Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Hubungan Derajat Miopia dengan Tekanan Intraokuler pada Pasien di RS Mata Prima Vision Medan
Myopia is one of the most common refractive errors found in the community and has become a major cause of visual impairment and blindness worldwide. The degree of myopia may influence intraocular pressure (IOP), which is a major risk factor for glaucoma. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the degree of myopia and intraocular pressure among patients at Prima Vision Eye Hospital Medan. This research employed an analytical method with a cross-sectional design. The study sample consisted of 48 patients diagnosed with myopia who met the inclusion criteria. The degree of myopia was categorized based on refraction examination results, while IOP was measured using non-contact tonometry. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most respondents were aged 21–30 years (39.6%) and the majority were female (58.3%). Most patients had moderate myopia (47.9%). Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between the degree of myopia and intraocular pressure (p < 0.05). In conclusion, there is a significant correlation between the degree of myopia and intraocular pressure among patients at Prima Vision Eye Hospital Medan. It is recommended that patients with high myopia undergo regular eye examinations for early detection of increased IOP and glaucoma risk.

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
Effectiveness of Single Garlic Extract on Fatty Liver and Liver Enzymes in Rattus Norvegicus Wistar
This study investigated the hepatoprotective efficacy of ethanol-extracted single garlic (EEBPT) on fatty liver and hepatic enzymes in rats. A true experimental design with pretest-posttest control group approach was employed. Twenty-four male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) were randomly allocated into four groups: negative control (distilled water), positive control (simvastatin 2.1 mg/kg body weight), low-dose EEBPT (200 mg/kg body weight), and high-dose EEBPT (400 mg/kg body weight). All animals received high-fat diet supplementation for four weeks. Serum aspartate aminotransferase (SGOT/AST) and alanine aminotransferase (SGPT/ALT) were measured on days 0, 14, 21, and 28. Hepatic histopathology was assessed using hematoxylin and eosin staining. One-way ANOVA with Tukey post-hoc test and Kruskal-Wallis test were applied for statistical analysis (p<0.05). Results demonstrated that high-dose EEBPT significantly reduced SGOT and SGPT levels equivalent to simvastatin treatment and ameliorated hepatic steatosis, hepatocyte ballooning, and inflammatory infiltration. Ethanol-extracted single garlic at 400 mg/kg body weight exhibited hepatoprotective effects comparable to conventional statin therapy through antioxidative and anti-inflammatory mechanisms. Garlic extract represents a promising natural hepatoprotective agent for NAFLD managemen
Efektivitas Ekstrak Bawang Putih Tunggal Terhadap Gambaran Histopatologi Ginjal Dan Kadar Ureum Kreatinin Rattus Novergicus Yang Mengalami Dislipidemia
Heart disease and kidney failure are both increased by dyslipidemia. There are a lot of antioxidant and nephroprotective chemicals in just one clove of garlic (Allium sativum L.), including allicin, flavonoids, and organosulfur compounds. This study set out to examine the effects of a single garlic extract on the urea, creatinine, and uric acid levels in rats with dyslipidemia (Rattus norvegicus). There was an examination of the renal histopathology picture as well. This research used an experimental tack by using a control group design with pre- and post-tests. Each of the four groups consisted of 24 male Wistar rats' tails: the control group (aquades), the experimental group (simvastatin 2.1 mg/kgBB), the garlic extract alone group (200 mg/kgBB), and the highest dose (400 mg/kgBB). Each group followed a high-fat diet for a full month. Both the 200 mg/kgBB and 400 mg/kgBB doses of garlic extract significantly decreased the levels of ureum, creatinine, and uric acid (p<0.05) as compared to the negative control group. Kidney histopathology also revealed improvement, with less congestion, necrosis, and cell death. The positive control and the 400 mg/kgBB group showed similar effects after delivery. Rats with dyslipidemia showed improvements in renal histology and decreased levels of ureum, creatinine, and uric acid after administration of a single garlic extract.
