Expansion microscopy allows quantitative characterisation of structural organisation of platelet aggregates
Background: Current microscopy approaches applied to platelet aggregates from multiple settings indicate their structure has important implications in efficient haemostasis and in clinical treatment of thrombosis. However, current fluorescence microscopy approaches are not amenable to detailed volumetric imaging of platelet aggregate structures. This is due to the small size of individual platelets and tight packing of platelets within aggregates, resulting in optical opacity.Objectives: To address this, we investigated methods for performing super-resolution microscopy and image analysis on aggregates of platelets to describe their morphology.Methods: We applied expansion microscopy and custom analysis workflows to extract quantitative information on the structure of platelet aggregates.Results: We demonstrate that expansion microscopy applied to platelet aggregates, reveals multi-scale information about their structure. We produced volumetric images at nanoscale resolution of >700 platelet aggregates stained for cytoskeletal and membrane components under normal conditions and following cytoskeletal disruption. We demonstrate our custom analysis workflow provides quantitative description of platelet numbers, volumes and morphology within entire platelet aggregates. Additionally, we quantitatively describe subcellular organisation of F-actin. By comparing these measurements following treatment with the actin inhibitors, cytochalasin D and latrunculin A, we can robustly detect structural disruptions in platelet aggregates.Conclusions: Together these data provide a workflow to qualitatively and quantitatively describe the architecture of platelet aggregates at a range of scales (whole aggregates down to sub-cellular features within individual platelets). This provides an important tool for analysis of platelet aggregates and thrombi in conditions such as haemostasis, immunothrombosis and cardiovascular disease.</div

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to know about the style of understanding the concept of destiny employees of the Ministry of Religious Rejang Lebong. The work ethic of employees Ministry of Religious Rejang Lebong and how coherence between the understanding of destiny with the work ethic. Research conducted qualitative, with a phenomenological approach. Who became an informant as a data source is partially employee Rejang Lebong Religious Affairs totaling 25 people, consisting of the organization’s leaders, the heads of sections., Organizer and supervisor of the Islamic religion and the staff all of whom are Muslims. Then the research data were analyzed using analytical techniques deskriftik. In this study, the authors wanted to know and to describe, the following matters: First, the style of understanding the concept of destiny employees of the Ministry of Religious Rejang Lebong, author klsifikasikan to tigaa jabariah pattern that is moderate, that gives meaning to the concept of destiny will be the synergy between the absolute freedom of God with the power of human endeavor. In addition there are patterned qodariah, who interpret memaberikan broadest freedom to power and the power of man, and the last, patterned extreme jabariah, who interpret destiny is the prerogative of God, men did not take part in it, like a puppet-driven human puppeteer. Second, the Ministry of Religious Affairs Employees Work Ethic Rejang Lebong. The result shows that in general, his work ethic were high. With the following indicators: a). Employee attitudes toward work:1.Fleksibilitas while working 2. Adjustment of work b). Feelings of an employee: 1. Control 2. senag bekerja. c job). The willingness of the employees to do the job: 1. Compliance work, 2. Willingness to complete the work, d). employees currently work: 1. The seriousness of the work The third of the coherence between the understanding of the concept of destiny with the work ethic. From the data I have found the results, that there is a significant relationship between the understanding of religious ministry employees destiny Rejang Lebong with his work ethic. Broadly speaking, that employees who patterned jabariah moderate ideology and Qodariyah work ethic tends to be high, employees were shades of understanding destiny jabariah extreme work ethic tends to be low
PRINSIP DIFERENSIASI AL-QUR'AN PERSPEKTIF MUHAMMAD SHAHRUR
This research is a study of deconstruction carried out by Shahrur about key terms in the Qur'an. among them are al-Kita b, al-Quran, al-dhikr, Tafs} i l al-Kitab and al-Furqan which terms are often simply equated. Whereas for Shah{rur these terms have substantial differences, both in terms of their characteristics and content. The problem finally led Shah{rur to do a reconstruction of these themes.ShaḥrÅ«r argues that synonymity is merely a hoax in the sense that it can reduce concepts to each of the key terms in the Qur'an. Every word in the Qur'an will lose its content and depth. Therefore, by rejecting synonymity, ShaḥrÅ«r has explored the key terms above which turned out to be different from what is understood by the mainstream Muslim community so far. The author finds that one of the differentiations made by Shah{rur is related to the distinction between al-KitÄb and al-Qur'Än, ShaḥrÅ«r refers to verse tilka ayat al-kitab wa quranin mubinin. (Q.S al-Hijr : 1) The word qur'a n which is interpreted in the word al-Kitab indicates that between al-Kitab and al-qur'an are different. From the results of the study that has been done, the principle of ShaḥrÅ«r differentiation has brought implications and significance to the building of the science of the Qur'an. Among them are the concepts of i'jÄz, asbÄb al-NuzÅ«l, Muhkam-MutashÄbih, and interpretive methodologies in understanding each theme in the Qur'an, because of the content and content of different Qur'ans

