Nasledie «Sidora Karpovicha» v sovremennoj pesennoj kul'ture
The article analyzes the transformation of the Russian folk song “Dear
Sir Sidor Karpovich”, studied by V. N. Toporov in 1979. This text was a
prison game depicting a funeral rite and having a function of initiation,
but re cently it has become a popular song and lost its minor mood. At the
same time, the protagonist (Sidor Karpovich) loses his name and becomes
a secondary character. The main role is taken by his wife, Lyubka, called
by the epithet “gray dove”. The plot of the song is based on twists and turns of her life after the death of her husband. Analyzing the image of the dove in poetry and, in particular, in prison lyrics, as well as looking at possible influences of other popular songs, the author proposes possible reasons for such a transformation
Anatoly Vasiliev’s Theatre. Semiology of Continuity and the Way to a New Type of Theatrical System
Introduction. The article provides a general description of Anatoly Vasiliev’s theatrical method, discussing the essence of methodological and philosophical breakthroughs in the future of Russian and world theaters, and, in this context, the continuity of the main tenets of Stanislavsky’s system.Methodology and sources. The article compares two theatrical concepts, two methodological, philosophical, and historical approaches of Russian and World Theatres: Stanislavski’s system and Vasiliev’s method. It determines the semiology of continuity and features of a new approach to the development of dramatic art. Results and discussion. The article highlights the elements of the Stanislavsky system present in Anatoly Vasiliev’s method, aiming to derive an algorithm for utilizing new opportunities based on established systems and techniques for training modern actors. The article's conclusions are drawn from five years of experience (since 1988) with the Vasiliev method, gained through direct contact with the master while collaborating on texts by Plato, Oscar Wilde, Fyodor Dostoevsky, William Faulkner, Thomas Mann, Erasmus of Rotterdam, and Alexander Pushkin. As the article relies on introspective research followed by epistemological analysis, it maintains a subjective nature. It is the outcome of the author’s experience working within the Anatoly Vasiliev’ s School of Dramatic Art at the GITIS acting and directing course (1988–1993), and years of observation of the method’s evolution in working with Vasiliev's students, students of theater universities, and professional actors both in Russia and abroad.Conclusion. The article does not claim to precisely represent Vasiliev’s ideas and thoughts but rather reflects the author’s journey through the rehearsal process in Vasiliev’s theater, acknowledging the internal changes experienced by the author as an actor, director, and individual within the method. It abstains from making value judgments regarding the Stanislavsky system and Vasiliev’s method, instead highlighting the most distinctive features of the theatrical method, elucidating its philosophy, and emphasizing the unity between the Stanislavsky and Vasiliev systems
Minaev's prose is a literature of manipulation. The author seems to dissect the world of glamour and success to dispute mass-culture, to denounce the new rich, the jet set - all those whom he calls « the soulless ». The writer claims to offer the diary of a new Pechorin, a present-day Byronic hero. The story, however, is not meant to show a character but to send the readers an ideological message which differs little from official discourse. Aiming at commercial success, many of Minaev's novels are bestsellers - the author tries to represent a false « other » comprised of the current power's admirers, who are presented as a minority. The support given to the writer by the Kremlin-directed media and the conjunction of Minaev's thesis with the main points of propaganda seem to suggest that his prose might be part of a large-scale ideological project.Tokmakov Anatoly. Motives of Existentialism in the Poetry of Knuts Skujenieks and Anatoly Zhigulin
The Master Thesis examines motives of existentialism in the poetry of two significant poets of the second half of the 20th century: Knuts Skujenieks and Anatoly Zhigulin. The thesis principally deals with the poetry written during the time both poets spent at labour camps. An essential part of the research is devoted to the biographical context of their work. Life at the labour camps provided the main impulse of the genesis of existential feelings for both poets.
Motives of existentialism in poetry have not been studied to a large extent both in Latvian and Russian history of literature. The author of the Master Thesis in her research discusses existential ideas in totalitarian regime as well as analyses the reflection of existential situation in K. Skujeniek’s and A. Zhigulin’s poetry according to the following aspects: first, captivity vs. freedom; second, acquainting with oneself in the existential circumstances of choice, responsibility and honesty; third, the exposure of the poet’s vulnerable self; fourth, free will and its tragic implications; fifth, death as the dividing line of existentialism; sixth, the existence of the labour camp as exposed model of the soviet life.
