. The management insights from this paper are expected to help remanufacturing supply chain companies establish a reuse behavior model that addresses the challenges that SWM faces to improve remanufacturing supply chain performance
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
