Calculation of the optimal timeout of executing a SQL query for multi-master replication system
Many multi-master replication systems are based on a two-phase commit mechanism. One of its problems is waiting for a response from the database servers by the coordinator, which may not come due to problems on the network or on the database server itself, which leads to delays in the activity of the multi-master replication system. Usually, such problems are solved by introducing a timeout, but if its value is too large, the problem may not be noticed in a timely manner, and too small a timeout will be processed for SQL queries, which will cause an increase in the load on the network due to additional service messages. The paper analyzes the execution time of a SQL query on several servers in order to calculate the optimal timeout for a multi-master replication operation. Based on the results obtained, a module for calculating the optimal query execution timeout for multi-master replication systems has been developed. © 2022 Author(s)
Educational reading of Siberian and Far Eastern population in the late XX - early XXI centuries
The article is devoted to reading modification, which is most widespread today, educational reading. For the first time educational reading of Siberian and Far Eastern residents became a subject of an independent research. Its importance to develop a personality, society, state is reasoned. The author considers the corpus making educational reading, to which refers textbooks, manuals, reference books, encyclopedias, fiction according to school curricula and other editions that addressing is related to educational activity. The audience of educational reading is revealed and characterized, its age and gender structure is defined. Children, teenagers, youth entered it by age criterion, mainly women by a gender one. Pupils made the most group of users of municipal and state libraries on number. Among them senior school children more often addressed to libraries for preparation to classes. Requests for educational literature averaged from 60 to 90% of all requirements in municipal libraries of the region. Author's definitions of the term «educational reading» are offered to a scientific community for discussion.</jats:p
N. S. Gumilev as a translator and an editor of “Robert Sothey. Ballads” of the publishing house “Vsemirnaya literature”
N. Gumilev. The purpose of the publishing house was to produce collections of translations of the most famous literary works and to get Russian readers to acquaint with the world literature. Gumilev’s “Ballads” of Southey has pursued the same goal but with the characteristic of the Russian tradition of this poet’s reception. For the English public, Southey was mainly known as an author of historical epic poems, but in Russian literature he was more of a ballad master. This perception has made a lodgement thanks to the first and major translator of his poetry, V. A. Zhukovskiy whose favorite genre was a ballad. In the introduction to the collection of poems Gumilev has drawn attention to the importance of Zhukovskiy for the tradition of Russian Southey and has dedicated the whole book to this idea. Six ballads, the third part of all poems in the book are connected with Zhukovskiy: four of them were translated by him as individual poems and two more were included in a short hexametric novel “Two tales and one more” (“Mary, the maid of the Inn” and “Jaspar”). M. Gor’kiy didn’t like the idea of including Zhukovskiy’s translations in the book, but for Gumilev it was the question of high importance and he has struggled for it. His choice of the only ballad for his own translation also prove this concept: he has chosen “The Surgeon’s Warning”, Southey’s self-parody for one of his most noted poem in Russia thanks to Zhukovskiy’s translation
Библиотека «Общества взаимного вспоможения приказчиков в г. Томске»: история и основные показатели деятельности (1894—1913)
Study of the history of particular libraries is the important trend of modern domestic and foreign research works, since it contributes to the solution of not only scientific, but also local history and education tasks. Due to the lack of complex research studies on the history of library of the “Society for Mutual Assistance of Salesmen in Tomsk”, this article for the first time considers in detail the activities of library for all twenty years — from its establishment to closure. The purpose of the article is to reconstruct the history of the Society’s library, including its structure, collections, functioning and future destiny. The author collected the data from a wide range of historical sources: the Charter and reports of the Society for the entire period of its existence, anniversary historical essays summarizing the results of 10—20 years of its activity, the printed catalogue of the library, the pre-revolutionary magazine “Bibliotekar” [Librarian]. Information contained in one of them is confirmed directly or indirectly in the other. All this makes it possible to characterize the source base as sufficiently complete and representative. The principles of historicism, objectivity and consistency formed the methodological basis of the research. The article uses the methods of comparative analysis, statistical, chronological and source studies. The article reveals the dependence of the amount of allocations for the library on the financing of other activities of the Society. For the first time, the author compiled the rating of writers among the library’s users, which was headed by both classic writers and authors who are almost forgotten today. The article reconstructs the repertoire of periodicals that were available in the collections. The obtained results reveal the close interrelation and interdependence of all indicators of the library’s activity, including the time of its operation, the amount of financing, the number of users, visits, titles of books and periodicals. This study expands the idea of public initiative in the arrangement of libraries in pre-revolutionary Siberia, the demand for these cultural institutions among the lower strata of Siberian society and their reader’s preferences.
