Volunteers and mega sporting events : developing a research framework
Interest in all aspects of the politics, financing, planning, management and operation of mega sporting events has been highlighted both by success stories and ongoing problems associated with Olympic Games, Football World Cups and other similar events. There is a growing literature that addresses these and related matters through both case history and comparative analyses. Within the context of mega sporting events, the issue of employment creation is an important motivator for host cities and features high on the political justification agenda for bids to host events. At the same time, the most significant working contribution to major mega events in sports, as in other areas, is provided by the very large numbers of volunteers who undertake tasks across the range of opportunities afforded by such events. Numbers of volunteers between 40,000 and 60,000 have been noted for some recent major events. Relatively little is known about these volunteers at mega sporting events and yet their contribution and wider impact is very significant, both to the events themselves and within the host community. This paper seeks to identify the evident gaps that exist in understanding areas such as what volunteers do at mega sporting events; who they are; what motivates them; how volunteering impacts upon their lives; what associated activities they do surrounding the event in the host city; and the extent to which volunteering is recidivistic. The paper concludes with the presentation of a tentative research framework agenda in order to guide future study of this important area
Mega-authorship implications: How many scientists can fit into one cell?
The past 20 years has seen a significant increase in articles with 500 or more authors. This increase has presented problems in terms of determining true authorship versus other types of contribution, issues with database metadata and data output, and publication length. Using items with 500+ authors deemed as mega-author titles, a total of 5,533 mega-author items were identified using InCites. Metadata about the items was then gathered from Web of Science and Scopus. Close examination of these items found that the vast majority of these covered physics topics, with medicine a far distant second place and only minor representation from other science fields. This mega-authorship saw significant events that appear to correspond to similar events in the Large Hadron Collider’s timeline, indicating that the projects for the collider are driving this heavy output. Some solutions are offered for the problems resulting from this phenomenon, partially driven by recommendations from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.</p

The final report entitled "Evaluation of Internal Control Structure Over Cycle Payroll and Wage Control Risk Assessment In Order At Capita Jaya CV". The purpose of this final report to evaluate the internal control structure over the cycle payroll and wages in order to control risk assessment at Capita Jaya CV. The results showed that the application of elements of control activities and monitoring is inadequate because it does not separate recording function with the function of the cash outlay that occur concurrently function. Furthermore, the company has not used an independent party to assess the performance of employees on payroll and wages. Director of the employee performance appraisal is done without the use of an adequate basis for comparison document. The author suggested before the documents and records on the validation by the director should first check the correctness and thoroughness in by the authorities in order to produce financial information that is reasonable. In addition during the performance appraisal and supervision of payroll and wages should use comparison documents are complete and adequat
The Economics of Mega-projects
Mega-projects play a foremost role not only in developed countries, but mainly in developing countries in several respects: political dynamics, so-cial effects, and economic fallout (see Bovensiepen and Meitzner Yoder, 2018). As correctly stated by van Wee and Tavasszy (2008), first, they are heavily under debate at the political level because of their economic impacts and important budget implications . Second, there is a lively debate also among scholars and practitioners owing to the huge cost escalation and schedule delay of these projects (Flyvbjerg et al., 2003a; Odeck, 2004), but also due to the uncertainty of their wider economic effects, which can be in-terpreted as related externalities
Correlation between Numerical and Experimental Structural Resistance of a Safety Relevant Aluminum Automotive Component
Accurate implementation of weight reduction for the development of innovative safety relevant components, such as suspension assemblies, requires a careful evaluation of the structural resistance. The validation of these critical parts usually employs Finite Element Analysis (FEA) during the design phase and laboratory tests on prototypes during later stages. However, the results of these established methods have rarely been numerically compared. The present paper introduces a method for comparing FEA and testing, based on the elaboration of micro-strains acquired with strain gauges positioned in specific regions. The model was applied to the real case study of an innovative lightweight cross beam. FEA simulations and bench tests under different conditions that were representative of the operating environments were carried out. Two different relevant configurations of fatigue bench tests were considered. Then, the data obtained from testing were numerically elaborated in order to compare them with the analytical results. Real data from in-field measurements were used. The cross beam endured at the elevate mission loads reproduced at the bench test. The FEA and testing results were aligned. The correlation method was proven to be reliable, since it made it possible not only to numerically evaluate the testing output, but also to validate the calculation tools, and it could be extended to similar applications in future
Numerical, Mechanical, and Metallurgical Investigation of an Innovative Near Net Shape Titanium Selective Laser Melting Engine Component and Comparison with the Conventional Forged One
Selective laser melting (SLM) can be used to manufacture near net shape (NNS);the main benefits are a remarkable weight reduction, a lower environmentalimpact, the opportunity to integrate some functions, and an improvement of theperformances. The current article covers the development of a Ti6Al4V NNS enginecomponent produced by SLM. Finite element analyses of the main relevantoperating conditions are performed to reach a topological optimization of the part. The main target is weight reduction keeping the same safety performances. Theweight reduction achieved is 45% and 15% with respect to steel and titaniumforging by replacing the original“H”section with an SLM multibranch structure.Other benefits are the manufacturing of the connecting rod (conrod) into twoseparate parts, avoiding the difficult machining to separate the cap from the mainbody and the integration of conformed cooling channels into the conrod. Then, theSLM components are produced and mechanical and metallurgical properties areinvestigated and compared with the titanium hot forging ones. Both the macro-structures present equiassic and isotropic behavior due to the heat treatmenttransformation. No defects are observed for both the technologies. The mechanicalproperties are verified to be aligned with the design targets

The potential of microalgae as a promising alternative raw material in the
manufacture of biodiesel until now research is still being continued. This study
uses a type of Botryococcus braunii microalgae with a focusses on the stage of
cultivation and extraction of lipid, reminding both of the stages are of the most
important and widely discussed in the research of biodiesel. Phase cultivation
aims to study the growth phases of microalgae and the extraction step was to
study the extraction of lipid from microalgae that produce the highest %yield of
lipid through maceration, soxhletation, percolation, osmotic and autoclave
methods. Based on the results obtained that the cultivation stage during
cultivation, exponential phase occurred on the seventh day with the number of
5,208 x 104 cells/ml and from the extraction of lipid obtained that the highest
%yield of lipid from soxhletation method with %yield of 8,5% and the lowest is
the osmotic method with %yield of 0,8%. The volume of solvent n-hexane at
soxhletation method which produces the highest lipid is in volume 175 ml with %
yield of 24%. The results of GC-MS analysis on metyl ester showed that the
methyl ester contains methyl palmitate, methyl oleate and methyl stearate as
dominant fatty acid componen
