Political Reformation and its Impact on Library And Information Science Education And Practice: A Case Study Of Indonesia During And Post-President-Soeharto Administration
The author discusses library and information science education before and after 1998, the year President Soeharto stepped down. Before 1998, the government centralized policy making. For LIS education, the Ministry of Education through the Directorate General of Higher Education (DGHE), issued
a nation-wide curriculum for sarjana or undergraduate programmes, leaving little space for LIS schools to establish additional courses. After 1998, the Directorate General of Higher Education issued minimum requirements for LIS schools with the remaining credit hours to be decided by each institution. Also before 1998, DGHE issued permission to open new LIS schools after reviewing the submitted proposals. Post 1998, any university could open undergraduate and graduate programmes in LIS without
DGHE permission even though not all academic requirements are fulfilled. However, LIS schools must be supervised for two years after their programmes begin by an accrediting agency. The centralised policy also influenced course content
STUDI TERHADAP PEMIKIRAN SULISTYO BASUKI MENGENAI ILMU PERPUSTAKAAN DI INDONESIA

Penelitian ini merupakan studi pemikiran tokoh dengan subjek penelitiannya
adalah Sulistyo Basuki. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui
pemikiran, kontribusi , dan tren pemikiran Sulistyo Basuki mengenai ilmu
perpustakaan di Indonesia.
Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan
deskriptif. Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah penelitian kajian pustaka atau library
research, yaitu menggunakan bahan pustaka sebagai bahan primer berupa karyakarya
Sulistyo Basuki sebagai objek kajian. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah
metode analisis isi atau content analysis dengan tahapan mengumpulkan sumber
primer, mengklasifikasi berdasarkan pemetaan tekstual, kemudian menganalisis
dengan memberi interpretasi melalui pemahaman teks untuk menemukan arah
pemikiran secara keseluruhan.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1. Pemikiran Sulistyo Basuki
mengenai ilmu perpustakaan di Indonesia meliputi; ilmu perpustakaan dari sudut
filosofis, konsep jaringan dan kerjasama perpustakaan, perkembangan pendidikan
ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi, penggunaan nama-nama Indonesia dalam
penentuan tajuk entri, kajian informetrika dan sejarah perpustakaan Indonesia. 2.
Tren pemikiran Sulistyo Basuki merupakan corak pemikiran logika lateral yang
dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal dan ekternal. Faktor internal tercermin dari kajian
informetrika dan sejarah perpustakaan. Sedangkan faktor ekternal tercermin dari
berbagai tema generalis dalam ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi di Indoensia. 3.
Kontribusi Sulistyo Basuki dalam Ilmu Perpustakaan di Indoensia berupa
membumikan kajian informetrika dan sejarah perpustakaan di Indonesia, perintis
program studi pascasarjana Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi di Indonesia,
berkontribusi sebagai chief editor, pencetus istilah GMD sebagai Goretan Materi
Deskripsi, mengusulkan notasi bahasa-bahasa Indonesia ke dalam DDC edisi 23.
Berhubung penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang masih bersifat
komprehensif, sehingga masih banyak peluang untuk mengkaji pemikiran
Sulistyo Basuki. Misalnya, dalam fokus kajian informetrika atau sejarah
perpustakaan di Indonesia. Hasilnya akan menambah suatu kajian baru karena di
Indonesia masih sangat sedikit peneliti yang tertarik untuk melakukan kajian studi
tokoh dalam bidang ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi
KONTRIBUSI SULISTYO-BASUKI DALAM PERKEMBANGAN PENDIDIKAN ILMU PERPUSTAKAAN DI INDONESIA
The aim of this study is to know: 1) the development of library science programe
in Indonesia, 2) the contribution of Sulistyo-Basuki in the development of library
science programe in Indonesia, 3) the impact of Sulistyo-Basuki contribution in
the development of library science programe in this era. This research focused on\ud
the Sulistyo-Basuki contribution in library and information science. In this case
used qualitative reseach that concern with library research and the approach is
sociology approach namely social contribution theory. The technique of collecting
data used documentation and interview (random). Mean while the technique of
analysis data used interactive model by Miles and Huberman that consist of three
steps: data reduction, display data, and conclution drawing/verivication. Based on
this research, there are three conclutions: (1) library sciecne programe in
Indonesia that start from course activity, and becomes formal education in the
college, either academic program or first/post graduate. Commonly, the
development of library science program in Indonesia devided to three periodes,
first: the between of 1952-1969 periode, second: 1969-1982 periode, the last:
after 1982 periode. (2) the contribution which given by Sulistyo-Basuki in the
development of library scinece programe in Indonesia can be seen from three
aspects, namely based on the work produced, based on the activities in various
scientific activities which have been followed, and based on the policy ever done
for library education in Indonesia. (3) there is the impact of Sulistyo-Basuki
contribution in library science in Indonesia either directly or indirectly to the
world of library such as the appear of science experts, from various scientific
perspectives, the development of library science in various universities in
Indonesia, the curriculum that is taught in several department of library science in Indonesia
have similarity, the differentiation in some program of library science, and the inclusion of
bibliometrics and informetrika studies into compulsory subjects in several courses
of library science both undergraduate (S1) and master (S2)