IX.The relevance of the work lies in the fact that in the age of modern information and communication technologies, due to the specificity of the rapid and ubiquitous dissemination of information, the study of speech strategies of political leaders is becoming one of the most effective ways to comprehend the existing agenda. Relations between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Thailand in the XXI centuries. have become more friendly and close since the leaders of the two countries met during the state visit of the Russian President to Thailand in 2003. This happened for the first time in 106 years after the meeting of King Rama V and Emperor Nicholas II in St. Petersburg in 1897. V.V. Putin and his ex-wife became guests of King Bhumibol (Rama IX) and Queen Sirikit. This state visit is considered the opening of a new era of relations between the two countries, which has led to the current cooperation in many aspects. V.V. Putin and King Rama IX are recognized by foreign media as leaders who enjoy high prestige in the international arena. V.V. Putin, who has long ruled over Russia, one of the world's superpowers, is considered a key player in world politics. King Rama IX throughout his long reign was a leader contributing to the humanistic peaceful development of Thai society. For this reason, the topic of speech strategies of these politicians is of particular interest in view of the fact that their statements can affect the social, economic and political dynamics of the development of not only their countries, but also foreign ones.
Speaking about the degree of elaboration of the topic, it is worth noting that the collection of information presents some difficulty in the speeches of President V.V. Putin from the first day of his inauguration on May 7, 2000. are currently posted on the official website. There are also videos, recordings of broadcasts, and transcripts. Moreover, all types of performances are clearly categorized by genre and date.
As for the speeches of the King of Thailand, they are not posted on such an official website, although the royal speeches of King Rama IX, as a rule, are voiced through the media, they are characterized only by short phrases and sayings on various occasions. There are also tapes of the full texts of the speeches (referring to the appeal to Thai citizens), posted in digital format in special communities of social networks, the participants of which are people interested in the story of the King (as a rule, they are translated into English, and the author needed to do a reverse translation). The author himself stenographed the speeches for a foreign audience (videos, a dramatic film, located on the website www.youtube.com). Despite the fact that the amount of research resources is rather limited, from the author's point of view, they are of sufficient quality for studying the specifics of the political communication of King Rama IX
Characters’ nomination according to external features in Ilf and Petrov’s “12 chairs”
The paper presents the analysis of nomination according to the external features of the characters in the novel “The Twelve Chairs” by I. Ilf and Eu. Petrov. The characters’ nomination is understood as the main part of the anthroponymic system of the novel. The system of nominations denoting a person according to different aspects is viewed as a complex of multiple levels including several subsystems or semantic unities. One of them is a unity of nominations denoting characters according to their external features. Due to their semantic meaning the units can be divided into two groups: units denoting a person according to permanent physical characteristics (such as age, sex, appearance) and units denoting a person according to situational physiological state or condition. The nominations in question serve to present a vivid description of personages and to express the esthetic impression based on the analysis of physical, physiological and anthropological qualities and states visually perceived by the author of nomination. The article will also touch upon the ways the nominations are translated into English by native speaking translators
About some economic applications of cohort analysis
Nowadays, there is the problem of evaluating the return on advertising costs for industries with a delayed conversion. Cohort analysis is a series of studies which are conducted at certain time intervals. Using cohort analysis we can better assess the effectiveness of advertising channels for industries with a delayed conversion. Cohort analysis can be used to analyze following items: efficiency in the context of "traffic sources", usefulness of changes on the web site; assessment of effectiveness of marketing campaigns; assessment of impact of seasonality on the behavior of the user; the decision-making period. The article presents an overview of tools we can use to collect data for analysis. The article also describes the method of selection and the variants of the cohorts to construct the analysis. For demonstration of the proposed method and calculation variant, there is considered the practical example of building a cohort analysis. Using these method and the example of calculating, the companies with delayed conversion can analyze the effectiveness of Internet advertising for different advertising channels. © 2018 Author(s)

Theoretical and Methodological Approaches to Collective Memory Analysis in Memory Studies
