Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Get PDFIstilah yang digunakan dalam Tata Bahasa Baku Bahasa Indonesia untuk menyebut pembentukan kategori kata yang satu dari kategori kata yang lain adalah turunan dan penurunan. Misalnya, Verba turunan (1993:108) dan Proses Penurunan Verba (1993:109). Penyebutan itu tidak jelas apakah verba turunan itu (misalnya: beli membeli) bersifat infleksi atau derivasi. Hal itu juga belum tampak pada kategori kata lainnya seperti nomina, adjektiva, dan lain-lain; apalagi dalam proses morfologi perulangan dan pemajemukan. Dengan alasan itu, penelitian ini mencoba merintis prespektif baru studi morfologi BI berdasarkan perspektif derivasi dan infleksi dengan tujuan menambah khasanah tentang pendeskripsian morfologi bahasa Indonesia. Pemerian morfologi derivasional dan infleksional terhadap proses afiksasi telah dilakukan pada tahap pertama, dan penelitian ini difokuskan terhadap proses pemajemukan dan perulangan.
Konsep derivasi dan infleksi tidak dapat dipisahkan dari konsep leksem. Infleksi pada dasarnya pembentukan yang menghasilkan bentuk-bentuk kata berbeda dari leksem yang sama, sedangkan derivasi adalah pembentukan yang menghasilkan leksem baru. Peran leksem sendiri sedikit banyak akan berpengaruh terhadap penyusunan entre dalam pembuatan kamus.
Data penelitian ini ialah semua tuturan (baca: kalimat) yang terdapat dalam sumber data yang di dalamnya terdapat kata majemuk dan kata ulang. Hadirnya konteks kalimat di sini sangat penting karena makna kata majemuk dan kata ulang hanya dapat dipahami secara tepat manakala ditempatkan dalam konteks kalimat. Sumber data yang dipilih ialah pemakaian bahasa yang mencerminkan sifat kebakuan. Pemakaian bahasa demikian pada umumnya terdapat pada pemakaian yang bersifat formal, baik pada pemakaian lisan maupun tulis. Dalam ragam tulis: buku teks/pelajaran, karya tulis, surat kabar. Dari ragam lisan diperoleh dari pidato, berita-berita radio atau televisi, maupun data yang dibangkitkan dari narasumber. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dipakai yakni pengamatan atau observasi. Peneliti membaca dan mengamati teks dalam sumber data. Setiap kalimat yang di dalamnya terdapat kata majemuk atau kata ulang ditandai. Teknik berikutnya ialah teknik simak dan catat.
Ditemukan dalam penelitian ini semua pembentukan menjadi kata majemuk merupakan proses derivasional karena membentuk leksem baru yang ditandai oleh perbedaan identitas leksikal maupun arti leksikal dari unsur-unsur pembentuknya. Namun demikian ciri arti maupun identitas baru leksikal baru ini masih dapat ditelusuri asal mulanya. Jika tidak dapat ditelusuri asal mula identitas leksikal baru itu tidak lagi dimasukkan dalam kata majemuk, tetapi sudah merupakan struktur beku yang disebut idiom. Idiom tidak dimasukkan dalam analisis ini walaupun mempunyai kemungkinan memiliki kemiripan struktur dengan kata majemuk (komposisi). Pada umumnya kata majemuk terdiri dari dua anggota. Oleh karenanya, ada yang mengatakan bahwa terdapat pola kata majemuk D-M atau M-D. Namun, dalam perkembangannya dewasa ini, dapat ditemukan kata majemuk yang anggotanya lebih dari dua. Yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini kata majemuk yang terdiri dari lebih dari dua anggota merupakan perkembangan dari sistem nama (lembaga, jabatan, pangkat), atau deretan kata yang menjadi singkatan (akronim). Mereka termasuk kategori Nom dan sebagian berkategori V.
