Adrianus van Selms
No full textAdrianus van Selms (1906-1984) was a Dutch pastor (1930-1938) who became senior lecturer and professor in Semitic languages at the University of Pretoria (1938-1972) and lecturer in Biblical archaeology (1938-1962) at the Faculty of Theology of the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk van Afrika (Dutch Reformed Church of Africa). He was an acknowledged academic in South Africa and abroad and the author of numerous publications. His books were predominantly in Dutch, but he wrote most of his articles in English, thus they are theoretically accessible to the scholarly public.
A number of articles, however, were published in Dutch and Afrikaans, dialects that are less easy to comprehend by those not familiar with the said two languages. The present book is an attempt to overcome the linguistic barrier and to present in a summarised way Van Selms’ contributions in three Dutch journals (Onder Eigen Vaandel, Nederlands Theologish Tijdschrift, and Kerk en Theologie), two academically-orientated Afrikaans journals (Hervormde Teologiese Studies and Acta Classica) and three journals of a more popular nature (Die Hervormer, Pro Veritate and Almanak). In total, 87 separate articles (discussed in 79 sections) of Van Selms receive attention
Efek Beberapa Jenis Biochar Pada Berbagai Takaran terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Tanaman Kunyit (Curcuma Domestica Val.)
No full textThis study aims to determine the effect and the dose of biochar rice husk and biochar stem kirinyuh on the growth and yield of turmeric plants in the entisol semi-arid pelitian soil. KabupatenTTU. The research method used was the experimental method in the field with a single factor randomized block design (RBD). Factor 1 type of biochar type of biochar with (K0) control, (K1) 5 t/ha of rice husk biochar, (K2) 10 t/ha of rice husk biochar, (K3) 20 t/ha of rice husk biochar, (K4) turbid biochar 5 t/ha, (K5) 10 t/ha turbid biochar, and (K6) 20 t/ha turbid biochar. These factors were combined in order to obtain 7 treatment combinations with 5 replications, then obtained 35 treatments. With the following combination: K0, K1, K2, K3, K4, K5, K6 The results showed 10 t/ha and 20 t/ha biochar treatment of rice husk had a significant effect and gave the highest value for growth parameters including leaf length. the number of leaves and environmental parameters, namely the weight and volume of the soil. The 20 t/ha biochar treatment of turbid stem gave the highest value to the environmental parameter of soil acidity and was significantly different, while in the electrical conductivity parameter, soil moisture content was not significantly different. The growth parameters 10 and 20 t/ha gave the highest values for the parameters of plant height and stem diameter. Furthermore, the parameters of 5 t/ha biochar treatment yields the highest value of rhizome bud formation, stover fresh weight, and rhizome fresh weight. dry weight of simplicia. Meanwhile, the shoot dry weight parameter and harvest index of 20 t/ha biochar treatment gave the highest value.Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh beberapa jenis biochar pada berbagai takaran terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kunyit di tanah entisol semiarid. Pelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari sampai bulan Juli di kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Timor Kelurahan Sasi, Kecamatan Kota Kefamenanu, Kabupaten TTU. Metode penelitian yang digunakan menggunakan metode eksperimen dilapangan dengan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktor tunggal. Faktor 1 jenis biochar jenis biochar dengan kontrol, biochar sekam padi 5 t/ha, biochar sekam padi 10 t/ha, biochar sekam padi 20 t/ha, biochar kerinyuh 5 t/ha, biochar kerinyuh 10 t/ha, dan biochar kerinyuh 20 t/ha. semua perlakuan diulang 5 kali sehingga terdapat 35 unit penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan biochar sekam padi 10 t/Ha dan 20 t/Ha berpengaruh nyata dan memberikan nilai tertinggi tehadap parameter pertumbuhan yang meliputi panjang daun, jumlah daun serta parameter lingkungan yaitu berat volume tanah. Perlakuan biochar batang kerinyuh 20 t/Ha memberikan nilai tertinggi terhadap parameter lingkungan derajat keasaman tanah dan berbeda nyata, sedangkan pada parameter daya hantar listrik, kadar lengas tanah tidak berbeda nyata. Pada parameter pertumbuhan biochar batang kerinyu dengan takaran 10 dan 20 t/Ha memberikan nilai tertinggi terhadap parameter tinggi tanaman dan diameter batang. Selanjutnya pada parameter hasil perlakuan biochar batang kerinyuh 5 t/Ha memberikan nilai tertinggi pada parameter pembentukan mata tunas rimpang, berat segar brangkasan, dan berat segar rimpang, berat kering simplisia. No full textThis paper presents a detailed analysis of the reasonnings of an author belonging to the Flemish School, Adrian von Schrieck or Schrieckius (1560-1621). His line of arguments is that of an historian of the indo-european civilization. He endeavours to show that the Scytho-celtic or Belgian tongue was the first to be found after the confusion of Babel. He carries out a segmentation of the word-forms of the original language; the resulting list of segments is then applied ta the words of various languages. Tujuan penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk untuk mengetahui Pola Pertukaran
Sosial dan Pola permainan yang terjadi pada Gamers online. Penelitian ini
merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang berusaha memberikan gambaran
tentang perilaku apa saja yang dilakukan para Gamers Online di Dragon Game
Center. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan teori pertukaran sosial menurut
George C Homans. Teori ini menyebutkan bahwa prinsip psikologi umum yang
mengubah atau mempengaruhi perilaku manusia lebih karena akibat dari interaksi
dengan manusia lain, daripada interaksi atau pengaruh dari lingkungan fisik. Lokasi
penelitian dipilih karena di game center Dragon terdapat banyak gamers online yang
kecanduan berat game online dan terdapat di daerah padat di belakang kampus
Universitas Sebelas Maret. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini
menggunakan observasi partisipasi dan wawancara Kemudian teknik pengambilan
sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Snowball Sampling.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bagaimana pola permainan game online
dan pola pertukaran sosial gamers online. Mereka melakukan kegiatan bermain game
secara berkesinambungan hingga gamers menghabiskan uang untuk memenuhi
kebutuhan karakter gamenya, menghabiskan waktu untuk bermain game dalam
mengejar level ataupun untuk berdagang guna mencari uang dan juga kehilangan
kehidupan sosial mereka di lingkungan masyarakat karena jarangnya bersosialisasi di
masyarakat sekitar mereka. Mereka mendapatkan teman sesama gamer dari seluruh
Indonesia. Mereka bermain karena memiliki tujuan untuk mendapat pengakuan
sebagai dewa di game yang mereka mainkan, atau bahkan hanya mencari uang
dengan cara berjualan item, berjualan uang game yang di tebus dengan rupiah, atau
menjadi joki untuk menaikkan level. dari game tersebut.mereka bermain game pula
mendapatkan punishment yang berat, seperti dimarahi orang tua, kuliah menjadi
terlantar dan drop out.