Introduction. Collective memory research helps to uncover the deeply imbedded meaning of the past in the present, to follow the identity development process in various communities, to find narrative structures that define societal foundations. Simultaneously, such research can be complicated from the empirical point of view. The scientific novelty of the given article lies in the fact that theoretical and methodological approaches to collective memory research have not yet been summarized and systematized up to this date. The goal of this research is to provide such a review and determine the most valid research methods in Memory Studies. The relevance of the presented research is determined by the fact that the proposition of a methodological apparatus for Memory Studies is necessary for the finalization of its formation as an independent discipline.Methodology and sources. Collective memory theory served as the theoretical-methodological foundation of the conducted research, it allowed to view the past not as a set given but as an object undergoing interpretation and representation. Such academics as M. Halbwachs, M. Bloch, A. Warburg, Jan and Aleida Assmann, J. Olick, A. Erll and others developed the following theory. A range of scientists dedicated their work to the discovery of collective memory research methods, among them M. Bulanova, W. Kansteiner, A. Erll, B. Zelizer, A. Confino, T. Kapitonova, V. Belokrylova, etc. J. Olick made a considerable impact into the understanding of the given issue, having suggested to view memory as a process developing in time, which required to define the methods of analysis that would be able to take this characteristic into account. However, a complete list as well as a general system and classification of methods have not been developed in the academic literature up to the present day. Having appeared at an intersection of various humanities and social sciences, Memory Studies adopts empirical research methods from Sociology, Political science, Culture Studies, Psychology, Media Studies, Visual Studies, etc. In course of the presented research, the relevant empirical research works in the Memory Studies field by international and Russian authors have been analyzed, we considered the research carried out by Ch. Lindt, A. Vasil'ev, T. Emel'yanova, A. Timofeeva, V. Kasamara, E. Hakokongas, E. Keightley, M. Meyers, B. Zelizer, and others. That allowed us to determine the most frequently applied collective memory research methods, to compile their overview and develop the author classification of the used methods. Results and discussion. An overview of key theoretical approaches to collective memory research was provided. They include functional, phenomenological, post-structural, social-historical and information approaches. J. Olick enriched the list of five theoretical approaches suggested by M. Bulanova by introducing the process-relativist approach to studying collective memory. The main research methods applied in Memory Studies were outlined; moreover, a classification of key disciplinary traditions that academics turn to in memory research was introduced featuring sociological, psychological, information, cultural and historical traditions as well as a separate branch of Computer Sciences.Conclusion. As a result of the conducted research, a systematic overview and an author's classification of theoretical-methodological approaches to collective memory analysis were introduced. The findings of the given research can be implemented by a range of academics working on the issues of group identity building, ways of working with contested past, historical events representation in the present, the functioning of memory communities, etc. The defining of the methodological apparatus of Memory studies serves as a moving force for the effective development, generalization and bringing to a common understanding the further research of collective memory structures formation and distribution as well as concepts related to it
Alkylresorcinols as a New Type of Gut Microbiota Regulators Influencing Immune Therapy Efficiency in Lung Cancer Treatment
Background. Alkylresorcinols (ARs) are polyphenolic compounds of microbial origin with a wide spectrum of biological activities and are potentially involved in host immune functioning. The present study is aimed at evaluating alterations in AR content in blood serum and faeces from healthy donors and patients with lung cancer in connection with response to immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy to estimate the regulatory potential of AR. Methods. Quantitative analysis of AR levels, as well as other microbial metabolites in blood serum and faeces, was performed using gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection; estimation of lymphocyte subsets was performed by flow cytometry; faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) from lung cancer patients after ICI therapy to germ-free mice was performed to explore whether the intestinal microbiota could produce AR molecules. Results. AR concentrations in both faeces and serum differ dramatically between healthy and lung cancer donors. The significant increase in AR concentrations in mouse faeces after FMT points to the microbial origin of ARs. For several ARs, there were strong positive and negative correlations in both faeces and serum with immune cells and these interrelationships differed between the therapy-responsive and nonresponsive groups. Conclusions. The content of ARs may influence the response to ICI therapy in lung cancer patients. ARs may be considered regulatory molecules that determine the functioning of antitumor immunity