Kata majemuk Nom dapat dapat diawali dengan Nom berpola Nom + Nom, Nom + V, Nom + Adj, Nom + Num; dapat diawali dengan V berpola V + Nom, V + V, V + Adj, V + Num; dapat diawali dengan Adj berpola Adj + Nom, Adj + V, Adj + Adj; dan diawali Num dengan pola Num + Nom. Dengan pola-pola ini dapat diketahui bahwa kata majemuk berkategori Nom bisa saja dibentuk atas kategori lain (tanpa melibatkan Nom). Umumnya kata majemuk kategori V dibentuk dengan melibatkan V sebagai anggota pertama, yakni dengan pola V + Nom, V + V, V + Adj, dan V + Num. Atau V sebagai anggota kedua dengan pola Nom + V (hilir mudik) dengan data terbatas. Selain itu majemuk V dibentuk dari Adj + Nom (sakit jiwa, lepas landas) dalam konteks tertentu. Kata majemuk kategori Adj selalu melibatkan Adj sebagai unsurnya. Mereka berpola Adj +Adj, Adj + Nom, Adj + V, dan Nom + Adj. Beberapa pola juga ditemukan pembentukan kata majemuk berkategori Adv yang selalu melibatkan Adv. Beberapa kata majemuk tertentu dimungkinkan mempunyai keanggotaan/kategori ganda, namun konteks sangat menentukan kekategoriannya itu.
Infleksional dan derivasional terjadi pada proses perulangan. Proses perulangan infleksional terjadi pada semua kategori. Pada umumnya, infleksional juga hanya terjadi pada perulangan utuh (dwilingga), kecuali pada kategori V. Proses infleksi perulangan pada V terjadi dari bentuk dasar D (dwilingga), dari bentuk dasar ber-D, bentuk dasar ber-D-an, dari bentuk dasar meng-D, dari bentuk dasar meng-D-i, dari bentuk dasar meng-D-kan, dan dari bentuk dasar memper-D-kan. Proses reduplikasi Nom yang termasuk infleksional menyatakan ‗banyak dan beragam‘. Hal itu bersifat teratur terhadap semua Nom, termasuk Nom yang sudah mengalami proses morfologi sebelum perulangan (seperti: perusahaan-perusahaan, rumah sakit-rumah sakit, kaca mata-kaca mata). Perubahan arti leksikal dari ‗banyak dan beragam‘ pada Nom ulang dalam konteks tertentu dapat digolongkan ke dalam proses derivasional. Verba-verba ulang yang termasuk dalam proses infleksional menyatakan ‗pluralitas/keberkali-kalian atau kontinuitas/terus-menerus dengan keragaman irama‘. Pengulangan infleksional dari bentuk dasar Adj menghasilkan makna ‗semua/banyak dan beragam‘. Pengulangan infleksional dari bentuk dasar Num menghasilkan makna ‗setiap kelompok terdiri dari/mendapat D‘. Pengulangan infleksional dari bentuk dasar Adv menghasilkan makna ‗keberkali-kalian/pluralitas‘. Ciri-ciri arti yang dihasilkan tersebut bersifat teratur dan dapat diramalkan. Selain menyatakan ciri arti tersebut, perulangan bersifat derivasional.
Perubahan derivasional perulangan terjadi dalam semua kategori bentuk dasar dan bersifat tidak dapat diramalkan. Perulangan derivasional pada Nom bertipe D-D, D-D-an, dwipurwa-D-an, dwipuwa, dwilingga dengan perubahan vokal akhir, dwilingga dengan variasi konsonan/vokal, dwilingga dengan variasi afiks {-em-}. Perulangan derivasional pada V terjadi pada V D dengan variasi afiks meng- ‗saling D‘, V D dengan variasi afiks meng- ‗perihal‘, V D-i dengan variasi afiks meng- ‗saling D-i‘, V D utuh, V D dengan variasi vokal, dan V D dengan variasi afiks {–em-}. Perulangan derivasional pada Adj terjadi pada Adj D utuh, Adj D dwipurwa, Adj D dengan variasi vokal/konsonan. Perulangan derivasional pada Num terjadi pada Num D utuh

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
