ABSTRACT
Introduction: Since the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) was classified as a pandemic infection on March 11, 2020, it has spread rapidly around the world. The total number of confirmed infections was 217,119,281 and the total deaths were 4,510,202 worldwide, as of August 31, 2021. The changes in life caused by these new threats also impacted patient care. Medics around the world have had to adapt to this new reality. There is a lot of research into the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the diagnosis and treatment of other diseases, including cancer.
The aim of the study: Paying attention to the causes of delays in the diagnosis of cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic, with particular emphasis on oral cancer.
Material and method: The research was done using the PubMed and Google Scholar articles about the topics of: covid-19 pandemic; oral cancer; healthcare; cancer diagnosis
Description of the state of knowledge: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on the entire health system around the world. According to various studies, there were fewer cancer diagnoses between 2020 and 2021. Studies have identified the causes of these delays, such as: overwork and fatigue of health care workers, limited access to doctors due to quarantine, patients' fear of being infected in a health care facility, and the lack of follow-up visits, including dental visits.
Summary: Undoubtedly, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has put the people with chronic illnesses and those who are immunocompromised at the most risk. Solutions such as telemedicine during lockdown may be helpful in caring for cancer patients, but cannot replace a comprehensive examination by a doctor, especially in the case of oral cancer. As a result of the diagnostic delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a significant increase in the number of cancer deaths worldwide is expected.

Abstract
Introduction and purpose: Xerostomia is a salivary secretion malfunction that affects from 1 to 29% of the population. It is a common problem among elderly patients, however undeniably it still remains an underdiagnosed issue. Searching among available literature in the PubMed database with the following phrases: xerostomia; elderly, the aim of this article was to provide a broad review on the underdiagnosed problem which is xerostomia among elderly patients.
Description: A group at risk of developing xerostomia are people over 65 years old and women in the perimenopausal period. Although dry mouth varies in etiology, geriatric patients mostly develop xerostomia as a result of head and neck radiotherapy, Sjögren syndrome or medication treatment. Untreated symptoms can lead to severe issues which heavily impact not only oral health of the patient, but also their everyday life quality, since xerostomia may lead into difficulty of speaking, swallowing and tasting. The plan of treatment is influenced by the etiology of the case, however it is aimed to stimulate salivary flow and eradicate the use of unnecessary medication which may cause dry mouth. Prevention of dry mouth is based on maintenance of good oral hygiene.
Conclusions: Diagnosing the problem early can prevent patients from suffering the consequences of chronic xerostomia, therefore awareness should be brought to this issue. Dentist could also highly improve the quality of xerostomic patient’s life, if the chosen treatment significantly improved patient’s symptoms.

Extended Literature Review. Physiotherapy Bachelor's Thesis The Author: Martyna Leškevičiūtė Academic supervisor: Doc. Dr. Aurelija Šidlauskienė Aim. To evaluate impact of different types physical therapy methods in torticollis treatment. Methods. An expended literature review was performed in 2022 September – 2023 April months in databases: google scholar, elsevier, science direct, pubmed, research gate. Inclusion criteria were: research articles, where treatment impact was assessed of babies with torticollis of 3-12 months old, articles that were newer than 10 years and had full access to the article. Exclusion criteria were: research articles whose only abstract was in English, one case research. Results. Total of 105 research articles were included in expanded literature review. Torticollis treatment can be either surgical or conservative. Per usual conservative treatment is used for torticollis, however if conservative treatment has not shown any signs of improvement in 6 months then surgical treatment is recommended. Active and passive movement exercises, stretching and parents’ education are main physical therapy methods for babies torticollis treatment. Pituitary adenomas postoperative treatment outcomes: postoperative complications and endocrine outcomes
Author: Martyna Ramančiuckaitė Theme: „Pituitary adenomas postoperative treatment outcomes: postoperative complications and endocrine outcomes“ Pituitary adenomas are benign tumors that constitute approximately 10-15% intracranial and 85-91% of all sellar tumors [1,3]. Recent studies made in the latest year shows surgical treatment of pituitary adenomas outcomes around the world. The aim of this study is to evaluate frequency of postoperative complications and endocrinological outcomes for patients who underwent pituitary adenomas surgery during the period of 2007-2014. We evaluated frequency of endocrinological axis disturbance, estimated postoperative complications and evaluated factors influencing distant postoperative complications occurrence for patients who underwent pituitary adenomas surgery. Methods: The retrospective study evaluated 153 patients who underwent endonasal transsphenoidal surgery during the period 2007-2014. Data were collected from medical records of patients from LHSU Neurosurgery and Endocrinology departments, outpatient units. Presented data was processed and analysed using the statistical package SPSS 20.0. The data has been considered as statistically significant when p1cm) – 118 (77,1 %). We observed 20 (13,07 %) eraly postoperative complications: sinusitis 1(0,7 %), hematoma 5 (3,3 %), meningitis 1 (0,7 %), cerebro spinal fluid leak 8 (5,2 %), hypopituitarism 12 (7,8 %). Mostly postoperative complications occurred after NFPA surgery (12; 7,8 %). During early postoperative period TSH insufficiency was diagnosed in 9 (5,8 %) cases, ACTH in 2 (1,3 %) cases and combined TTH/AKTH insufficiency for 1 (0,65 %) patient (p<0,0001). In the distant postoperative period hypopituitarism was diagnosed for 24 (15,6 %) patients. There were 11 (7,2 %) isolated hormone deficiency cases and 13 (8,5 %) combined. Statistically significant relation was found between hypopituitarism occurrence and sex, most likely hypopituitarism occurred for men (14; 58,3 %) comparing with women(10; 41,7 %) (p<0,03), although between hypopituitarism occurrence and invasion to sphenoid sinuses (p<0,016). Conclusions: In our study we observed complications in 20 (13,07 %) cases, most common was hypopituitarism: it was diagnozes for 12 (7,8 %) patients in eraly postoperative period and for 24 (15,6 %) patients in distant postoperative period
