A Comparative Study of Human Dried Blood Spot and Conventional Plasma-Based Bioanalytical Methods Using Lc-Ms/Ms.
Introduction: The conventional blood collection and analysis process has been made quicker by the use of DBS technology in the fields of therapeutics and health sciences. For pharmacokinetic and toxicokinetic investigations, DBS is expected to be a viable substitute for well-established liquid bio methods and potentially even outperform them provided if it comparable to conventional human plasma bioanalytical method.
Objectives: The purpose of this comparison study was to compare validated dried blood spot (DBS) method with traditional gold standard human plasma method for determining Remdesivir using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The comparison should be using both statistical and graphical approaches to nullify bias.
Methods: An electrospray ionization source with multiple reaction monitoring was used on a Thermo Fisher Scientific Accela HPLC system with a TSQ ENDURA mass spectrometer. DBS extraction method involve use of Whatman 903 paper whereas human plasma method involves protein precipitation. Statistical analyses for method comparison included Bland-Altman and paired t-tests. Box-and-whisker plots and Scatter plots with Deming regression were used in the graphical evaluations.
Results: Both methods were validated according to the ICH M10 guidelines. The graphical and statistical comparison revealed that the DBS approach works within acceptable limits when compared to the human plasma method.
Conclusions: Both methods were effectively examined and compared throughout a linearity range of 50-5000 ng/mL. The validated DBS method for Remdesivir is a strong and dependable alternative to traditional plasma-based sampling. Because of its minimal invasive nature, the DBS technique is ideal for clinical and therapeutic drug monitoring applications
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. GREEN REVERSE-PHASE – HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY APPROACH FOR STABILITY-INDICATING SIMULTANEOUS QUANTIFICATION OF DORAVIRINE, LAMIVUDINE, AND TENOFOVIR IN BULK AND DOSAGE FORMS
Objective: A simple, accurate, and validated reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of doravirine, lamivudine, and tenofovir in pharmaceutical formulations.
Methods: Chromatographic separation was achieved using a Zorbax Eclipse Plus C18 column (2.1×150 mm, 5 μm) with a mobile phase composed of 0.01 M potassium phosphate buffer (pH adjusted with orthophosphoric acid) and HPLC-grade acetonitrile, delivered at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. Detection was performed at 244 nm.
Results: The method yielded sharp, well-resolved peaks with retention times of 2.195 min for doravirine, 2.715 min for lamivudine, and 3.676 min for tenofovir. A peak resolution of 4.4 confirmed efficient separation. The method exhibited excellent linearity with a correlation coefficient (R²) of 0.9999 across concentration ranges of 2.515 μg/mL for doravirine and 7.545 μg/mL for both lamivudine and tenofovir. Accuracy was confirmed through recovery studies, yielding 100.02% for doravirine, 100.09% for lamivudine, and 99.98% for tenofovir. The method also demonstrated high sensitivity, with limits of detection of 0.01 μg/mL for doravirine and 0.11 μg/mL for both lamivudine and tenofovir. The respective limits of quantification were 0.04 μg/mL, 0.32 μg/mL, and 0.34 μg/mL. The regression equations derived were as follows: y=30936x +3374.3 for doravirine, y=29559x+889.66 for lamivudine, and y=29768x+3035.2 for tenofovir.
Conclusion: In addition to its strong analytical performance, the method was evaluated using the AGREE metric for green analytical chemistry compliance. Despite the use of acetonitrile, it achieved an AGREE score of 0.73, indicating good environmental compatibility due to minimal solvent consumption, energy efficiency, and avoidance of derivatization. This method – with its short runtime, high accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and environmentally responsible design – is highly suitable for routine quality control and stability studies of antiretroviral pharmaceutical formulations
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
