Brown has a B.A. in art from the Oklahoma College ofLiberal Arts (1973), a B.F.A. in painting and printmaking from the University of Oklahoma (1976), and an M.F.A. in printmaking from the University of Ohio (1978). In 1978- 79 he was an assistant professor of art at the Universidad de las Americas in Pueblo, Mexico.
