Abstract of the article:If one image means more than a thousand words, how do we describe the benefit of using the image that surrounds the observer on all sides? The combination of the eye tracker and VR goggles opened up new perspectives for scientists dealing with perception. The new tool made it necessary to gradually answer all doubts, especially about research on three-dimensional objects presented as flat images. The article presents new results of eye-tracking tests based on spherical stimuli concerning the previously diagnosed phenomenon of the so-called longitudinal church. Old registrations were conducted with a stationary eye tracker and images shown on a screen. Both experiments were based on three examples. The only element that changed between them was the length of the nave of the presented interiors. Theoretical example allowed to look at single changes in cognitive parameters, but most informative was whether the process of leading the eyesight between the presented stimuli in both cases changed in the same way. Inquiry fills a significant methodological gap. The comparison showed, that the results of a well-conducted experiment based on flat images should be confirmed during tests in VR. Some cognitive aspects remained almost unchanged in 2D and 3D registrations. The text describes how 2D stimulus and passive perception, influenced the data.Equipment used: HTC Vive, Tobi Pro Integration (VR head set with eye tracker), steamVR Base Station 2.0 Units, Samsung Gear 360Software: Tobi Pro Lab 360VR</p

Sketching the Author Figure of Jan Alan Bardziński: Dominican, Preacher, Translator

    No full text
The article casts light on a poorly known and rarely appreciated figure of a late-Baroque Dominican, keen preacher and devoted translator of both laic and religious texts, Jan Alan Bardziński. The author firmly states that Bardziński’s literary activity remains strongly connected to his multiple duties as a monk as one of the main values he searches for in his readings is a didactic one. Nevertheless he certainly can be defined as a consistent adapter of some renowned ancient works as well, which puts him among other 17th and 18th century followers of the humanistic and classicist traditions and enables us to rank high his erudition and philological preparation. The essay makes a brief survey of his works, describing their content and underlining some important notes given by the translator himself regarding his goals and prorities. Some general observations on the characteristics of his texts are made and the question of integrity or disintegrity of his literary production is highlighted as well

Notes in the Margin of Edition of a Basilian Poem The Massacre of the Innocents

This paper is intended to gather some remarks regarding a first published late-Baroque poem The Massacre of the Innocents, being an anonymous Polish translation of Giambattista Marino’ s work. After giving a sketchy characterization of the poem and displaying the main reasons of its publication, the author proceeds to conclusions drawn from the simultaneous reading of three existing versions of the Polish text survived in one of the Ossolineum manuscripts. He dwells on the paths the translator takes arduously forming and transforming his version of the Italian poem, pointing out the main types of corrections he makes and trying to present a reasonable explanation for his artistic choices. The paper intends though to shape a more profound picture of the work taking into account not only the final (or the one considered to be such) form of the text but also all the traces of the translator’ s continuous labour conserved in the extant versions of the Polish poem.Udostępnienie publikacji Wydawnictwa Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego finansowane w ramach projektu „Doskonałość naukowa kluczem do doskonałości kształcenia”. Jan Daniecki’s two translations from Jan Kochanowski’s “Elegiarum libri quattuor” The paper includes two Polish translations of two Latin elegies of Jan Kochanowski. Their author is a Late-Renaissance poet Jan Daniecki (died after 1611), known for his passion for the antique tradition since he also translates some works of Lucian of Samosata. The first work tells the heroic deeds and tragic death of the legendary princess Wanda; the second one presents the story of two lovers, Odatis and Zariadres, overcoming all odds to unite and live happily ever after

Idea unii polsko-litewskiej w twórczości Jana Kochanowskiego

The paper takes a common view of those works by Jan Kochanowski which reflect the relationship between the author and the act of the Polish-Lithuanian Union established on 1 July 1569 in Lublin. The only text that is the poet’s direct reaction to the event in question is Proporzec or Hołd pruski, which does not mean that there are no other works of this type by Kochanowski. The examples are the poem Zgoda / Concordia, Fragment XXI (Battle with Amurat at Varna), the Latin Ode IV (Ad Concordiam) or Fraszka II 107 (Na most warszewski / On the Bridge of Warsaw)

Intraoperative Optical Coherence Tomography Analysis of Clear Corneal Incision: Effect of the Lateral Stromal Hydration

Aim of the Study. The aim of this prospective study was to analyse the effect of lateral stromal hydration on the morphology of clear corneal incision architecture using the microscope integrated anterior segment OCT. Methods. The cohort included 65 clear corneal incisions of 49 patients who underwent cataract surgery. Corneal incisions were recorded using a Leica Proveo 8 microscope with an intraoperative OCT EnFocus™ device continuously during the surgery. Corneal incision morphology before and after lateral stromal hydration was analysed. Results. Good adaptation of the corneal incision before hydration was present in 39 cases (60%), in 16 cases (24.6%), the prominence of posterior lip was present, and, in 10 cases (15.4%), the posterior lip tongue was inverted/retracted into the incision. In 38 cases (58.5%), hydration had no effect on the incision architecture; most often, it was primarily a well-adapted corneal incision (46.2%), less often an incision with posterior lip prominence (10.8%), or tongue inversion into the incision (1.6%) prior to hydration. Hydration worsened the incision architecture in 14 cases (21.5%); most often, it induced/worsened posterior lip prominence (15.4%), less often posterior lip retraction (1.6%), tongue inversion into the incision (1.6%), gap development in the peripheral part of the corneal incision (1.6%), or incomplete opening of the corneal incision (1.6%). In 13 cases (20%), hydration improved the incision architecture, especially in cases with inverted or retracted posterior lip tongue (12.3%), less often in cases with posterior lip prominence (7.7%). Conclusion. Lateral stromal hydration seldom affects the condition of the corneal incision. Still, it can cause both deterioration and improvement of the corneal incision architecture. Intraoperative OCT provides real-time monitoring of corneal incision morphology during hydration procedure

The article constitutes an attempt at elaborating upon a distinguishable type of text composition appearing in the parts that conclude individual books of Jan Kochanowski’s Fraszki. What is especially emphasized by the author of the article is a peculiar, in terms of convention, way of crowning the collection by two epigraphs whose character is obviously obscene: Marcinowa powieść (III 85) and O flisie (III 86). In the light of the argumentation presented, the sense of the poets’ concept implemented therein should be sought in a much dichotomous relationship between the two said fraszkas and the preceding poem Na słup kamienny (III 84), but also in the figure of achieving a defined aim, which appears in both the fraszkas. The author of the article also considers some correspondences occurring between the fraszka O flisie and the pieces Na most warszewski (II 106–108) and the elegy III 15.The article constitutes an attempt at elaborating upon a distinguishable type of text composition appearing in the parts that conclude individual books of Jan Kochanowski’s Fraszki.
