International recommendations for outpatient palliative care and prehospital palliative emergencies - a prospective questionnaire-based investigation
Background: To determine the international recommendations and current practices for the treatment and prevention of palliative emergencies. The primary goal of the study was to gather information from experts on their nationally practised concepts. Methods: One hundred and fifty self-report surveys were distributed by email to selected leading experts (palliative and emergency medical care) in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. An expert in this context was defined as an author of an article that was ranked by three reviewers as relevant to outpatient palliative and emergency medical. Results: The total response rate was 61% (n = 92 experts). Survey responses were obtained from 35 different countries. The following standards in the treatment of palliative emergencies were recommended: (1) early integration of "Palliative Care Teams" (PCTs) and basic outpatient palliative care systems, (2) end-of-life discussions, (3) defined emergency medical documents, drug boxes, and "Do not attempt resuscitation" orders and (4) emergency medical training (physicians and paramedics). Conclusions: This study detected structurally and nationally differences in outpatient palliative care regarding the treatment of palliative emergencies. Accordingly, these differences should be discussed and adapted to the respective specifications of individual single countries. A single established outpatient palliative emergency medical care concept may be the basis for an overall out-of-hospital palliative care system
Situationen vid biblioteken vid Teherans universitet
The main object of this paper is an attempt to illustrate the present situation of TeheranUniversity Central Library and its 17 faculty libraries. The main aspects of these librarieswhich will be discussed are collections, staffing, management, shelving, cataloguing and thelibrary users. The findings of a survey which was conducted by the author in Iran in thesummer 1995 form the main basis of the discussions. Some of the problems in these libraries are mentioned and the possible solutions arerecommended. The study also examines the role and effect of the Islamic Revolution and de-westernizationpolicy of the present regime on these libraries.A historical background of higher education, foundation of the University of Teheran, librarianship and the whole range of libraries in Iran are discussed briefly
From Mecca to Rome: The Comparative Study of Attarâs Sheikh of Sanâan and Goetheâs Faust
The following article is a comparative study of Attarâs Sheik of Sanâan and Goetheâs Faust. Both stories demonstrate a similarity of theme and structure as they call upon the reader to discover the external world through journey and have a deeper conception of his inner self via meditation and contemplation though it is true that Attar and Goethe have different worldviews and that they belong to two diametrically opposed epochs. They have a similar conception of certain things and have therefore used a certain structure to express them. Furthermore, both stories express religious themes in a new way that transcends the tradition. The author has also tried to show that the Islamic mysticism might have been a source of inspiration for Goethe
Twistor Geometry of Null Foliations in Complex Euclidean Space
We give a detailed account of the geometric correspondence between a smooth complex projective quadric hypersurface Qⁿ of dimension n≥3, and its twistor space PT, defined to be the space of all linear subspaces of maximal dimension of Qⁿ. Viewing complex Euclidean space CEⁿ as a dense open subset of Qⁿ, we show how local foliations tangent to certain integrable holomorphic totally null distributions of maximal rank on CEⁿ can be constructed in terms of complex submanifolds of PT. The construction is illustrated by means of two examples, one involving conformal Killing spinors, the other, conformal Killing-Yano 2-forms. We focus on the odd-dimensional case, and we treat the even-dimensional case only tangentially for comparison. The author would like to thank Boris Doubrov, Lionel Mason and Jan Slov´ak for helpful discussions
and comments, and the anonymous referees for their reports. He is also grateful to Lukas
Vokrınek and Andreas Cap for clarifying some aspects of Section 2.5. This work was funded by

The effect of intravenous hydration on latency period
Background and aims: Preterm delivery is associated with significant perinatal morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to determine the effects of intravenous (IV) hydration on time interval from rupture of membranes to delivery (latency period) in pregnant women with Preterm premature rupture of fetal membranes.
