This dissertation analyzes the missiology of T. G. John Sullivan, executive director-treasurer of the Florida Baptist State Convention since 1989, and provides implications of his missiology on contemporary Southern Baptist State Convention work. Chapter 1 introduces the need for this dissertation and provides the thesis, background, methodology, and limitations of the dissertation. Chapter 2 provides a brief biography of the life of T. G. John Sullivan. Sullivan was born on October 20, 1936, in Ansted, West Virginia. His early life, conversion and call to ministry, education, pastorates, and denominational work at the state and national levels are highlighted. Chapter 3 provides the biblical and theological foundations of T. G. John Sullivan. Sullivan's views of the Bible and his beliefs about God, the condition of man, and the atoning work of Christ are examined. Also presented are his beliefs about salvation, the Christian life, and doctrine of the church. Chapter 4 presents the missiology of T. G. John Sullivan and the practical application of that missiology in Sullivan's understanding of the Great Commission. The chapter presents a discussion of Sullivan's priorities of evangelism, church planting, and church health in the context of his views on church growth principles, cooperation, and partnership missions. Chapter 5 gives the implications of Sullivan's missiology on contemporary Southern Baptist state convention work. Special attention is given to the implications of the future of state convention work in light of the Great Commission Resurgence and the Imagine If . . . Great Commission Resurgence Task Force. Chapter 6 draws conclusions from the previous chapters. The conclusion provides a model of emphases of state convention work that will accomplish a Great Commission Resurgence among Southern Baptist churches

Public Health in East and Southeast Asia: Challenges and Opportunities in the Twenty-First Century
“This volume is unique in its comprehensive investigation of the changing face of public health in East and Southeast Asia. The region’s countries have experienced major challenges resulting from colonialism, conflicts, economic and technological development, varying levels of government stability, widening disparities between social classes, uneven distribution of wealth, emerging epidemics, chronic diseases, occupational hazards, and changing health services. All of these issues are ably addressed by the authors, firsthand experts in their respective countries and fields. With its useful summaries and wealth of international sources, it will be an excellent resource for scholars and practitioners seeking an introduction to the region’s complex context and development.” Chitr Sitthi-amorn, former president, International Epidemiological AssociationPublic Health in East and Southeast Asia presents an overview of the state of public health across this vast region and considers the challenges and prospects for its future advancement. It pays particular attention to how rapid economic progress has brought accelerated change, both demographic and epidemiological, to an area already marked by great heterogeneity in health status and public health systems. In comparative and thematically oriented chapters, leading scholars consider such issues as changes in values and lifestyles, infectious diseases, nutrition, tobacco, chronic diseases, accidents and injury, environmental health, occupational health, the effect of globalization, and health services.Roger Detels is Distinguished Professor of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases and Chair of Epidemiology at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is the former president of the International Epidemiological Association. Sheena G. Sullivan is an epidemiologist at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Influenza and was previously with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Chorh Chuan Tan is President of the National University of Singapore and was previously the Director of Medical Services in Singapore’s Ministry of Health, in which capacity he was responsible for the medical response to the SARS epidemic in 2003.Contributors: Rajesh Bhatia, Chien-Jen Chen, Wen-Ta Chiu, Roger Detels, Binh Y. Conservation is sexy! What makes this so, and what does this make? An engagement with celebrity and the environment
This essay offers an engagement with Daniel Brockington’s (2009) recent book Celebrity and the environment. I highlight the book’s contribution to debate regarding processes of human displacement arising through biodiversity
conservation under conditions of neoliberal capitalism. I fi rst situate the book in relation to contemporary
perspectives on displacement, justice, and human rights, using examples to illustrate complex and dynamic patterns
of conservation inclusions and exclusions globally. This is followed by a summary of Brockington’s typology of
conservation celebrities, and of the ways in which celebrities assist with the amassing of conservation finance. I proceed to consider the roles of a celebrity-saturated mass media (and mediated) ‘spectacle of conservation’ in structuring social and consumptive engagements with the ‘non-human’ world globally. I draw attention to how diverse peoples in conservation landscapes might become part of the spectacle of conservation by reconfiguring themselves as cultural objects of touristic consumerism in a script not necessarily of their choosing. By way of acknowledging the significance of social networks and alliances in infl uencing conservation perspectives and
practice, I close with a disclaimer regarding my own long-term collaborations with the author of Celebrity and
the environment

Some Observations on the Construction of Space in the Prose of W. G. Sebald
Pierwodruk: „Białostockie Studia Literaturoznawcze” 2016, nr 8.This essay discusses the relationship between how space is constructed in the works of W. G. Sebald, and a fundamental characteristic of his texts, namely their hybridity. The author focuses, in particular, on the function of photography in Sebald’s narrations. Photographs, though themselves iconographic signs with strong referentiality, do not eliminate a strong textualization of space in Sebald’s works.Katedra Teorii Literatury, Uniwersytet Łódzki814115
Ornamento criminale.