The objective of research was intended to find out the Social Exchange
Pattern and Game Pattern occurring in Online Gamers. This study was a descriptive
qualitative research attempting to give a description on any behavior exhibited by the
Online Gamers in Dragon Game Center. In this study, the author employed a social
exchange theory according to George C. Homans. This theory mentioned that the
general principle changing or affecting the human behavior was more due to the
interaction of one human with another, than to the interaction or the effect of physical
environment. The research location is in Dragon game center,in where there were
many severely addicted online gamers and it was located in dense area behind
Sebelas Maret University campus. Technique of collecting data used in this research
was participatory observation and interview. Then, the sampling technique used in
this research was Snowball Sampling.
The result of research showed how the gaming pattern of online game and the
social exchange pattern of online gamers. They played the game continuously thereby
spent much money to meet their game character need, spend much time to play the
game in catching the level or to trade in order to earn money and also lose their social
life in society environment because they socialized very rarely with the society
surrounding. They made fellow gamers throughout Indonesia as their friend. They
played because they had shared objective to be recognized as the god in the game
they played, or even only to earn money by means of trading the item, to trade the
game money redeemed with rupiah, or to become jockey to raise the level of the
game. They playing the game also got severe punishment, such as reprimand from
their parents, their education was distracted and drop out.

Which financial news to trust?: financial news article author assessment using sentiment analysis and named entity linking in a streaming environment
No full textThe challenge tackled in this thesis is combining the methods of sentiment analysis and named entity linking in a data stream environment applied to the task of assessing the expertise quality of financial news article authors. To do this, existing streaming methodology in both fields is reviewed and their quality in this context is assessed. Using these insights, a novel stream-based sentiment model and two novel named entity recognition (NER) post-processing methods are introduced to improve the current state-of-the-art. The work reviews currently available lexicon methodology for sentiment analysis on unlabeled data and will formulate a novel unsupervised method for lexicon-based sentiment analysis in data streams. The best-performing current sentiment lexicon on the validation data is SentiWordNet 3 achieving an accuracy of 0.616 and F1-score of 0.730. A novel adaptive unsupervised sentiment analysis (AdaUSA) is introduced. AdaUSA updates a baseline lexicon under a data stream by learning and forgetting information in either a tumbled or slid window paradigm. Using the optimal configuration of AdaUSA, the experiments show an accuracy of 0.666 and F1-score of 0.757 on the validation data, thus denoting an increase in performance of 8.1% compared to the SentiWordNet 3 baseline. Additionally, the work reviews current methodology in named entity recognition and named entity linking. Using our custom tagging algorithm, Stanford CoreNLP gives the best performing method with a classification accuracy of 0.487 and F1-score of 0.250. Combining this model with the novel post-processing ADom-selection and RDom-selection methods presented in this thesis, the accuracy can be improved to at most 0.741 and 0.812 respectively. Finally, the tagged target companies are shown to be correctly linked to their corresponding semantic web entities using DBPedia Spotlight with an accuracy of at most 0.776. The insights in both tasks are combined into a stream-based architecture. The environments of Apache Storm and Apache Flink were implemented for sentiment analysis and named entity linking and the computational complexity is compared. Apache Flink showed the fastest article throughput on the test system using the best performing models on the validation data with an average processing time of 436.22 seconds per 1000 articles. The system with the highest performance on the validation data is hence an Apache Flink environment using AdaUSA with the SentiWordNet 3 lexicon as baseline for sentiment analysis, Stanford CoreNLP using RDom-selection for named entity recognition and DBPedia Spotlight for named entity linking. Deploying the full architecture against the validation set of authors, the work finds significant differences in author quality per industry and over time. Especially in assessing the sentiment of news articles, the results shows a group of six well performing authors and four poorly performing authors. Assessing the impact the authors in the validation dataset have on the stock prices of the companies they write about, the study finds that the poorest performing author has a score of 0.223, while the best performing author has a score of 0.601

Biblical motivation and the Czech Brethren's perspective of christian political engagement deals with possible theological basis for Christian political engagement. The first chapter maps the biblical principles and passages inspiring the work of Christians in today's society. In the second chapter, the author deals with the life and work of the most important czech protestant theologian of the 20th century J. L. Hromádka. On specific examples of his public activities and theological statements, the author shows the key ideas and experiences that form the approach to this issue still present in the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren. Both of these chapters form the basic basis for the author's final chapter, which outlines his own theological perspective. He put this perspective in the context of personal experience with political activism in defense of liberal democracy in the Czech Republic
