    The Nandi tribe resisted European colonisation in Western Kenya until the 1905 when the last British military campaign against them took place. At the beginning of the expedition, the spiritual and religious Nandi leader, orkoiyot Koitalel arap Samoi, was killed by Captain Richard Meinertzhagen. This work describes carefully the three trials which occurred after the accident. On the basis of court proceedings and Meinertzhagen’s diaries, the paper tries to ascertain the most probable course of events and who killed the orkoiyot. Furthermore, the author aims to establish whether Meinertzhagen was acting on his own or received an informal order from the commanders of the campaign. Finally, the article presents the political and military organisation of Nandi, their pre-colonial history and the political role of the orkoiyot in the tribe

    SCIENTOMETRIC DIMENSIONS OF RESEARCH PRODUCTIVITY OF THE BOTANY DEPARTMENT, DURING 1960-2000.

    Bibliometric analysis for 160 theses and 739 thesis articles collected from the Botany Department at The University of Burdwan in eight subdivisions of Botany during 1960-2000 has been carried out to determine year wise productivity, authorship pattern and collaboration. The study has identified that the highest number of thesis submission was 40 during 1981-1985 and the highest number of article submission was 189 during 1976-1980. The highest 22 number of theses were guided by Balen Nandi. Authorship trend is towards multiauthored papers. The Degree of Collaboration is 0.70. The most prolific author was M.A Choudhuri who topped the list with 54 papers during the period 1960-2000 followed by A Mukherjee with 48 publications, P.S Basu with 31 publications, K Gupta with 30 publications and B Nandi, with 27 publications. Among the top ranking journals publishing the papers are from India with 373 (50.47 %) publications followed by Germany with 61(8.29 %) publications, China with 53(7.17 %) publications and Netherlands with 45(6.09 %) publications

    Dynamic amplifiers for analog-to-digital converters

    Advances in CMOS technologies have brought benefits to both digital and analog integrated circuits. However, lower output impedance and reduced supply voltage have also caused newer challenges, especially for the design of operational amplifiers (op-amps) to implement gain. In this dissertation, dynamic/latch-based/regenerative amplifiers are explored where interrupted regeneration is used to implement the gain function. First, a 6-b current-domain interpolating pipelined flash analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is presented, where a novel current-shape-amplifier (CSA) based on a simple dynamic latch stage with interrupted regeneration is used to achieve 16 X interpolation factor using four interpolating stages. Thanks to this larger interpolation factor, ADC input capacitance is greatly reduced, which significantly eases the design of ADC driver circuits. The reduction in ADC throughput that accompanies classical interpolation methods is overcome by pipelining the proposed CSA-based interpolating stages. Fabricated in a 65 nm CMOS process, the prototype ADC consumes 43.8 mW at 1/1.25 V supply and achieves 26.8 dB signal-to-noise and distortion ratio (SNDR) and 35.2 dB spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) at 4 GS/s with a 2 GHz input. Second, a study is conducted and a fully digital technique is proposed to calibrate the offset of interpolating flash ADCs. Compared to the state-of-the-art, this technique requires fewer comparators and needs fewer sets of input differential pairs. Offset cancellation is achieved by switching references (only during calibration) without extra loading at the input or the clock generator circuitry. The efficacy of this technique is demonstrated by simulating a 4 bit interpolating flash ADC which shows an effective number of bits (ENOB) improvement of 1.5 bits.     Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaturan penyadapan oleh penyidik dalam hukum positif di Indonesia dan bagaimana penyadapan oleh KPK dalam penyidikan tindak pidana korupsi berdasarkan Undang-Undang Nomor 30 Tahun 2002.  Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian yuridis normatif, disimpulkan: 1. Penyadapan oleh penyidik dalam hukum positif di Indonesia telah diatur dalam Undang-Undang Psikotropika, Undang-Undang Pemberantasan Perdagangan Orang, Undang-Undang Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik, Undang-Undang Pencucian Uang, Undang-Undang Intelijen Negara, dan Peraturan Kepolisian tentang Tata Cara Penyadapan Pada Pusat Pemantauan Kepolisian Negara Republik Indonesia. Namun belum ada kesamaan tentang tata cara dan prosedur penyadapan oleh penyidik dalam rangka penyidikan. Hanya Undang-Undang Narkotika yang sudah cukup komprehensif atau lengkap mengatur tentang prosedur dan tata cara penyadapan oleh penyidik dalam rangka penyidikan. 2. Penyadapan oleh KPK dalam penyidikan tindak pidana korupsi berdasarkan Undang-Undang Nomor 30 Tahun 2002 dilakukan terhadap orang yang diduga keras telah melakukan tindak pidana korupsi atau terhadap orang-orang yang dianggap dapat membuat terang suatu tindak pidana korupsi atau terhadap mereka yang diduga terlibat dalam suatu tindak pidana korupsi.Kata kunci: Penyadapan, Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi, Penyidikan Tindak Pidana Korups

    Pricing the CBOE VIX Futures with the Heston-Nandi GARCH Model

    We propose a closed-form pricing formula for the Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility Index (CBOE VIX) futures based on the classic discrete-time Heston-Nandi GARCH model. The parameters are estimated using several sets of data, including the S&P 500 returns, the CBOE VIX, VIX futures prices and combinations of these data sources. Based on the resulting empirical pricing performances, we recommend the use of both VIX and VIX futures prices for a joint estimation of model parameters. Such estimation method can effectively capture the variations of the market VIX and the VIX futures prices simultaneously for both in-sample and out-of-sample analysis.     Abstrak: Kemasan berfungsi sebagai pelindung produk dari kerusakan lingkungan, menjaga kualitas dari produk serta menjadi media informasi mengenai produk. Perlu memperhatikan tingkat kesesuaian produk, aspek kesehatan dan perlindungan kemasan terhadap produk. Daging merupakan komoditi yang penting untuk Kesehatan akan tetapi mudah mengalami kerusakan mikrobiologi. Sebagian masyarakat masih banyak yang menyimpan bahan pangan seperti daging segar dengan mengandalkan plastik dari tempat belanja dan menyimpannya dalam lemari pendingin atau freezer tanpa memperhatikan kecocokkan dan keamanan kemasan yang digunakan. Oleh karena itu perlu adanya pengetahuan mengenai pengemasan food grade pada masyarakat. Mitra pengabdian adalah Majelis Taklim Ummahatul Movement dengan melibatkan 20 orang peserta karena masih dalam masa pandemi. Topik ini menjadi pengetahuan yang tepat untuk diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Komunikasi antara mitra dan pelaksana menggunakan aplikasi Whatsapp, Zoom Meeting dan Trello sebagai tempat pengumpulan informasi. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan post-test menunjukan pemahaman mitra terhadap kemasan berstandar food grade meningkat menjadi lebih dari 85 % setelah diadakan workshop pengemasan daging dan produk olahannya.Abstract : Packaging functions as a product protector from environmental damage, maintains the quality of the product and becomes a medium of information about the product. It is necessary to pay attention to the level of product suitability, health aspects and packaging protection of the product. Meat is an important commodity for health, but it is susceptible to microbiological damage. Some people still store food ingredients such as fresh meat by relying on plastic from shopping places and store them in the refrigerator or freezer without paying attention to the suitability and safety of the packaging used. Therefore it is necessary to have knowledge about food grade packaging in the community. The service partner is Majelis Taklim Ummahatul Movement involving 20 participants because it is still in the pandemic period. This topic becomes the right knowledge to be applied in everyday life. Communication between partners and implementers uses the Whatsapp, Zoom Meeting and Trello applications as a place to collect information.