An investigation of group IV alloys and their applications in bipolar transistors
This thesis investigates the use of carbon in group IV alloys and their potential uses in bipolar transistors. The first part of the thesis investigates the ability of carbon to suppress transient enhanced diffusion in SiGe heterojunction bipolar transistors, whilst the second part deals with the impact of carbon incorporation on the electrical properties of polycrystalline silicon and silicon-germanium films. A background doping concentration (10"2"0cm"-"3) of C has been introduced into the base of SiGe HBTs with the aim of studying the effects of C on TED of B from the base. An electrical method is used to extract the bandgap narrowing in the base of SiGe and SiGe:C HBTs through measurements of the temperature dependence of I_c at different C/B reverse biases. The method is very sensitive to small amounts of dopant out-diffusion from the base and hence is ideal for determining the effect of C on TED. Extracted BGN values of 115meV and 173meV were obtained for the SiGe and SiGe:C HBTs respectively, for a C/B reverse bias of 0V. Increasing the C/B reverse bias to 1V increased the extracted BGN of the SiGe HBT to 145meV, but left the SiGe:C value unchanged. This demonstrates that no parasitic energy barrier exists in the SiGe:C HBT and that TED has been suppressed. The effect of carbon position and concentration has been studied by introducing a peak C concentration of 10"2"0cm"-"3 in the collector and 1.1x10"1"9cm"-"3 or 1.5x10"1"9cm"-"3 C in the base. From these measurements it has been shown that TED is only suppressed in the device with 1.5x10"1"9cm"-"3 C in the base, indicating that a C concentration of 1.5x10"1"9cm"-"3 is needed to suppress TED and that the C needs to be co-located with the B profile. The effects of carbon on the electrical properties of polycrystalline Si and SiGe films have been investigated. The resistivity, Hall mobility (#mu#_H) and effective carrier concentration (N_E_F_F) of n- and p-type polySi_1_-_yC_y and polySi_0_._8_2_-_yGe_0_._1_8C_y layers have been measured for carbon contents between 0% and 8%. For the n-type polySi_1_-_yC_y and polySi_0_._8_2_-_yGe_0_._1_8C_y layers, the addition of small amounts of C (#<=# 0.9%) was found to severely increase the resistivity of the layers, caused by a drop in N_E_F_F and #mu#_H. In contrast, for the p-type polySi_1_-_yC_y and polySi_0_._8_2_-_yGe_0_._1_8C_y layers, the effect of C on the resistivity was much less dramatic for C concentrations up to 7.8%. Measurements of the grain boundary energy barriers for the n-type polySi_1_-_yC_y and polySi_0_._8_2_-_yGe_0_._1_8C_y layers, extracted from the temperature dependence of the resistivity, showed that there was a square law dependence on carbon content. This is consistent with carbon increasing the grain boundary trap density. In contrast, the grain boundary energy barriers in the p-type polySi_1_-_yC_y layers exhibited a linear dependence on carbon content. This behaviour of C in p-type layers has been attributed to a shift in the dominant trap energy level towards the valence band at high C concentrations. The development of education in Indonesia is currently faced with the moral problems of the nation's children. This study aims to provide constructive results for the national education system in terms of character education of the nation. This research uses descriptive method to collect actual information in detail that describe the existing symptoms, identify problems, make comparisons or evaluations. This study shows that any morality-related issues of education can not be solved using only one approach but require another approach depending on the conditions prevailing at the time.Indonesia’s national education system developed from the struggle for independence and the renaissance of the nation. During its development, many influences, local or global, contributed to the changing nature of the curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and teacher professionalism. The author argues that education reform should entail a dialog involving the government, educators, and society to attain the goal of constructing an independent society of democracy and social justice
Image-based Registration for a Neurosurgical Robot: Comparison Using Iterative Closest Point and Coherent Point Drift Algorithms
AbstractStereotactic neurosurgical robots allow quick, accurate location of small targets within the brain, relying on accurate registration of pre-operative MRI/CT images with patient and robot coordinate systems during surgery. Fiducial markers or a stereotactic frame are used as registration landmarks; the patient's head is fixed in position throughout surgery. An image-based system could be quicker and less invasive, allowing the head to be moved during surgery to give greater ease of access, but would be required to retain a surgical precision of ∼1mm at the target point.We compare two registration algorithms, iterative closest point (ICP) and coherent point drift (CPD), by registering ideal point clouds taken from MRI data with re-meshed, noisy and smoothed versions. We find that ICP generally gives better and more consistent registration accuracy for the region of interest than CPD, with a best RMS distance of 0.884±0.050mm between aligned point clouds, as compared to 0.995±0.170mm or worse for CPD
