Comics by Magda Dulčić
Salonu jugoslavenskog stripa u Vinkovcima. Iduća etapa u karijeri je kolaboracija sa suprugom Zvonkom Todorovskim, unutar multimedijalne grupe Divlje oko, gdje plasiraju stripove namijenjene galerijskom gledanju, a u izrazu Magda Dulčić pokazuje rezolutnu nadogradnju stila. Istovremeno, ostvaruje ciklus stripova za djecu u kojima pokazuje koherentan i jasan izričaj, suptilnih intervencija i eksperimenata. U posljednjim samostalnim stripovima, autorica ostvaruje djela lirskih, intimnih i intuitivnih preokupacija. This thesis focuses on the analysis of comics, creative phases and versatile artistic expression of Magda Dulčić (1965-2016), and her outstanding significance within the development of Croatian national comics. The multi-facetness of artistic interest is the main characteristic of Magda Dulčić as an artist, which makes her opus an intriguing subject for analysis. Following the inventions introduced by the group Novi kvadrat, and under the auspices of their member, Krešimir Zimonić, Magda Dulčić has been, since the early 1980's, creating many comics for fanzines, youth press, daily newspapers, comic magazines and children's magazines. Her comics can be found on the pages of Lucifer, Kurir, Patak, Vidici, Polet, Večernji list, Flit, Comicon, Modra lasta, Arkzin, Prvi izbor and Oblutak. The comics created by Magda Dulčić have an easily recognized style and characteristic formal elements. With her authentic poetics of expression, she stands out as one of the first relevant female authors on the comic art scene. Her colleagues, critics of popular culture and art historians also recognized this, so in 1988 she was awarded for comic innovation at the 4th Salon of Yugoslav Comics in Vinkovci. The next stage in her career was a collaboration with her husband, Zvonko Todorovski, within the multimedia group Divlje oko, where they created comics intended for gallery viewing. Regarding her expression, Magda Dulčić shows a more resolute change of style, thematically, visually and technically more complex. At the same time, she creates a cycle of comics for children in which she shows coherent and clear expressions, subtle interventions and experiments. In her latest independent comics, from 2010 until 2016, the author created works in which she displayed lyrical, intimate and intuitive preoccupations
Form and meaning in avant-garde collage and montage
"This book uses intermedial theories to study collage and montage, tracing the transformation of visual collage into photomontage in the early avant-garde period. Magda Dragu distinguishes between the concepts of collage and montage, as defined across several media (fine arts, literature, music, film, photography), based on the type of artistic meaning they generate, rather than the mechanical procedures involved. The book applies theories of intermediality to collage and montage, which is crucial for understanding collage as a form of cultural production. Throughout, the author considers the political implications, as collages and montages were often used for propagandistic purposes. This book combines research methods used in several areas of inquiry: art history, literary criticism, analytical philosophy, musicology, and aesthetics
Contemporary Youth Group Cultures in a Town in Western Hungary. Theses of the research and study
The choice of the theme is interdisciplinary, drawing on the findings not only of ethnography and anthropology but also of sociology and musicology and offering new results for these disciplines. The researcher strives for a multidisciplinary approach and methodological diversity, focusing on questions which have not yet been studied or only to a very limited extent. The theme examined: how youth create their own culture and the micro world of their own group cultures based on music. She examines the values that prevail and the extent to which groups are distinct from each other and the previous generation. Both members of the age group and specialists dealing with youth (DJ, youth organiser) are interviewed. In contrast with the notion of “subculture” widely used in the social sciences, the author examines youth culture as group cultures equal in value, existing side by side and in the same time frame. The age group surveyed comprised 500 third- and fourth-year secondary school students. Research methods: interviews, representative questionnaires; on-the-spot observations. Group cultures analysed: rocker, alternative, punk, skinhead, rapper, disco, raver, house. Structure: short outline of music and social history, presentation of the groups concerned, typological comparisons
What is Citizenship Today? A research in the Italian Context
The aim of this paper is to examine the topic of citizenship from three perspectives. First we wanted to understand how young people perceive citizenship today. To determine this, a study was conducted with a group of about hundred respondents whom we asked to define the concept of citizenship by answering the question :"Citizenship is..." The respondents answered individually, anonymously, and in written form. On the oder hand, an analysis of compulsory education programs has been conducted recently in order to determine what kind of an idea of citizenship they offer. We also analyzed a number of studies on the topic of citizenship (Gagnon and Pagé, 1999; Cogan and Derricott, 1998; Lynch, 1989; Amatucci, 2010). A combination of these three perspectives provides interesting inshights into the concept of citizenship education today

Mothers after gestational diabetes in Australia Diabetes Prevention Program (MAGDA-DPP) post-natal intervention: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
Background:
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is defined as glucose intolerance with its onset or first recognition during pregnancy. Post-GDM women have a life-time risk exceeding 70% of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Lifestyle modifications reduce the incidence of T2DM by up to 58% for high-risk individuals.
