No full textDie vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der journalistisch-literarischen Aufklärung in Portugal, bekannt als „Século das Luzes“. Zu diesem Zweck wurde eine Analyse der Zeitschrift O Anonymo (1752-1754) durchgeführt. Ziel ist es, einen Beitrag zur wissenschaftlichen Forschung über das 18. Jahrhundert in Portugal zu leisten, da dieses bisher noch ein relativ schwach beleuchtetes Forschungsfeld darstellt. Das Gleiche kann über O Anonymo behauptet werden - die vorliegende Arbeit setzt sich daher zum Ziel, eine detaillierte inhaltliche Analyse des O Anonymo in Hinblick auf die portugiesische Aufklärung zu erarbeiten. Im theoretischen Teil wird zuerst auf die Aufklärung allgemein und im Anschluss daran auf die Aufklärung in Portugal eingegangen. Zu diesem Zweck werden vorwiegend die historischen Ereignisse vor und während des 18. Jahrhunderts näher beleuchtet. Anschließend wird die Zeitung, ihr Autor und die Querverbindungen zu anderen Autoren genauer dargestellt, damit der Leser einen kontextualisierten Einblick in die Publikation bekommt. Im empirischen Teil geht die Arbeit auf die wichtigsten thematischen Aspekte von O Anonymo ein und unterlegt die Beobachtungen mit entsprechenden Textbeispielen. Als wichtigstes Thema für den Autor der Zeitschrift stellt sich die Beschreibung bzw. Kritik des moralischen Sittenverfalls in Portugal heraus. Aus diesem Grund strebt der Autor eine Beschreibung des Idealbürgers an, welcher seiner Meinung nach notwendig wäre, um Portugal wirtschaftlich und moralisch an die europäische Spitze anschließen zu lassen. Konkret zeichnet sich dieser Idealbürger durch folgende Tugenden aus: Bescheidenheit, Vernunft, Solidarität, Ehrlichkeit, Fürsorge, Umsicht, um nur einige wenige zu nennen. Des Weiteren sticht der starke religiöse Einfluss der Schriften auf den Autor der Zeitung, Bento Morganti, auf O Anonymo hervor, welcher als ideologischer Hintergrund dient. Die Forschungsarbeit konnte darüber hinaus zeigen, in welchem Maße sich der portugiesische Autor mit anderen aufklärerischen wichtigen Autoren in Europa austauschte und dass er trotz der allgegenwärtigen Zensur und Repression mit ihnen in Kontakt stand und so für Portugal nicht übliche Verbindung von heimischer und fremder Literatur darstellte.This paper focuses on the literary production in Portugal during the 18th century, commonly known as the “Século das Luzes”. For this purpose, the Portuguese periodical O Anonymo (1752- 1754) is analyzed in order to provide a scientific contribution about the 18th century in Portugal, which represents an understudied field. This also applies to the periodical; therefore, this paper will provide a detailed analysis of the periodical, and thereby establish a logical relation to the historical evolution of Portugal within this century. The paper is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part section. The theoretical part deals with the enlightenment in general, before focusing on the enlightenment in Portugal. This will be done by providing historical information about the 18th Century and about Portugal. Subsequently, a detailed analysis of the periodical as well as the author and his connections to other con contemporary authors will be realized. The main goal is to provide a contextualized insight into the periodical. The empiric part of this master thesis concentrates on the most important thematic aspects, illustrated by corresponding examples corresponding examples drawn from the periodical. The authors main focus undoubtedly lies not only on the description, but also on the criticism of the moral deterioration of the Portuguese society. Additionally, the author, Bento Morganti, aims to describe the ideal citizen, which he deems necessary for the improvement of the economical and moral situation in Portugal and to close the gap between this nation and the rest of Europe. The author specifically names the following virtues: modesty, rationality, solidarity, honesty, welfare, discretion, to name just a few. Furthermore, the religious impact on the writing of Bento Morganti within his discourses is a crucial aspect, as it illustrates at the same time his ideological background. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
