    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

    Sistem propulsi elektrik adalah sistem pada wahana bawah air yang menggunakan motor listrik sebagai mesin penggerak menggantikan posisi atau kinerja dari mesin utama. Penggunaan mesin diesel sebagai tenaga penggerak baling baling memiliki beberapa permasalahan dan kelemahan yaitu mesin diesel tidak dapat beroperasi pada saat wahana bawah air sedang beroperasi di bawah permukaan air laut. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut diperlukan alternatif sebagai penggerak wahana bawah air. Alternatif tersebut menggunakan motor DC. Wahana bawah air menggunakan sistem propulsi elektrik dengan motor DC karena motor DC memiliki kelebihan pengaturan putaran yang mudah dilakukan dan tidak menimbulkan kebisingan pada saat wahana bawah air sedang menyelam. Penulisan skripsi ini akan mengkaji penggunaan motor DC sebagai sistem propulsi elektrik pada wahana bawah air yang memiliki panjang 59.7 m. Rangkaian sistem propulsi yang digunakan berupa 2 buah motor DC yang disusun secara seri dan dicatu daya berupa baterai dan generator. Rangkaian sistem propulsi yang dikaji adalah menggunakan ohmformer dan tanpa menggunakan ohmformer. Selanjutnya rangkaian tersebut disimulasikan menggunakan software MATLAB. Kemudian data hasil simulasi adalah putaran dan torsi. Hasil yang diperoleh pada rangkaian menggunakan ohmformer adalah nilai kecepatan dan daya wahana bawah air mencapai nilai yang lebih besar dibandingkan rangkaian tanpa menggunakan ohmformer. Hal ini dikarenakan rangkaian menggunakan ohmformer yang dicatu daya oleh generator dapat mengontrol tegangan masuk ke motor DC penggerak utama. Sedangkan rangkaian tanpa menggunakan ohmformer mempunyai nilai tegangan tetap dari baterai. Selanjutnya rangkaian menggunakan ohmformer dapat digunakan untuk kecepatan silent run, sailing run (jelajah) dan pengejaran. Kemudian rangkaian tanpa menggunakan ohmformer dapat digunakan untuk kecepatan sailing run (jelajah). ====================================================================================================== Electric propulsion system is the ship propulsion system using electric motor to replace performance of main engine. The application of diesel engine as propulsion system have some problems and weaknesses such as diesel engine is not able to operate when submersible ship at submerge condition. To overcome that problems in submersible ship, alternative solution of ship propulsion is required. DC motor can be used as this alternative solution. Submersible ships use DC motor as electric propulsion system because DC motor has advantages of speed control and does not make noise when submersible ship at submerge condition. This thesis will review the application of DC motor as electric propulsion system on submersible ship with length 59,7 meters. Design of electric propulsion system are using two DC motor which connected in series. Battery and generator as it’s power supply. Design of electric propulsion system will be reviewed there are using ohmformer dan without using ohmformer. Next, that’s design will be simulated using MATLAB. Then result of simulaton are speed / rotation and torque. The result of design using ohmformer are value of speed and power greater than without using ohmformer. Because of using ohmformer can control input voltage of DC motor which generator as it’s power supply. While, design of without using ohmformer has constant input voltage which battery as it’s power supply. Next, design of using ohmformer can be used for silent run (low speed), sailing run (medium speed) and quick run (high speed). Then design of without using ohmformer can be used for sailing run (medium speed)

    Uji korelasi Pearson Correlation kepada pengaruh diterapkannya kurikulum merdeka yang berdampak pada motivasi belajar literasi peserta didik dengan nilai r adalah 0,395 bahwa hal tersebut mengartikan adanya hubungan pengaruh terhadap kedua variabel dengan interpretasi yang rendah pengaruh diterapkannya kurikulum ini terhadap motivasi belajar literasi dengan membandingkan nila r hitung > r tabel. Lalu nilai r hitung 0,395 > r tabel 0,294 dengan df=N-k nilai distribusi 43, dari hasil itu diketahui adanya nilai r hitung lebih besar daripada r tabel maka dari itu hipotesis nihil (H0) yang menerangkan tidak ada hubungan pengaruh penerapan kurikulum merdeka belajar terhadap motivasi belajar literasi ditolak dan (H1) diterima yang menerangkan ada hubungan korelasi penerapan kurikulum merdeka terhadap motivasi belajar literasi. Pada uji korelasi Pearson Correlation pengaruh penerapan kurikulum merdeka terhadap motivasi belajar numerasi dengan nilai r hitung adalah 0,410 yang menerangkan bahwa ada korelasi dengan kategori cukup tinggi tentang penerapan kurikulum merdeka terhadap motivasi belajar numerasi. Kemudian nilai r hitung 0,410 > r tabel 0,294 dengan df=N-k nilai distribusi 43, dari hasil itu diketahui adanya nilai r hitung lebih besar daripada r tabel maka hipotesis nihil (H0) bahwa tidak ada pengaruh penerapan kurikulum merdeka terhadap motivasi belajar numerasi ditolak dan (H1) diterima, hal itu menunjukkan adanya korelasi penerapan kurikulum merdeka terhadap motivasi belajar numerasi
