The Care for the Purity of Faith in Family and Ecclesial Communities in Cappadocia According to St. Gregory of Nyssa
St. Gregory of Nyssa came from a numerous family which, having already been Christian for few generations, gave few saints to the Church. The care for the purity of faith manifested itself in different ways. First, it appeared as a careful upbringing in a family environment, which was established by all family mem-bers, namely parents and elder children who assisted in educating younger sib-lings, and which became visible in the transfer of faith from oldest generations to youngest ones by creating some tradition. The second area in ecclesial circles was the care for the orthodoxy. A fragment of the letter of St. Basil the Great to the eldest of Neocezarea can be an example of the care for the purity of the de-posit of the faith, which is strongly against heterodox teaching propagated in some ambiences. For the Cappadocian fathers heterodox sciences referring to the deity of the Son, the Holy Spirit and the appropriate understanding of the Holy Trinity, were a big challenge. St. Gregory of Nyssa appeared against dif-ferent manifestations of the heterodoxy (such as Arians, eunomians, macedoni-ans etc.) in a deliberate and determined way. Parallel to the theological reflec-tion he progressed the realization of commandments and evangelical advices through establishing the care for needs of the poor and the elderly, and ad-vanced attempts for strengthening faith instilled with baptism and for showing the prospect of participation in the life of God
Song of Songs in the Aponius interpretation
This article is the first attempt in Polish to present the main features of Aponius interpretation of the Song of Songs. For he was one of many authors who commented this book of the Old Testament, the content of which has always been a problem of interpretation. In ancient Christian times there were two exegetical currents: the literal and allegorical. Aponius falls within this second trend but brings individual and original exegesis off. In love of the bridegroom and the bride seems to see the symbol of love of the divine nature to human nature in the mystery of the Incarnation of the Son of God. By Aponius God himself comes through the Incarnation of the Word of the Father for his vineyard, which is the people of Israel, and through the precious seedlings originating from it and by the apostles, is revealed to the whole world, and through the seed of faith sown in individual peoples, creates a separate vineyards and offers the bride to the lavish use of the specific, unique fruits of welfare, to a shared joy in the vineyards

Rola rodziców, nauczycieli i pasterzy wspólnot w formacji chrześcijańskiej dzieci i młodzieży w świetle wybranych pism Ojców Kapadockich
Every human formation begins in the family environment, where in the ancient era, both in pagan, Jewish and Christian cultures, the father occupied a privileged position as the head of the family responsible for the functioning of this small community. The formation of Christian youth in antiquity was a great challenge for both parents and the church community and concerned the widely discussed issue of access to classical culture.
In the writings of St. Basil and St. Gregory of Nazianzus in the matter of youth formation, there are visible attempts to use the existing educational institutions for the purpose of building the intellectual foundations on which the edifice of the Christian faith should be built. Religious and moral teaching in the Judaic environment was also conducted by teachers sent by God, who, apart from parents, were Moses, priests, prophets, sages and scribes. The master/teacher-student relationship in ancient cultures mirrors the father-son relationship in family education. In Alexandria, from the time of the first Ptolemies, there was a research center called the Museion, a building dedicated to the Muses managed by a priest appointed by the king of this dynasty. In this center, many scientific disciplines were developed that were not dealt with by philosophers and rhetoricians who ran their own schools. The broadly understood Hellenic culture, whose achievements are used to stimulate spiritual and intellectual development in man, are not to be despised and rejected.
In the Regulae fusius tractatae, Basil the Great indicates some methods that the superior of a fraternity should use. It is obvious that the model of the teacher, both for himself and for his superiors, was Jesus Christ, who himself indicated that the greatest commandment that he leaves to his disciples is love. It is very important to constantly watch over the behavior of young people and immediately correct mistakes so that they do not perpetuate. In the family, such people are parents who raise their children with patience and love. Therefore, the Bishop of Caesarea advises that over the boys, someone older, more experienced than others, and known for his patience, be appointed over the boys, so that he can correct the faults of the young with fatherly kindness and words full of wisdom, so that the correction of the transgression will take place in the young man, and the soul will exercise at the same time. mastering the passions. The same method that St. Basil recommends young people to repeat exercises aimed at mastering carnal passions.
Bazylego i św.
Creation of the world in selected writings of the Cappadocian Fathers
The creation of the world was a highly debated topic in the first centuries of Christianity with the advent of many attempts to synthesize the views of Greek philosophers on cosmogenesis with the biblical tradition. In the fourth century, theological controversy arose which, as in the case of Arius and his followers, treated the Son as a creature, the most perfect indeed, but a creature that did not have the same dignity and majesty as the Father. To the treatise of St. Basil on the six days of creation (Hexaemeron), St. Gregory of Nyssa responds with his own treatise De opificio hominis. Where the deceased brother ends his series of homilies, Gregory of Nyssa begins his interpretation. It was written probably in the years 380-381, so after the death of the Bishop of Caesarea. Most likely, it was intended as a defense, but also as a correction to the more famous homilies on the history of the creation of the world, presented in the first chapter of the Book of Genesis. At the same time, the treatise of St. Gregory of Nyssa contains his own observations on the text of Genesis, which reflect his deep desire to show the coherence between Scripture and the philosophy of his time.ks. dr hab.
Main Reasons for Introducing Restrictions on Mixed Marriages in Selected Ancient Authors and in Ecclesiastical Synodal Canons
Marriage and the family as institutions belong to the natural order in every culture, because they constituted the basis for the functioning of society in many of the most important dimensions of its functioning. It should be noted, however, that in each environment you can find the phenomenon of mixed marriages as well as the existing restrictions in contracting them. Various motives resulted in the introduction of restrictions on entering into mixed marriages. They can be broadly divided into several groups: the threats related to the professed faith were particularly disapproved of, which can be seen in the Judaic and Christian traditions, while in ancient Rome there are noticeable restrictions related to the relationship between free and liberated people, relations between senators and their descendants up to the third degree and a person with a bad reputation, such as an actress or a prostitute, the relationship between the guardian and the ward, and finally the relationship between an active soldier and, for example, a woman from a Roman province. In ancient Israel, the motive for restricting mixed marriages was to preserve the identity of the nation and preserve pure monotheistic faith and worship against widespread idolatrous practices. Similarly, in Christianity, from the very beginning, concern for the purity of the faith was a guiding idea not only for Christian authors of the first four centuries, but also for synod participants who spoke about disciplinary matters. Marriage was forbidden with Gentiles (especially with pagan priests), Jews and heretics. Clergy at various levels were also restricted, who were not allowed to marry a widow, prostitute, or actress of another person of dubious reputation