Methods: 24 pregnant women during their 28 to 34 weeks of gestational age with singleton live pregnancy whose baseline amniotic fluid index (AFI) was ≥ 5 cm were randomized into 2 case and control groups. The study group (Amniotic Fluid Index) received one liter intravenous fluid bolus of isotonic Ringer serum during 30-minute period. The control group received expectant management. The time interval from rupture of membranes to delivery was studied. Independent t-test and paired t-test were used to compare 2 groups and mean latency period before and after hydration, respectively.
Results: The results of this study demonstrated that AFI decreased significantly at 90 minutes in both control and study groups. The mean between time intervals and delivery was 196.41 h and 140.58 h in the study and control groups, respectively, But this differences were not statistically significant (95%: 75.9-316/9 CI 95% :10.2-270.9) (P=490).
Conclusion: This study did not show any significant impact of hydration on AFI and consequently latency period as a prophylactic method. So, further studies with a larger sample size and at different time intervals seem to be needed to clarify the effect of hydration on latency period in PPROM
Association of G103T Polymorphism of Coagulation Factor XIII with Recurrent Pregnancy Loss in Northwest of Iran
Background & objectives: Recurrent miscarriage (RM) occurs in 1–3% of couples attempting to bear children. Thrombophilia is one of the suspected causes of recurrent miscarriage. The factor XIII makes the clot stable at the end of coagulation cascade. The polymorphism G103T of factor XIII gene is the most common polymorphism that affects F XIII activity. We aimed to study the possible association of FXIII gene polymorphism (V34L) with recurrent miscarriage among patients in Northwest of Iran.
Methods: The study groups consisted of 70 patients with two or more consecutive miscarriages. The control group included 50 women with at least two successful deliveries and no history of pregnancy loss. DNA from both groups analyzed for carrying mutation of FXIII by PCR-RFLP. The test used for statistical analyze.
Results: Two patients (%2.85) in the case group were homozygote (TT) for 34 Leu mutation whereas no homozygote (TT) was found in control group (p>0.05). 19 patients (%27.1) in the case group and 13 women (%26) in the control group were found to be heterozygote for G103T polymorphism (p>0.05). No significant difference was observed between patients with RPL and healthy women for G103T mutation.
Conclusion: No statistically difference was observed between case and control group

Reviewing and Criticizing the Islamic Art Book
Argument to Islamic Art is one of the controversial topics in Archaeology and art of Islamic world. Many scholars have written professional articles and books about the origin, function, cognition of art in the Islamic Period. Whatever has caused the definition differences in Islamic art due to different theoretical frameworks and various approaches have been studied so far. These theoretical approaches have been important to coherent presentation of artistic phenomena in the Islamic world. The present book is included as a source book of Islamic art cognition that it has been written based on the Historicism approach. The book has tried to show the important events from the socio-political and cultural evolutions in the Islamic world according to evidence of urban-planning, art, and architecture. The investigation of this book shows that the author has presented general landscape evolutions according to local scale despite the expansion of Islamic governments in political authority. Serious critiques include generalization and descriptive presentation of various events in Islamic world, lack of the determined approach in analyzing the artistic phenomenon, over-focusing on the socio-economic impacts on the production of objects. Finally, this factor has caused that other factors to be ignored
.A Critical Review of the Book Entitled Methodology of Religious Studies
The purpose of this study was to criticize the book “Methodology of Religious Studies (New Edition)”, written by Faramarz Gharamlaki in 2013. The book was evaluated from two dimensions of form and content. Formally, the book met most of the requirements and was evaluated favorably. In terms of content, the book contains technical points in most of the book’s chapters which can prepare the reader for research, using the current scientific approaches. Indeed, this book is an extension of the methods accepted in current scientific research. Of course, the author has made great efforts to document the methods using religious texts; however, the base of most parts of the book is the same as the common sciences. To explain the hierarchy of religious science, to set up a methodological system appropriate to Islamic worldview, ontology, and epistemology, a serious effort of religious scholars is needed in order to development of the methodology of Islamic humanities
