Trauma history of Armenian refugees in France: Traumatic stress and emotional clarity
Get PDFMany refugees who settle in Western countries have had traumatic experiences linked to the situation of organised violence prevailing in their countries of origin. The suffering resulting from these experiences is often interpreted on the basis of a medical model that focuses on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
This study looks at post-traumatic stress in Armenian refugees following the Artsakh war against Azerbaijan in 2020. This work is the first research to provide data on post-traumatic stress in Armenians. The aim is to explore the link between post-traumatic stress and lack of emotional clarity as a function of the refugees' traumatic experience. To do this, we administered the three instruments required for the assessment to 78 participants: the International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ), the Harvard Trauma Questionnaire (HTQ) and the Disturbance of Emotional Clarity Scale (DERS). We also translated the three scales into Armenian so that the refugees could complete them.
We observe a high prevalence of PTSD. The majority of individuals in the sample, 80.8%, tested positive for PTSD. We found positive correlations between post-traumatic stress and lack of emotional clarity. These positive correlations varied according to the number of traumatic experiences the refugees had. We found that there are gender differences in the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Women reported slightly higher mean scores for PTSD and PTSD symptoms than men. On the other hand, there was no significant difference between the sexes in terms of lack of emotional clarity. With regard to traumatic events, men reported having experienced a greater average number of traumatic events than women.
These studies are essential for understanding the psychological effects of conflict and forced migration, and for putting in place therapeutic plans to help populations in distress. However, this study has several limitations. There may be a sampling bias, as it is difficult to recruit a representative sample of refugees. Many are reluctant to take part in the study because of the emotional burden it entails. On the other hand, refugees have very varied experiences of war, flight and resettlement. This heterogeneity makes it difficult to generalise the results to the entire refugee population.Muitos refugiados que se instalam nos países ocidentais viveram experiências traumáticas ligadas à situação de violência organizada que prevalece nos seus países de origem. Este estudo analisa o stress pós-traumático nos refugiados arménios após a guerra de Artsakh contra o Azerbaijão em 2020. Este trabalho é a primeira investigação a fornecer dados sobre o stress pós-traumático nos Arménios. O objetivo é explorar a relação entre o stress pós-traumático e a falta de clareza emocional em função da experiência traumática dos refugiados. Para tal, aplicámos os três instrumentos necessários para a avaliação a 78 participantes: o Questionário Internacional de Trauma (ITQ), o Questionário de Trauma de Harvard (HTQ) e a Escala de Dificuldades da Clareza Emocional (DERS). Verificamos uma elevada prevalência de PTSD. A maioria dos indivíduos da amostra, 80,8%, apresentou resultados positivos para PTSD. Encontrámos correlações positivas entre o stress pós-traumático e a falta de clareza emocional. Estas correlações positivas variaram consoante o número de experiências traumáticas que os refugiados tiveram. Verificámos que existem diferenças de género nos sintomas da perturbação de stress pós-traumático. As mulheres apresentaram pontuações médias ligeiramente mais elevadas para a PTSD e para os sintomas de PTSD do que os homens. Por outro lado, não houve diferença significativa entre os sexos no que respeita à falta de clareza emocional. Relativamente aos acontecimentos traumáticos, os homens referiram ter vivido um maior número médio de acontecimentos traumáticos do que as mulheres.
Estes estudos são essenciais para compreender os efeitos psicológicos dos conflitos e da migração forçada e para pôr em prática planos terapêuticos para ajudar as populações em sofrimento. No entanto, este estudo tem várias limitações. Pode haver um viés de amostragem, uma vez que é difícil recrutar uma amostra representativa de refugiados. Muitos estão relutantes em participar no estudo devido à carga emocional que este implica. Por outro lado, os refugiados têm experiências muito variadas de guerra, fuga e reinstalação. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