Key words: Knuts Skujenieks, Anatoly Zhigulin, the poetry at labour camps, motives of existentialism, literary expression
The study showed that we can implement the principle of current control of the main circuit of a hybrid DC contactor by introduction of a small-size transformer of current into it. It has two primary windings, the first of which is connected to the first pole in succession with the main contact, the second one ‒ in series with a semiconductor switch, which shunts this contact in opposition to the first, and one secondary power supply. The study determined peculiarities of the processes of current flowing from the circuit of the main contacts, the commutation of a current transformer, the charging of a commutation condenser for locking of a semiconductor switch. The study showed that a magnetic wire conductor of a transformer is saturated and a control circuit is deenergized in a switched-on state. When a contactor is switched off, the charge of a commutation condenser capacitor goes due to a direct current under an action of EMF, which occurs on the secondary winding of a transformer during its re-magnetization in the opposite direction by current flowing in a shunting circuit. At the same time, at the given values of a cross section of a magnetic conductor and capacity of a condenser, a voltage level to which it is charged, does not depend on the number of turns of the secondary winding, but it is proportional to a square root of commutated current. The time of its charge under the same conditions is proportional to the number of turns of the secondary winding. This makes it possible to approach reasonably definition of parameters of elements that provide reliable locking of semiconductor switchers. The study showed that the proposed hybrid contactors, due to introduction of circuit current control, have properties that enhance their competitiveness compared to the existing ones. Specifically, they increased reliability, they do not need a power supply from an additional power source, they exclude standard drivers, they show minimized energy consumption. Thus, the application aspect of a use of the obtained scientific result is the possibility of creation of competitive reliable hybrid DC contactors for voltage up to 1,000 V and currents of 100‒630 AПоказано, что принцип управления гибридным контактором током главной цепи создаёт ряд положительных качеств, повышающих его конкурентоспособность.
The historical and cultural content of the writing of the novel Anatoly Rybakov's «Heavy Sand»
The article analyzes the historical and cultural context of writing Anatoly Rybakov's novel «Heavy
Sand». Temporal retrospection in the novel is analyzed. The complexities of literary life of that time are considered.
Particular attention is paid to censorship in Soviet literature. The author was forced to follow the rules
of description of the Second World War. Recently, a great deal of research has been devoted to the topic of time
and historical memory. Various explorations of the influence of time and context on certain stages of creation
and influence of Anatoly Rybakov's novel «Heavy Sand» are made. Сhildren's memories make up a certain
outline of the novel Heavy Sand – the writer has repeatedly pointed out that the novel takes place in the town
of Snovsk, just as this city is a prototype of the city of Revsk in his other work, Cortik. The aspiration for the
authenticity of the area was also preserved by the creators of the TV series Heavy Sand – in the beginning of
the two thousand years (at that time it was called Shchors) a whole town was built on five hectares. A. Rybakov
thoroughly studied the "spirit of the city", reconstructed events from the words of eyewitnesses and used his
experience as a combatant. It was his deep immersion in the cultural and historical context that enabled him
to accurately and insightfully portray the joyful, everyday and especially tragic pages of twentieth-century
history. The question of the authenticity of the description of the victims of the Holocaust is raised. Particularly
important is the immersion of the author in the environment, the gathering of eyewitness accounts, the
observance of historical truth. It is noted that attention to the “Jewish question” was caused by the writer's
inner desire to explore the fate of his people. It is important that Anatoly Rybakov belonged to Soviet writers
of the “first magnitude” and was very attentive to his work. In fact, space is modeled according to the needs
and capabilities of people at one time or another. "Work" with it is not imbued with sacralization and is mostly
done for pragmatic reasons. The concepts of space and place are different in the article. In the article we come
to the conclusion that the novel «Heavy Sand». Іs a combination of personal memories and universal memory