Methods/Design:The Mothers After Gestational Diabetes in Australia Diabetes Prevention Program (MAGDA-DPP) is a randomized controlled trial aiming to assess the effectiveness of a structured diabetes prevention intervention for post-GDM women. This trial has an intervention group participating in a diabetes prevention program (DPP), and a control group receiving usual care from their general practitioners during the same time period. The 12-month intervention comprises an individual session followed by five group sessions at two-week intervals, and two follow-up telephone calls. A total of 574 women will be recruited, with 287 in each arm. The women will undergo blood tests, anthropometric measurements, and self-reported health status, diet, physical activity, quality of life, depression, risk perception and healthcare service usage, at baseline and 12 months. At completion, primary outcome (changes in diabetes risk) and secondary outcome (changes in psychosocial and quality of life measurements and in cardiovascular disease risk factors) will be assessed in both groups.
Discussion:
This study aims to show whether MAGDA-DPP leads to a reduction in diabetes risk for post-GDM women. The characteristics that predict intervention completion and improvement in clinical and behavioral measures will be useful for further development of DPPs for this population

Abstract
Purpose. The main aim of the paper is analysis connection between hamstrings contracture and fault posture.
Methods. Examination covered a group of 40 children aged 4-6 from nonpublic kindergarten “Buziaczek” in Bydgoszcz. The study was divided into two parts. The first part included: evaluation of child’s figure, analysis of specified anthropometric points and identification of posture defects in particular areas of child’s body. The second part of study involved tests: "the end of the toe" and "fingers-floor" and measurement of hip joint’s range of mobility.
Results. Executed tests shown that 47,5% from examined group of children have fault posture. Occurrence of hamstrings contracture, which was diagnosed in 40%, disrupts pelvis balance causing oblique position of pelvis.
Conclusion. 1. Posture faults are major problem in our population. During examination near half of the group possessed at least one of the fault posture. 2. Hamstrings contracture disrupts pelvis balance causing oblique position of pelvis. Further it leads to increase frequency of fault posture. 3. Proper rehabilitation can prevent hamstring contracture, in advance prevents also occurrence of fault posture. 4. Rehabilitation study, in which analysis of specified anthropometric points and a few functional tests will be a component, can detect and correct diagnose fault posture among children
P-selectin expression in brachiocephalic artery during atherogenesis
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biological and Medical Sciences P-selectin expression in brachiocephalic artery during atherogenesis Diploma thesis Magda Kadlecová Supervisor: doc. PharmDr. Petr Nachtigal, Ph.D. Background: We studied the expression of P-selectin in brachiocephalic artery in the apoE−/− /LDLr−/− deficient mice, which were fed with the low carbohydrate, high protein diet. Methods: For this study we used the female apoE−/− /LDLr−/− deficient mice, which were divided into two groups, 6 mice in each group. Control mice were fed with AIN-93G diet (control group) and the second group was fed by low carbohydrate, high protein diet for 8 weeks. Immunohistochemical analysis was performed in tissue sections of brachiocephalic artery by avidin-biotin complex method with DAB detection. Results: Biochemical analysis revealed significantly increased levels of total cholesterol after feeding with low carbohydrate, high protein diet. Immunohistochemical analysis detected P- selectin expression only in endothelial cells, with more intensity in endothelial cells covering atherosclerotic plaques in both groups apoE−/− /LDLr−/− deficient mice. Atherosclerotic plaques were found in all mice in LCHP group. In control group, there were few mice without..
